Dear Imena,
"Piece? What are you talking about? I know that prophecy like the back of my hand, and I've never heard anything about a piece." I said.
"Well that's because it's not exactly in the prophecy." said Adam.
"Again, what are you talking about?" I asked.
Adam sighed, "You know what the final part of the prophecy is right? The part where the good trihybrid destroys and rids the realms of evil? Haven't you ever thought about what would lead up to that point?"
"Well, yeah. I've always just thought Andrew would start the fight and then I'd defend myself and somehow destroy evil." I said.
"Spirit, you know you don't and never will have the heart to kill anyone, but Andrew knows that too. Right now, his goal is to get rid of you, but he can't do that because you won't attack him just because you can. If he wants to fight with you he has to come to you. Then, even if he does get you to fight him, you're not trying to hurt him unless you feel threatened, so he has to threaten you. If you're threatened, you try to hurt him, and you let your guard down a bit and your focus becomes attacking him. When you're focused on attaching rather than defending, he gets the fight he actually wants, the one that might end in someone's death. Spirit, what's the one thing he could use to threaten you like that?"
I was quiet for a second, confused, then it hit me. "Humans." I said.
"Yeah. Especially ones you care about...like him." Adam said, gesturing to Milo.
I looked at Milo, a wave of panic and fear rushing over me.
"Milo, you have to come with us, stay with me for a while, until we can get this figured out."
Milo looked worried as well, "But what about my parents? And school?" he asked.
"We can make some arrangements and get all of that figured out." Adam said.
Milo thought about it for a moment, then he nodded. "Ok. I'll go with you."
I smiled at him sadly, then I opened up a portal to the Vail and offered him my hand.
He took my hand, and we disappeared into the portal, reappearing at the cherry tree.
James was standing there waiting. When he saw my face and Milo standing there with me, he understood.
"Do you need me to walk you home, Rosie?" he asked.
"Sure. Yeah, that'd be nice." I said.
James nodded and began walking alongside me and Milo.
James introduced himself to Milo, and they talked the whole way home. James told him about our friendship and the twins and Jay, and he told him a bit about the Vail and the Council. But I wasn't listening to any of it, I only know what was said because Milo told me later. My thoughts consumed me, the endless possibilities and uncertainties began to eat me alive.
Milo squeezed my hand, bringing me back to reality. We were at my castle. I looked at him, my eyes filled with tears. I let go of his hand and walked up to my room without a word.
