Dear Imena,
During my second year of high school, a new world leader came into power. I haven't really explained this to you before, but I work with the world leaders of Earth in order to form an alliance with Earth and the Vail. The leaders all know about hybrids and the Vail and are sworn to secrecy about us. If they break their promise, their minds are wiped and they are removed from power and the country follows through with whatever their plans are for changing leaders.
But this particular time, it just so happened that it was time for that country's leader to change with no intervention from the Vail. After they settled in a bit, it was arranged for me to meet them. I used a portal and appeared at the doors of leader's office. I had shown up using spells to make myself look more human so I didn't frighten the new leader, and I was wearing a modest and simple floor length dress in the hopes of not offending them in the way I was dressed. Their team of spokes people and assistants were standing outside waiting for me. One stepped forward and shook my hand, muttering quick greetings while the doors were opened, and I was ushered inside.
I was left standing in the office, confused. It was a large room with windows that took up an entire wall, cyan blue curtains to cover them, a bookshelf filled with tons of books against an off-white colored wall. The floor was tile, and a beautifully patterned rug was laid out from the doors to the desk at the other end of the room. The chair behind the desk spun around to reveal a small man sitting there.
"You are Spirit Rose, I assume?" he asked.
"Yes sir, congratulations on the win." I responded.
He waved his hand, as to dismiss the comment. "Why are you here again?"
I explained the Vail and hybrids to him, then stopped a moment to let him take in the information before continuing.
"I am here to make a deal with you. You keep your people away from the Vail, and I will keep my hybrids away from your people. If harm is done to one party by the other, the guilty party will be punished according to the laws of their residence. Now, there are hybrids that live among your people, and these are the ones I am most concerned about. Though they live in your country, they are still residents of my kingdom, so they are still under my protection. If any harm comes to them, we need to agree that something will be done to stop that from happening again."
The man was quiet for a long time before the spoke.
"No."
"I'm sorry, what?" I asked, slightly alarmed.
"I don't agree to these terms." he said simply.
"Guards! Please escort Miss Rose out." he said as to men burst in and grabbed my arms. "It was lovely to meet you, Spirit."
"Are you sure about that, sir?" I asked as the guards began walking me out. I stopped walking and cast a spell that allowed me to go into my true form, so the guards could no longer hold onto me. I turned back to the man,
"I may not be able to offer you this peace deal again if you refuse today." I said.
He didn't respond, he only glared at me from across the room.
"Very well then," I said "we'll be in touch." then I opened a portal and went back to the Vail, leaving the poor guards confused.
