In the Garden

Dear Imena,

"Where do you think he got the butterfly?" Milo asked.

"I'm not sure. I remember letting Roxanne keep one, but I don't remember giving away or losing another one." I said.

We were sitting in the garden, tending to the roses. At this point, Milo knew what to look for when it came to taking care of the roses, so he helped me out. Milo stopped what he was doing and looked at me for a moment.

"How are you feeling?" he asked.

I shrugged, "Alright I guess. Just confused."

Milo nodded, and we were quiet for a while.

"Why are you letting him get to you? Everyone already knows that you are the good trihybrid in the prophecy." he said.

"Because I can't do it, Milo. I can't carry out the final part of the prophecy. I can't kill him." I responded.

Milo was quiet for a minute.

"Well, how do you know you have to kill him?"

I looked at Milo, confused, I thought it was obvious.

"The prophecy says you will overcome evil and get rid of it, there's never any mention of you killing anyone." he said.

I paused for a moment, thinking about it.

"I guess you're right. I've never thought of it that way or heard anyone else say that before." I said.

"Leave it to humans to be technical." Milo said, smiling.

I smiled back at him, then he kissed me on the forehead, got up, and left for Earth.

After he left, I laid down on the grass next to my roses, thinking about what he said. At some point, I lost touch with the world, and drifted into another one.
