Cutting Deeper Than a Knife

Over the next three days, I recovered in my room slowly and resting from the incident. Tomoko assisted me from Orochi's room and has been by my side the whole time. Every day she has helped me and at night she would curl up next to me in her fox form to sleep.

Orochi has kept his distance and I haven't seen him since the day I got injured. At dinner, he wasn't there or even walking around the halls. Tomoko has seen him at all either. I have started to question his sudden disappearance.

Did something happen to him because of me? The thought makes me shudder while I'm laying down in my bed. He appeared to be so gloomy the last few moments I saw him. He's more than likely to be dealing with demon matters or something.

I sigh and roll over to face the other side of my room for a few moments. Then, toss again. It's night right now. Tomoko had to deal with a celebration for someone in one of the larger rooms.

"I can't take this anymore!" I groan to myself. I throw the sheets off me and march out of my room.

"I hate being useless. This is why I liked it more in the human realm." Mumbling it to myself.

I keep stomping my way to the garden and then I suddenly hear giggles. I stop before a corner and peep around to see two demons and a third person sitting on a bench, facing the other direction.

Are they Geisha? I didn't know they had them in Demon World. Someone seems to be with them.

I whip back around the corner so I go unnoticed and listen in.

"Oh! But why must you leave? We were having so much fun together. It's a true shame!" One of the women exclaimed.

"Can't you stay with us?" A high pitched voice pleads.

I hear walking down the hall beside me. I look to see that it's Tomoko with a tray of empty bowls. I harshly put my index finger to my lips, indicating for her to be quiet. She nods and stands beside still like a statue as well.

"I can't, I have some pressing matters to deal with." It's a male voice from what I can tell.

"Awwwww, but Orochiiiiii!"

I gasp but cover my mouth tightly, praying it wasn't heard. I feel Tomoko stiffen beside me.

Orochi? My mind goes blank of all thoughts and all I could do at that moment was listen to what was being said.

"Now, girls. I have a human wife to get back to. Why would I need you?"

"So? She is just a human girl. What can she do that we can't?" The girls both laugh at the thought of me. I feel my face start to falter with their comments.

"You just took her in because you need her. That's all, you should marry a beautiful demon with talent. Someone who knows what a demon likes." He laughs after that statement they make towards me.

I feel Tomoko trying to grasp my hand tightly, but I don't grasp back. Does everyone in this world see has just some human?

"Your right she is just a human. But why bother even trying to make something out of it? She doesn't want to be married to me. Why did I even pick a human-like her?" They all laugh together and I feel tears streaming down my cheeks onto my hand.

"She is just a pitiful human girl." He finally states and finally, I burst into tears attempting to run past Tomoko but accidentally hit her making all the dishes fall to the floor.

My eyes become cloudy with uncontrollable tears of hurt and make me hit people on my way to my room.

As I crawl into the bed in the center of the room, I grab my pillow and hug my chest. I wish I was back home.

Mother and Father, please find me soon.

THIRD PERSON POV: (just so you readers understand the rest of the chapter)

Ren rams into Tomoko's plate of trays as she running away crying in absolute heartbreak and hurt caused by the three of them. They turn around to see Tomoko's shocked face.

"Tomoko! What are you doing here?" Orochi stands along with the two demon geisha.

Tomoko's face scowls with anger, "Do. You... Know. What you have just DONE?!" Her voice deeps with rage as her form shifts to an older version of herself.

Her hair grows longer with her changing height. She steps forward towards the two geisha and slaps both of them in the face causing their heads to jerk to the side.

The youngest speaks first, "What was that for!"

"Do you know who I am?" The oldest chimes in.

Tomoko snarls at them making the jump back in fear. "You just said that in front of Ren! You just made that poor girl, run into her room sobbing her heart out! Go before I make you my meal!" She steps towards them, making them scream in fear run away to who knows where.

Tomoko turns to Orochi and clenches her hands. Orochi looks as emotionless as a stone stands in the wrath of the furious woman.

"You! You are the worst out of the three! I can not believe I serve such a pitiful, disgusting, undeserving, and thoughtless man like you. She heard every word you said to those no good girls!" She yells at him but he only stood there getting paler with every word.

"I'm sorry I didn't know-" He was cut off by her with a sharp slap to the face.

"Didn't know! You just hurt an innocent girl's heart and ego making her believe that she is a pathetic human. She teared up while she listened to those words."

Tomoko grabbed him by the shoulder and slammed by a nearby wooden column.

"You know, I am a wild fox and have no master in this world. I am just as strong as you because of that very reason. I ONLY call you master to give people the thought that you don't have a wild fox running around.

"I know I have outspoken my place tonight, but I know damn well; that- that girl, didn't need to hear such harsh criticism towards her when she is already facing Hell in this place just because she is a human."

She pushes back and shrinks back to her original small form to go clean up the broken mess of glass Ren had created.

Orochi stood there shocked by the turn of events and the disbelief he just had caused Ren.

"Did she run away?" He asked quietly.

Tomoko stood up with the tray of shattered, pale pieces of the glass and spoke, "She heard all those words and took it to heart."

She walked away from the scene leaving Orochi alone in the garden.
