Chapter 7 - Anger Is An Instrument (Kane)

"Remember Kane if The War Of Morals is to ever take place, it is your job

To deliver this box to the Hanju general, it has all of the resistance plans and moves, with this the Hanju will surely win." said the grandfather

"Alright grandfather, but why the Hanju, why must they win," I asked in a rebellious tone

"The Resistance is nothing but animals that don't know their place, now you will deliver this letter, you understand?" said the grandfather in a forceful tone

"Alright, I'll do it," I said

(2 Hours Later)

"KANE YOU MUST DELIVER THE LETTER NOW!, I GOT WORD FROM THE RESISTANCE THEY ARE SETTING UP SOLDIERS IN THE HILLS!" grandfather yelled

"ALRIGHT GIVE ME THE DAMN BOX THEN!" I said in annoyance

Grandfather handed me the box and as I grabbed it he said "The fate of the Hanju and the demise of The Resistance is in your hands, you will not fail us, you understand, you will find the Hanju generals right-hand man in the large blue house on token street." he said

"I understand old man," I responded

I ripped the box out of his hands and headed towards token street, I didn't really know what to think about this, I didn't know much about any of these sides other than what my grandpa had told me. He's never lied to me so maybe this resistance is just a threat.

I looked around as I saw resistance propaganda taped and painted across walls, messages like. "Don't let them control you any longer."

And "We will be the new age of freedom." they all seemed so sincere

Who should I believe?

The house was right in front of me now, I didn't really have a choice what would happen to me if I didn't do this I didn't want to find out.

I walked up to the door and knocked twice...no answer. I knocked another 3 times.

"Hey there is someone at the door." one said

"You think it's the guy's grandson?" another said

"HEY WHO IS IT!?" yelled a man

"Package from the old man, I'm his grandson," I responded

"Alright come in then." the same man responded

I pushed the door open to see men sitting in chairs

All of them wearing blue coats with the symbol of the Hanju

Swords on their hips, and cold faces only a person who had seen death would have.

A man taller than the other waited in the middle of the room with his hand out waiting for the box.

"Here you go," I say as I hand him the box

He opens it and pulls out two sheets of paper. He silently reads them for about a minute or so.

"Looks like they don't expect us to flank, their front line will be facing towards the town waiting for us, and the back lines with all of their supplies will be facing the forest. If we go to hit them from both sides before they prepare we should be able to end the resistance right there." the man explained

"Alright kid, thank your grandpa for us, he's been an excellent spy for the Hanju, you should be proud." He said in approval

"Yeah, sure am," I said in a sarcastic tone

"Alright well I'm general Kadik I work directly under the main general, tell your grandfather we will be engaging the resistance in about an hour, he'll know what to do." the man said

"Alright, got it," I said as I walked out the front door.

I was walking back to my grandpas when I caught a strong smell of smoke nearby.

No, it couldn't be as I moved forward away from the cover of the trees and bushes.

"GRANDPA!" I yelled as I realized his house was now on fire

Damn it old man why did you have to be so stupid, working as a spy you know what that could have meant.

I ran as fast as I could when I saw men wearing coats with the symbol of the resistance.

They were throwing Molotovs directly into the windows watching the house burn down.

"HEY STOP WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING!" I said in horror

"Hey, I think it's his kid." a man said

"We can't let this traitor's bloodline run through this town, we have to kill the boy," the leader said with a dark look in his eyes.

I stumbled backward and landed on my back, as I watched the house crumble down, there is no way he survived.

"But sir shouldn't we ask the general before we kill this boy, he could be innocent." A more warmhearted man said

"No, this kid was nothing but the messenger for our plans, the only reason this kid wasn't in that burning house is that he just got back

From giving the Hanju our plans." the other man said

"Then forget about the kid we have to warr…" the warm-hearted man said before getting decapitated by a Hanju soldier.

"Grab that man before he throws another Molotov!" The general said as he hopped off his horse and grabbed the man.

"I'm sorry you had to witness this boy." the general said in sympathy

"Let me kill him," I said when I noticed the man's eyes turn yellow

"Wait, why is his?" I said in confusion when

"AAAAAH." Kadik screamed as the dark-eyed man rose up and bit into

His neck

Another man grabbing the box of letters and running off,

The dark-eyed man ruthlessly killed Kadik in front of my eyes cutting him open with his bare hands, blood drenching from his mouth and nails.

He looked back at me and said.

"Now where were we." as he grabbed my neck and walked me towards the burning house

"What the hell is wrong with you, you evil bastard." I struggled to say he squeezed harder on my throat

"You are going to slowly bake next to your grandpa and suffer as I watch you." the man said in a psychotic tone

He broke open the front door so suddenly, steam had burst out

From the pressure, with particles of burning ash flying in between.

"AAAAAH!" I screamed in agony as he used me to shield himself from the burning smoke.

"Please stop ...please," I begged him

He stayed silent as we walked down the hallway leading to my grandfather's bedroom. I was about to see him, the burnt corpse of my grandpa right in front of my eyes.

"NOOO DAMN YOU!" I yelled as I kicked and flailed my legs

"SHUT UP!" He yelled as he threw me past the piping hot door covering my grandpa's room, even behind the raging flames I could still see his

Crisp black skin, his face looked as if it had melted down. I could no longer recognize him, his nose drooped to the side and his forehead drooping beyond his eyes with his mouth hanging open,

My worst nightmare.

"Playtime isn't over yet buddy"

He grabbed both my legs and slowly dragged me closer to the bright flames that killed my father.

As the man walked into the flames before me, they burned an even hotter blue.

"That's better isn't it," he said

He then grabbed my hands and pulled them into the flames.

"AAAAAAAAH!" I screamed in agony as my hands burned beyond any pain I had ever felt before.

"That feels good doesn't it boy, why don't we burn your face a bit."

He said as he slowly pushed my entire body into the flames,

My hoodie and pants had caught on fire.

"YOU CRAZY BASTARD!" I yelled in the purest of anger

I grabbed his throat just like he grabbed mine and slowly walked out of the flames.

My hands were smoking and steaming just like when he breached the front door.

"I'll make you and the resistance suffer for this." I'll become a greater spy than my grandpa and avenge him, and when I finally see the one chosen by the prophecy I will kill him." I said with an expressionless tone

Right before slamming his head deep into the wooden floorboards of the house.

The shards of wood cutting my face, arms, and clothing.

"DIE, DIE, DIE, DIE, DIE, DIE, DIE, DIEEEEEE!" I screamed as I

Bashed his face deeper and deeper into the floor.

Blood shooting into my face and burning away,

His teeth pulverized by my force.

I put my ear closer to what was left of his mouth to hear his last words.

"For the resistance," he said with what little breath he had left.

The house had started to come crashing down once again.

I left the man to burn with my grandfather and leaped out the back window of the house into the woods, to find the rest of the resistance.

I am going to make them pay for what they did to me, they will all die to my burned fist

And the chosen one will die to my hand, no, I am the one chosen by the prophecy, I will bring an end to the resistance just as my grandfather said.

They will never suspect a thing.
