Chapter 6 - 2 Souls Are Better Than One (Mendel)

"Alright, try again," said Kenneth

"I have been trying for hours damn it, it's pointless," I said

"So what you are saying is, you are useless to us and Kane can kill you?" Said, Kenneth

"Nn...No not at all," I said hastefully

I tried again, focusing on the feeling of the power from our battle like he told me.

He had set up a mirror so I could see myself activate the power when I was successful.

I could feel myself steadily inching closer and then it happened, I felt the power I had felt before

I looked at the cup and sent out particles letting me crush the object with ease.

"Crushing it is easy, I need you to throw it," said Kenneth

I looked back at the broken glass and reached my hand out impatiently

I let my anger burn through me just as I did before.

I thought of my mother's death, I can't let the legacy die.

"I can do this," I whispered to myself.

I flicked my hand to the side watching the shards of glass flying through the air as they broke along the cold walls.

The power of my telekinesis shattering the mirror.

"Great, now, look at your eyes," said Kane in approval

I then quickly picked up a shard from the mirror in surprise.

My eyes burned bright, but not a solid color, My left eye burned the bright gold of freedom, and nightmares, while my right eye burned more of a yellowish orange.

"I'm interesting you may be gifted for sure, if your eyes represent what I think it does.

Being able to control 2 shinju powers at once, that'd be impressive." said Kane

"So is this how I beat Kane," I asked

"I can't see, I couldn't exactly get the best view of your eyes during that battle," said Kenneth

"Alright so what now?" I asked

"Well the choice is yours at this point, we can teach you how to be more accurate with your telekinesis, or I can teach you how to use a tanto."

Kenneth said in an excited tone

"I guess I'll learn how to use a tanto," I said

"Great choice," said Kenneth as he reached under his mattress and pulled out a box engraved with the symbols 死の前の運命

Across it.

"What do those symbols mean?" I ask in curiosity

"It means Destiny Before Death.

everyone must complete their destiny before dying, even if that means dying to complete it." Kenneth said in a sad tone

"How did you get it?" I asked

"This blade wasn't given to me, I took it from the man who took everything from me, now it will always symbolize my family's redemption, and for that reason, this is the blade of vengeance."

He opened the box to a shiny blade that looked as if it hadn't been

Aged a day

I looked in awe at how an object could symbolize so much,

It had a smooth handle with engravings of names all over it

With a blade sharper than any I had ever seen.

"Why are there names engraved on it?" I asked in curiosity

"These are all the people that died to this blade, when I kill them I then engrave their names onto it,

Well, you saw my blade now it's time for me to give you yours." Said, Kenneth

"Wait but I thought.." I said in confusion

"Don't tell me you really thought I'd give you the most important object in my life, keep dreaming kid," he said with a chuckle at the end

"Oh...Right." I said in an embarrassed tone

Alright here is yours, as he pulled out a standard blade from his drawer that looked as if it hadn't been used in weeks.

"Hey beggars can't be choosers kid, now take it and make it yours," he said

I grabbed the handle of the katana and imagined how I would customize it if I ever got the time, engravings of dragons, snakes, Maybe symbols of the walls so many options.

"Alright kid lesson one, always guard yourself, you can take a punch to the gut, but if you ever take a blade to the gut not even wall 2 regeneration can heal that in time before you bleed out, get it," said Kenneth

"Yeah, I got it," I said nervously

"Alright I'll use wall 1 to put you in a dream sequence then I can talk you through everything and train you without the risk of death." He said

"Alright let's do it," I said with confidence

"Woah that's the first time I felt some essence of confidence come from you, guess we will get started then," said Kenneth as his eyes turned yellow

I waited calmly with the blade in my hand, when all of a sudden I was in a large grassy field, with stains of blood across sections of the lively grass, with the wind blowing around, sheets of paper, letters perhaps.

"Kenneth, where am I?" I asked in confusion

"My deepest darkest memory, the one I can visualize the most.

This is where The Battle Of Morals took place, the blood you are seeing is the blood of my allies and the soldiers I killed that day, anyway

I'll have you fight just one soldier for now." he said as a soldier materialized right in front of my eyes.

"Alright," I said as I began to use the power of the first wall

"Oh and no using your powers for right now, I only want to see your blade skills," Kenneth said

I moved my right leg in front of the other and held the blade in reverse.

Holding my right arm to my head makes for a good defense and offense.

"Never told me you had blade skills kid," Kenneth said in approval

"I used to read lots of books, some about soldiers and what they were taught in combat, I took that inspiration and eventually bought a blade of my own but after you breached my house I lost it and will probably never get it back," I said in a saddened tone

"Oh sorry about that, guess you will have to make do with that blade right there," Kenneth said

"Yeah, It's fine," I said

"Alright enough talk I'm gonna make that soldier attack you now, get ready," Kenneth said

"Yeah I'm ready," I responded in preparation

I prepared for him to run towards me, but the soldier circled

around me instead, waiting for an opening. I decided to make the first move, and dash towards him, backing out just seconds before he made a move to counter-attack, swiftly grabbing his blade arm, unexpectedly he tossed his sword to his other arm and impaled my back.

It was only a dream sequence, but I could still feel the horrible burning pain.

"Come on Mr 3 steps ahead are all I need," Kenneth said in a mocking manner

"Don't mock me, I'll make you eat your words soon enough you'll see," I said angrily

"Alright prove it, kid," Kenneth responded as he materialized 2 soldiers at this time

I went back to my stance and once again they started to circle around me, they had me locked down on both sides. I was going to have to be unpredictable.

I flipped my blade and threw it at the soldier on the left to distract him and buy me enough time to kill the soldier on the right.

I rushed for the one on the right ducking just below his blade.

I leaped upwards with a stunning uppercut, I immediately reached for his blade arm and snapped it releasing the blade from his hand.

I swiftly grabbed the blade and swung towards the throat of the first soldier that I distracted killing him, shifting my attention back to the second soldier who had grabbed a second blade from off the ground.

His fighting arm was broken, he will be quick work I thought to myself.

I faked my first strike to draw out his next attack, he stretched his arm out just enough for me to duck and cut his arm off I held his head in place

As he begged for mercy.

"Kill him for me, I don't need to hear that man's begging again," said Kenneth

I slammed the blade into the top of his skull.

"Alright it's over," I said

I thought in my head, why did It feel so right killing that man, am I still human?

The image of the grasslands had turned back the blank image of the brick room.

Kenneth's nose bleeding.

"That took a bit out of me, we'll have to take a break," Kenneth said
