LOG 9

( the narrator)

(meanwhile, in the deepest level of the dungeon in a small hut. surrounding the hut is a cyclone. the instant that the dungeon lord enter the cyclone, the figure of the dungeon lord began to flicker out of existence. day 97)

dungeon lord- great totem wind, I have come to meet you.

(dungeon lord enters the hut, looking at a tree with a human face. the human face is very old. so old that it would have been mistaken for a corpse)

totem wind - young one, why have you come here. I have warned you not to come here, especially with something which is with such a weak life force. do you want to kill it?

dungeon lord - well, I don't like coming here myself but this is something that has to be done, great totem. I also have a trade that I need to complete. can't you feel the mana that this one is emitting?

totem wind - oh, it is that ghost's mana, is it. well, is he even alive now. he was a weird one, trying to protect someone that wants to kill him. well, do you think he is alive?

dungeon lord - I don't care, great totem. it doesn't matter, so will you just grant the kid his totem, it would be pointless for me to risk my life coming down here, and only to have the kid before he can even receive the totem.

totem wind - then sit here, I will begin his fusion. you don't need to worry about your life force being stripped away. I have deactivated that spell temporarily, so sit easy, it is going to be a long night.

dungeon lord - yes, great totem.

totem wind - have you ever wondered, what happen to that guy. he completely disappeared after that incident fifty years ago.

dungeon lord - I honestly don't care about him. I just want to complete my side of the deal. he saved my life fifty years ago, so now I am fulfilling that favor by bringing his inheritor down here.

totem wind - yeah, by the way, do not tell him anything about his true powers. he must be trained by one of his own before he can activate them. I don't want him risking his life performing magic. he holds the most dangerous totem of them all. he is the totem that has to be most wary of his powers.

dungeon lord - as you wish, great totem.

( meanwhile, in front of the two people, there is a skeleton, lying in front of the two of them. black lines are passing throughout his body. the kid is completely unconscious, so still that he does not seem to have any life. once in a while the kid twitches, almost as if someone is giving him an electric shock.)

totem wind- be careful, dungeon lord. I have summoned his tribe here. they should come to meet you by tomorrow. make sure that he must not leave the bounds of the dungeon. you don't want the golden one to find him. if he finds him, the golden one will personally descend here if that were to happen. you also have to worry about the one above. he doesn't know about this kid.

dungeon lord - yes, great totem.

totem wind - by the way you are destroying the city above, am I right.

dungeon lord - yeah, you can call it a trade between us. he needs to clean his city and I do owe him somewhat. while I don't want to waste my soldiers, I don't want more enemies right now.

totem wind - then don't waste your troops, dungeon lord. the beast tribe can destroy that city. all they need is a proper leader.

dungeon lord - that little kid, while I agree that he is pretty smart, but don't waste my time telling me that he is a capable leader. he doesn't have that level of ruthlessness, especially for an army as a savage the beast tribe.

totem wind -I did not mean him, the beast tribe has their leader and he is more than capable. I promise that to you. you can retreat your troops.

dungeon lord - I have already promised him that he will be a general in name. I can't take back my word. I even signed a contract and he has to become a general or his soul will be dissipated. not even I have control over that.

totem wind - just make him a general - in - name. if he tries to lead this particular group, he will die pretty quickly.

dungeon lord - fine, great totem.

(DAY 98)

(live recording)

dungeon lord - you have finally awaken, general. I expected you to take longer. well, then let me inform you as to what your exact purpose is.

( I couldn't feel my body, most likely something that happen due to the man that caused all of this. naturally, I can't speak or I have a few words that I want to tell him. now that I think about it, I really shouldn't be so aggressive. after all he can destroy every trace of my soul.)

dungeon lord - so, there has been a change in plans, you see I will have to retreat most of my troops from this place, I have a more pressing matter to deal with. so I won't be able to supply you with too many troops. so I want to inform you that your purpose has changed. oh yeah, I forgot.

( that man waved his hand and I could feel my mouth. I could not feel the rest of my body though.)

me - so what is my new purpose?

dungeon lord - you have to box in the border city, make sure that none of its members can leave the city. if even one member of that city is found outside, I will crush your soul.

me - so what troops will I be having. I definitely won't be having the chimeras, what else will I not be having.

dungeon lord - well, I need most of the beasts stationed in this place. I will be leaving you with the beast tribe, they should listen to you.

I assure you that you can hold off the border city with the beast tribe. ok then, I don't have time to waste on you, so I will be leaving now.

(end of live recording)

I can't see any physical changes to my skeleton body, but I can feel the changes in my body. I am faster than before. it is a good feeling.

other than that I can't feel anything else. I open my status to see if there are any changes.

species - death totem

mana -100/100

skills - string manipulation - lvl: 9

bone bolt- lvl 8

dream walk- lvl 0

bone possession - lvl 2

bone seed

death raiser- lvl 0

other than the additional skills and my species change. there is nothing new about my status. I am not new to totemic magic, I have used such magic myself many times, but the thing about totemic magic is that they are really powerful and dangerous. you need to be careful when using them. in such methods, you are borrowing power from another living being, usually multiple times stronger than you.

some of them are beings that want you to open a connection so that they can possess the body. so unless you have enough knowledge about the being you are about to borrow power from, it is wise not to use that power.

so anyway, the more important thing is that I can finally fight in close range. other than that, a massive group of beasts have been leaving the place. I am thinking that the dungeon lord is ready to kill me by slowly torturing me.

how the fuck am I supposed to hold of the folks in the border city, that too in a plain region. I don't think that I can even survive if an attack were to happen. anyway, at the very least I have one small regiment with me.

turns out that the beasts tribe is roughly a group of two thousand people.

they are semi humans, with both human and monster blood flowing through them. they have their style of cultivation. I have some very basic knowledge about them, they are beings with the blood of beasts and humans flowing through them, and their cultivation method involves activating the blood of the beast. I will meet them tomorrow since they have yet to come. the only thing that I have missed in all of this is the explosive spikes, which I had to leave in the base. turns out when you run for your life, you tend to forget such kind of thing.

( DAY 99)

I have finally seen the beast tribe. I am sure that the man called dungeon lord wants to kill me. there are very few members of the beast tribe, with at most 2000 people. on the more positive side, at least all of them seem to be very good at combat. I will be leaving now to talk to their leader.

(live recording)

me - so you are the commander of the people I see before me. what should I be calling you?

thunder drum- I am called thunder drum, great totem.

me - okay, thunder drum, I have a lot of questions to ask you so make your people settle down, we will be having a very hard war in front of us.

(after a while. I must say I was expecting something very different from this. when I had heard that they were part beast, I was expecting that they would be having some kind of animal parts. they looked like normal humans, with animal pelts covering their faces. they look frightening, to say the least. )

thunder drum - Great totem, I am here. what did you want to ask me?

me - first of all, what is the combat strength of your people, and how many of your people are capable of fighting.

(thunder drum is wearing the pelt of some kind of bear, with silverish fur. it is a pretty impressive figure, to say the least.)

thunder drum- all of them, totem. there are roughly one thousand eight hundred members of the beast tribe capable of fighting. other than that are children, about two hundred of them. the children have on average class eight cores and the adults have around class six cores.

me - one last thing, do you have any troop capable of long-range combat.

thunder drum - yes, the wind falcon tribe is capable of it, they have about thirty people.

me - the wind falcon tribe?

thunder drum - yes, I had forgotten that you are an outsider in our clan and don't know how it works here.....

(end of live recording)

from here on out it our conversation stretched out for quite a while, almost for a day. these people have a very in totemic style of cultivation. they borrow power from their ancestors. while I am not exactly sure how it works, the animal pelts that the beasts are wearing acts as a medium, allow them to do some pretty interesting things.

I don't think I will be able to understand it for quite a while. this means that I will have to make a very hard choice. you see, I can already feel the tension with thunder drum. he is a man that does not like to be challenged, especially by a weakling like me. I am lucky that I am their totem, and while I am not sure what that is supposed to mean exactly, I don't think that I need to test his limits. I don't want to die in a ditch somewhere.
