Who Got Caught

Later that day Ms. Mclay was back at the house asking everyone about their powers during dinner.

"So the only one left is Leo."

"What do you think your power's gonna be?" Taylor asked.

"I don't know actually, it doesn't really seem like there's anything else."

"No, there has to be, maybe you're just not thinking hard enough."

"Maybe."

"Do you even really need a power? I mean you're already smart as hell."

"Yeah but I wanna at least see what I can do to help the team."

"Hey, you make weapons, that's super helpful."

"Trust me dude, you're the main reason we even have a chance at beating Alric."

"I haven't done that much."

"You saved me and Jordan before we even knew we had powers."

"Don't act like you haven't done anything dude."

"Trust me Leo, you're amazing."

"Thanks guys."

"Well I better get going, I'll bring you more clothes tomorrow."

"Thanks Ms.Mclay."

"No problem, bye kids."

Later that night the kids were in the bed til Leo woke up to the sound of a creak.

"Jordan," he whispered.

Jordan groaned before he slowly sat up. "What?"

"Sh, I think someone's in the house."

"What?"

"We gotta get the girls."

Jordan slowly gets out of bed while Leo grabs two guns and check to make sure they're loaded.

Jordan opens the door when suddenly something punches causing him to crash in the wall.

Leo starts shooting when suddenly he sees a figure drop to the floor.

"Nice shot."

"Let's go."

They run out to see the girls already in the hallway. "What's going on?"

"Someone's in the house."

"You think there's more of them?"

Suddenly Kaline disappears.

"Kaline?"

"Get off me!"

"Damn it!"

They all run into the living room where they find Kaline hanging onto the door as another figure is trying to pull her away.

"Kaline!"

Jordan runs over to her and starts to pull back til he's able to pull her out of the person's grasp.

Kaline quickly sped away to her room while Leo started shooting towards the figure til he saw it fall to the ground.

They quickly looked around and waited for a few seconds before they sighed in relief.

"Everyone okay?" Leo asked.

"Yeah," said Jordan.

They heard a squeal and saw Taylor change back into a human, "I'm okay."

"Kaline?"

"I'm fine."

When they turned to Kaline they saw her holding onto her shoulder and one of her arms was hanging by her side.

"Are you sure you're okay?"

"Uh huh."

"Why are you doing that?"

"... Um… I… um."

"Kaline, what happened?"

"... Did I break your arm?"

"It's okay."

"It's okay my ass!"

"I'll call Ms. Mclay."

"Jordan don't freak out."

"How can I not freak out? How can you not be freaking out? I broke your arm!"

"I know you didn't mean it and I don't feel it anymore."

"I can't believe I did that."

"It was an accident."

"Who cares I broke her arm!"

"I'm fine."

"Guys, Ms. Mclay isn't answering."

"What?"

"Call her again."

"I called her three times, she didn't answer."

"... Oh my god."

"Do you think she got caught?"

"I'll go look for her."

"Kaline you can't."

"I'm the only one who can do it without getting caught."

"Kaline I'll do it, you need to stay here."

Kaline sighed, "Okay, fine."

"Be careful Tay."

"I will, I'll be right back."

Taylor transforms into a bat before she flies out the door into the night. After Jordan closes the door he starts to head for his room.

"Jordan--"

"Don't, I need to think."

Kaline sighed as Jordan went into the room. "What are we gonna do?"

"I don't know, we can't go to the hospital, obviously. Let's just wait for Taylor to come back if Ms. Mclay's with her, maybe we can figure something out then."

"Okay, I'm gonna check on Jordan."

"Maybe you should just leave him alone for a little bit."

"But I need to tell him it's okay."

"Look he just needs some time to think, let's just wait for Taylor to get back."

"Okay."

Kaline and Leo were on the couch waiting for Taylor when suddenly she flew through the window squealing.

"Taylor what's going on?"

She transformed back into a human and was breathing heavily, "I found Ms. Mclay."

"You did?"

"Where is she?"

Taylor sighed before she handed Leo a piece of paper.

"I saw her drop this when she was being dragged away by officers." Leo's head dropped and Kaline sighed, "I would've done something but there were too many. I'm so sorry."

"It's fine, we're glad you're okay."

"What does it say?" she asked.

Leo opened it and saw it was a letter from Ms. Mclay. "Jordan come out here, you need to hear this."

"What? What is it?"

"It's a letter from Ms. Mclay, we all have to hear it."

"Alright, fine."

"Okay," Leo began to read aloud,

Kids, I'm so sorry this happened, but the officers followed me one day and found out I was helping you. You need to fight them off, I may not be able to help you anymore but there's another place you can go. I have a cabin in the forest you guys can live in, go there and try to stay safe. I'm sorry kids, I wish I could still help you but it seems like this is goodbye. I'm gonna miss you.

Tears started to form in Taylor's eyes. "Taylor it's okay."

"We have to go after her."

"Taylor it's too dangerous."

"She's done so much for us, we have to go!"

"She's right."

"Guys we'll get ourselves killed."

"I can go alone."

"Not gonna happen."

"I'll be fine."

"Kaline your arms broken you need to heal."

"I'm faster than them I'll go unnoticed."

"You can only move one arm!"

"Then you can come with me. You can fight off some of the vampires so it'll be easier."

"I really think you guys just shouldn't go."

"We'll be okay, I promise. Guys we have to at least try to save her."

"Fine, but you can't go, you have a broken arm."

"I'll be fine, Jordan can help."

"I just don't think you should get out there when you're hurt."

"... What if I try something."

"What?"

"Kaline sit down." Kaline sits down on the couch as Taylor walks behind it. "Hold still, this may sting."

Taylor grew large sharp fangs and bit down on Kaline's neck. After a few seconds Taylor came off and Kaline started to move her arm again.

"It worked!"

Leo started to look at Kaline's arm.

"That was awesome."

"Thanks Tay."

"No problem."

"Come on Jordan, we gotta go."

"Fine, we'll be right back."

"Be careful, keep an eye on Kaline, try to make sure she doesn't get hurt."

"Okay, we'll see you guys later."

"Bye guys."

After Jordan and Kaline leave Leo and Taylor sit together on the couch. "You doing okay?"

"Yeah I'm just worried about Kaline."

"You don't have to be, she's strong she knows what she's doing."

"I just worry about her, I'm worried about everybody. Things are getting intense and I don't even have my powers yet."

"Oh forget about those stupid powers, you don't need them."

"I don't know."

"Leo, you managed to kill a vampire just by manufacturing a gun. You just shot two more in almost complete darkness without even grazing any of us, not to mention you being literally the smartest guy I've ever met."

"Come on--"

"No, you need to stop being so hard on yourself. You do so much already and you always try to do more. Leo you don't need powers, who cares when you get em."

"I guess."

"Besides, these abilities are really hard to control. In case you forgot, Jordan just broke Kaline's arm."

Leo chuckled, "You're silly Tay."

"Thanks."

They both laughed and continued to talk as they waited for Jordan and Kaline to come back.
