Abilities

Ms. Mclay was observing Taylor's fangs while the others were talking.

"Do you think she can drink blood?"

"Maybe, but how would that fight against the vampires?"

"Ms. Mclay said the clones get vampire abilities, she never said they could be used for fights."

"They might be a little different than normal fangs."

"Do you have any cravings?"

"No."

"Alright, well I don't think your fangs are as normal as they seem. But we'll just have to see. Tell me when you start experiencing cravings."

"So our powers are coming in?"

"Seems like it, I suggest you all keep a close eye on each other."

"What abilities should we get?"

"I'm not sure, just be careful around each other. We clearly have no idea when your abilities come in. It seems to be getting late you kids should head to bed."

"Ms. Mclay, could we go out tomorrow?"

"I don't think so, you three still haven't gotten your abilities, and even if you get them tomorrow you're not going to know how to use them."

"We understand."

"I've gotta get back home, lock the doors and try not to have too many lights on."

"Wait you can't leave us."

"I have to I can't draw any suspicions, not being at my house after the Clones were just revealed will not look right."

"But how are we gonna fight off the vampires if you're gone?"

"Don't worry I have a system set up if they show up so will I. I promise I won't let you kids get hurt."

"We'll be okay guys."

"Yeah, we trust her don't we?"

Leo and Taylor nodded and Ms. Mclay smiled. "Thanks kids, goodnight."

"Night."

When Ms. Mclay disappeared they went back to their rooms and turned off the rest of the lights before they got ready for bed.

"Are you sure we'll be okay?"

"I promise Taylor, and besides you already got your ability. Seems like a pretty cool one."

"I don't know… do vampires even have blood?"

"Hey they may do more than suck blood."

"I don't know, it seems like I'm just gonna be a liability."

"Hey, if it wasn't for you we wouldn't even find out we were immune to these guys bites."

"We didn't even know what they were at first."

"Taylor stop it, listen just because you aren't the strongest hero in the world doesn't mean you're a liability. You're scared it makes sense to be scared. You shouldn't get mad at yourself for it."

Taylor smiled at her, "Thanks Kaline."

"No problem, now come on let's get some sleep."

The next morning when Kaline opened her eyes, she got up and looked at Taylor's bed to see it was empty.

"Taylor?"

She started to look around when suddenly she saw a shadow coming from the ceiling. She looked up to see what was there and she was immediately faced with a large black bat. She screamed and the bat immediately woke up and started flying around the place which only made her scream more until she ran out of the room. When she ran into the hallway she bumped into Jordan and Leo.

"Kaline what's wrong?"

"There's a bat in our room! Where's Taylor?"

"We don't know, Taylor!"

Suddenly they heard a squeal from the room.

"... Was that just the bat?"

"Taylor!"

She ran back into the room and bat came flying towards her. She caught it and held it in her arms til it started to grow and soon transformed into Taylor.

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah… I was so scared."

"I'm so sorry," she pulled her into a hug, "I should've known it was you."

"Come on, I was a bat, I would've screamed my head off too."

Kaline giggled and they let go. "So you have more than one ability."

"Seems like it."

"See, I told you your power was cool."

She blushed and Leo asked, "Did you guys get your abilities?"

Jordan and Kaline said no and Leo said, "We're gonna have to tell Ms. Mclay about this."

They jumped at the sound of another squeal. They looked down and saw Taylor was a bat again.

"Call her, now."

While they were waiting for Ms. Mclay to show up Taylor was flying around in circles high above.

"Havin fun Tay?"

She squealed and they chuckled. "And she said she was going to be a liability."

"Taylor doesn't really think very highly of herself."

"Why?"

Leo shrugged, "She seems perfect to me. Hey Taylor, come closer to the ground just in case you transform again."

She squealed then flew lower to the ground soon Ms. Mclay walked in and paused when she saw Taylor. "Seems like Taylor's power is bigger than we thought."

Taylor squealed as Ms. Mclay walked over to her and started to observe her.

"Why do you think she got two powers?"

"Well these abilities really tie together. Everyone knows that vampires have sharp fangs and can turn into bats."

"These are the only ones she should have right?"

"Yeah, I don't really know much about the abilities but I'm pretty sure none of them has had more than one."

"Okay, do you have any idea when our powers should come?"

"I don't even know what your powers would be. Especially since Taylor's is a lot different than I expected."

"Well that's great."

"What's going on outside?"

"Nothing other than what you'd expect. Everyone's staying in their homes and freaking out. Everyone's talking about you guys."

"Are the cops on your tail?"

"No one knows anything, but I'm remaining cautious."

Taylor squeals before she starts to grow and transforms back into a human. "Have you heard anything from our parents?"

"... Nothing that I think you'd wanna hear."

Taylor's head dropped and Kaline pulled her into a hug while trying to keep her eyes from watering.

"I'm really sorry kids…"

"You don't need to apologize, we just need to find a way to fix this."

"Can you tell us more about the clones?"

"Um… alright, well over the time the clones haven't been really successful in trying to kill the king. A king hasn't been killed ever since Alric came into power. His father was killed by clones but he couldn't find them. After he was killed it was like the clones… disappeared."

They exchanged looks.

"So the clones were never found again?"

"Not the ones that killed the king."

Kaline and Leo sighed, they suddenly realized what they had to do to get everything back to normal.

"What are you kids thinking about?"

"... We have to kill Alric."

"What? Are you insane? I thought you were gonna forget about that."

"We can't forget about it."

"It's the only way we're gonna get out of here."

"Kids Alric has killed clones for thousands of years. You won't stand a chance."

"We have to try."

"No you don't."

"You don't understand Ms. Mclay."

"Well then tell me so I can."

"It's hard to explain."

"It can't be that difficult."

"Please Ms. Mclay just trust us."

"... Kids, it's dangerous."

"It can't be anymore dangerous than staying here. They'll find us eventually."

Ms. Mclay sighed, "It's your decision kids. Um, I gotta go for a second, I'll come back with dinner later."

"Thanks Ms. Mclay."

"I'll see you kids later, call me as soon as someone else gets their ability."

"Yes ma'am."

After Ms. Mclay leaves Taylor falls to the floor and groans. "I can't believe we have to kill the king."

"It's the only way to get home Tay."

"This is crazy! We're gonna get killed."

"We're not gonna get killed. We're gonna kill the king."

"I bet all the other clones thought that too."

"Guys we have to try, it's either stay in hiding for the rest of our lives or kill a bastard so we can go back to normal. I wanna go back to my old life, the life where I didn't have to stay in my house in risks of getting attacked by blood sucking men in shades."

"The three of us don't even have our abilities yet. Maybe we should wait until then to start thinking about the whole kill the king thing."

"Yeah for right now let's just try to relax."

A couple of days later the kids were eating dinner with Ms. Mclay. There were still no sign of any of the others abilities. Taylor was working with her powers and was even starting to get the hang of them.

"Hey Ms. Mclay can I ask you something?'

"Sure Leo what is it?"

"Can we go outside tomorrow?"

"Leo, I said you're not allowed to go outside until you all have your powers."

"Taylor has hers and she's got the hang of them. And I've been working on those guns I have."

"Why would you want to go outside anyway?"

"We're getting tired of staying in this house all day."

"It is getting pretty bad."

"We're starting to drive ourselves crazy. We keep on looking over each other's shoulders, staring out the windows. We need a break and out there is the only place we feel calm."

"You kids know my rule--"

"Please Ms. Mclay, we really need this."

"We'll be careful we promise!"

"... I don't know."

"Just for an hour."

"... Fine… but only an hour."

"Thank you!"

They all hugged her and she started to laugh, "Okay okay get off of me."

The next day as soon as they woke up they ran to the park as fast as they could. When they got there they headed to the bench and started talking.

"You like your powers Tay?"

"Yeah, I'm getting pretty comfortable with turning into a bat. And I can control my fangs, but I still don't see the use of them."

"I'm sure we'll find out everything soon."

"I can't believe we don't have our powers yet."

"We'll get em soon Jordan."

"Hopefully sooner than later, the sooner we get our powers, the quicker we can get out of here."

"Well until then we have our weapons to protect us."

"Don't you think we should be a little more discreet than this?"

"No one's awake during the day, the only ones who could find us are the cops."

"And I'm pretty sure they'd be good at spotting figures whispering in the shadows."

"Yeah I guess you have a point."

They continue to talk when suddenly they start to hear footsteps. They look around but they don't see anyone.

"Guys I think we should go."

But as they start to get up Kaline suddenly disappears. "Kaline?"

"Ah shit!"

"Kaline!"

Taylor transformed into a bat and started to fly while looking for Kaline. Leo and Jordan ran after her until they saw her soar down the floor and heard Kaline scream.

"Guys over here! Those guns would come in handy right now!"

They ran over to them until they saw Taylor attacking an officer while he was trying to swat her away Kaline ran to Leo and Jordan but as Leo was about to shoot the gun disappeared from his hands.

"Shit!"

Leo reached for his other gun, but it was already gone. "Guys, we just got another problem."

Taylor squealed and when they looked up they saw a tree flying towards them.

When suddenly they were both tackled and the ground shook when they hit it, the tree flew over them. They looked up and saw Kaline on top of them.

"How the hell did you do that?" Leo asked.

"I guess I've got my ability."

"Why did the ground shake?"

"It might've been the strength ability."

"But who has it?"

One of the officers ran towards them but before he could react Jordan punched him and he flew back into a tree.

"Oh my god."

Suddenly they hear Taylor squeal and see her fall to the ground.

"Taylor!"

Kaline runs over to her but the vampires manage to grab her. Taylor launches at one of their necks and quickly bites down he screamed in pain before he fell to the floor. He looked down at his hands in complete disbelief. It looked like color was coming back to him, and he felt his fangs retract, he slowly took off his sunglasses and he didn't fall asleep.

"Damn it!" the other growled.

He quickly grabbed him before they sped off. Taylor transformed back to normal before she and Kaline went back over to the boys.

"How'd you do that?"

"I don't know."

"Your bite turned him back."

"So it does the opposite?"

"Looks like it."

Suddenly they hear loud bang.

"We better go."

"Everybody hold on." They all held onto Kaline before they sped off back to the house.
