As soon as Kaline got to class she ran to the seat next to Jordan. "I'm so glad you're here."
"I'm glad you're here too."
"What'd your parents say?"
"Nothing, they hardly said a word to me."
"I'm sorry."
"Thanks, but that just shows we need to fix this now."
"Yeah, but how are we gonna do it?"
"Okay class, today we're going to be talking about the Clones."
"This will get us started."
"As you know, our magnificent King Alric has ruled for hundreds of years."
"So magnificent yet his people barely ever see him."
"Jordan."
"Sorry."
"But sadly not everyone worshipped the king as much as we do. And it all started with the Clones."
"Why do they call them the Clones?" a student asked.
"The Clones, aren't really normal vampires like you and I. Each clone has one distinct ability of an average vampire. Like one clone may have the ability of speed while the other has the ability of strength. Since each clone only has one ability theirs is almost ten times stronger than an average vampire's. The clones are also completely immune to marking."
"God damn it!" Jordan said under his breath.
"Calm down."
"Jordan, Kaline, please."
They went silent and let her continue with the lesson.
After class was over when Jordan and Kaline was about to walk out Ms. Mclay stopped them, "Jordan, Kaline, can you come over here please?"
"... Yes ma'am."
They walked up to the desk and Ms. Mclay said, "Would you like to explain why you were talking during class?"
"Sorry, Ms. Mclay we were just worried about something."
"I didn't know you two were close."
"Oh, we met a couple of days ago."
After the last student walked out Ms. Mclay got up and locked the door. "I know you're the clones."
They froze, "Wh-what do you mean?"
"You don't have to try to pretend, I'm not gonna hurt you."
"... Why not?"
"You didn't have the choice to be Clones. And besides, you're just kids, you don't know any better. You don't deserve the punishments they plan out for you."
"Do you think they would kill us?"
"Dear, they would make you wish you were dead. Which is why I'm not reporting you."
"But I think we're getting a bit ahead of ourselves here, we're not sure if we're the clones."
"Don't you kids have your marking today?"
"... Yeah, how'd you know?"
"Everyone's invited to one's marking."
"Fantastic," Jordan groaned.
"Look if the marking doesn't work that means you really are the Clones, and you have to get out of there as fast as possible."
"But we don't have any vampire abilities."
"... Then I'll get you out of there."
"Ms. Mclay you don't have to do that."
"... I feel like I do. I don't want you kids getting hurt."
"What about our friends? You don't even know them."
"I'll get you all out of there I promise."
"Thanks Ms. Mclay."
"No problem kids."
Later that night the kids were all heading to the castle to receive their marking. While they were on their way they were texting each other in a group chat.
"You guys ready?" Jordan asked.
"No way," Kaline responded.
"This is all so scary," said Taylor.
"Don't worry, Ms. Mclay will help us."
"Are you sure we should trust your teacher? Who's to say she isn't working for the king?" Leo questioned. We don't know what the hell is going on in this universe. She could've been there to find you guys."
"I trust her."
"I do too."
"It's the only chance we have right now so we might as well try it."
"I guess."
"Have any of you gained your abilities yet?"
"No."
"Nope."
"Not yet."
"Hopefully we get em soon," said Jordan.
"Yeah, they'd come in handy right about now."
When they all reached the castle they saw a large crowd surrounding it.
They met in the middle of the crowd where Kaline hugged Taylor. Taylor whispered, "I'm scared, my parents haven't been the same since earlier."
"Don't worry, we'll be okay."
When they turned they saw officers standing in front of them.
Draven walked out and he asked, "You kids ready?"
Kaline heard Taylor sigh so she grabbed her hand. Taylor smiled at her before she closed her eyes. The officers fangs started to grow and their eyes were turning red.
They all closed their eyes and waited but didn't feel anything. They opened their eyes to see everyone staring at them. Some people looked disgusted, others looked terrified, others were blank, they just had no emotion on their faces. It's like they were frozen in fear.
"Why are they staring at us like that?"
"Guys… it didn't work."
Jordan and Kaline started to look for Ms. Mclay in the crowd but they didn't see her anywhere.
"Where is she?" they thought.
Draven walked up but right before he was able to say a word the kids suddenly appeared in a building they didn't recognize. It was an older building and it was pretty dirty. There were stains on the dark beige walls and there were spider webs in a lot of the corners. There was a darkish green couch, a table in the middle of the room and a brown desk and black chair in the far right.
"Where are we?" Taylor asked.
"Oh my gosh, that was a close one. I was so worried I wouldn't be able to grab you all in time."
They turned and saw Ms. Mclay locking the door, Jordan and Kaline let out a sigh in relief. "We're so happy to see you Ms. Mclay."
"Honestly I'm surprised I was able to go through with it. Don't get me wrong I meant what I said but it's all just so hard to process I mean betraying the kingdom like this, endangering the king, all in a matter of a millisecond."
"We can't thank you enough," Jordan continued, "This is Leo and Taylor."
"Nice to meet you both."
"Thank you so much for what you've done. We, of course, had our doubts at first."
"Oh I completely understand, it must be hard to trust anyone in your situation. Sorry again for the little delay, I was organizing this place for you."
"You didn't have to do that Ms. Mclay."
"I couldn't just get you out of there and leave you on the street. What would be the point of helping you in the first place?"
"This is the nicest thing anyone has ever done for us."
"Well, I'm not done yet. You kids clearly need to eat and you can't wear the same clothes every day, so I'll be grocery shopping for you."
"What?"
"Don't you think that's a bit much?"
"Not at all, it's only common courtesy."
"Ms. Mclay saying bless you when someone sneezes is common courtesy, this is miracle work."
Ms. Mclay smiled, "Well I'm glad you kids like it. But of course, I have some rules that you have to follow."
"No problem."
"Firstly, you need to stay in the house at all times. If you ever want to go out you need to tell me first so I can approve of it. I won't let you out until you figure out what your abilities are. Second, I need you to get rid of anything that the officers can track. You shouldn't really be communicating with anyone other than each other and me so you don't need phones. We'll use a desktop computer that I have for you to do research or anything like that. Which leads me to my next rule, stay together at all times. Even when you get your powers you will be incredibly vulnerable when you are alone. So I need you to never separate unless you're in this house. Got it?" They all nodded. "Good, if I think of anything else I'll let you know but for now get rid of your phones and get settled in your rooms. Boys your room is on the left and girls your room is on the right."
"Thank you again Ms. Mclay."
"It's my pleasure, now hurry go on."
As soon as the girls stepped into the room they saw white colored walls, there were two beds on each side of the room, one had the letter K above it the other had the letter T above it. There was a desk in between the beds with a light blue lamp on top, there was a white closet on the side of the room that was decorated with light blue flowers.
"This is amazing."
"I can't believe Ms. Mclay did this for us."
"Hey, give me your phone."
Taylor passed Kaline her phone and Kaline took out hers before she threw them onto the floor, then stomped on them repeatedly until they were both in pieces.
"Help me gather the pieces."
They collected the pieces and threw them out the window.
"I can't believe this is really happening."
"Don't think too much about it. We have a great place to live and we have each other, we'll be fine."
Taylor smiled but then she reached for her mouth.
"You okay?"
"Yeah I just felt this ache in my mouth."
"Do you need a doctor?"
"No… I don't think so…"
Taylor slowly opened her mouth to show sharp fangs slowly grow out.
"What is it?"
"... I think you're getting your abilities."
