Forgotten Women

Everything hurts when you've realised,

No one else remembers

Blatantly ignored--erased

Wiped from the minds of the populace

They're dancing, burning embers

Once dazzling, now irrelevant, men are listless

Two faced expectations a scourge

History ripped from the books

Stereotypes we have to purge

They only care about their looks

To sit dimly like a doll

Mouth shut, heads held down

They'd all rather fall

Shatter on the ground at dawn

Looking at the blazing sun

Burning with their rage and indignation

The status quo undone

I'd like an invitation
