Chapter 11: Motherly Dictator

I could hear the sovereigns cries as our dictator, my mom, dragged me away. Through the darkened white hallway, we made our way to her room. A dim light filled the room through the blinds on the windows. Until this point, I didn't move once. Her bestial grip dragged me from living room to bedroom. As the prey of a superior predator, my heart used the "play dead" strategy. I could only stare at her tired emerald eyes, a smile painting atop her pale lips in response.

Finding the nearest night table, mom placed her coffee on it. Proceeding to collapse on the bed. Dragging me in like a plush toy. Her blonde locks fluttered behind her as she stared in a warm look. Her arms wrapped around me, reeling me close. I shook in her arms for a moment, my breath shaking. Red flashed in my eyes, fading away with every sweet stroke of her hand.

"Did something happen yesterday?" the faint whisper blending into my implant. Vibrant rustles of those leaves returned to my ears. The image engraved in me overnight returned once again. *Sigh* just what I'd expect from my mom. Struggling to flee her clutches, I release one of my hands.

"I was being pathetic in front of someone else" trying my best to spell it through her tightening grasp. To which she chuckled, her eyes shining on my own.

"You met a girl and told her of your trauma right?," her warm voiced filled my core with fear. "Is this the power of my mother," I thought, making an oath to never piss her off, ever.

"I see you've encountered-" The sovereign tried to slide into the conversation, but he stopped. Mother's kind look turned into a dark, freezing glare. Her daggers dug into the sovereign, forcing him to sulk away into the hallway. "I better double down on that oath" I engraved this thought into my soul. Her eyes then fell on me, a devilish glow still on them.

"Now tell me everything about her" her kind smile and sweet voice invoked the fear of god in me. Nodding, I squish my hands out of her grasp, trembling my way into telling her. Her eyes melted into a warm stare. My lungs pleaded for help as her "hug" got tighter.

"Your changing..." her words faded into the air after letting me go. She placed a pillow over her face before telling me to leave. After a brief shock, I concede to her words. Heading to the attic, I ignore the sovereign as he wept in the hallway. Reaching the end of the hallway, I stop. I look at the lovely string hanging from the roof. Pulling on it, a door opens in the roof. Revealing the staircase to a silent paradise. Dust invades my lungs as I climb into the gentle light of that place.

Reaching the top, sunlight scorches my eyes through the open window. Behind it lied the silent silhouette of my voice, my piano. Walking my way toward it, I felt my skin crawl. My lips curled into a smile while I sat in the chair before it. Hands rising, world slowing, and so begins the favorite part of my day.
