"Hey." Alice greeted the caller with the most enthusiasm she could gather. Unfortunately, it didn't sound like much. "Jesus, you sound upset. Are you okay, Alice?" The caller asked over the phone. "I'm fine, Levi. What's up?" The girl responded to her friend. "You even look upset." He mumbled, but Alice still heard him. Her eyes scanned the corridors of the building. "Where are you hiding, Parker?" Alice said as the boy laughed over the speaker. "To your left, sunshine." He said playfully. A bit dumbfounded by the sudden pet name, she eventually spotted Levi leaning against the wall next to a room at the end of the hall. Levi smiled cutely and hung up, walking towards where Alice was sitting. When he got to the bench, he took a seat and looked at his friend. "What are you doing here? You're not following me are you?" Was the first thing Alice said to Levi as he sat down. He raised an eyebrow at the girl and replied. "I should say the same for you."
"I'm visiting my mom with my aunt. They're talking inside. What about you?" Alice spoke first. "I'm not following you. My brother fell down the stairs yesterday and broke his leg. My father and I came to check on him." He said with a small laugh. "You have a brother?" Alice said surprised. Levi nodded and glanced at her.

"So, what's going on with you that you're so down? Sounds like your mood's hit bedrock." Levi said teasingly. I rolled my eyes. "Just a little overwhelmed by the situation, that's all." I said with a heavy sigh. Levi rested his arms on his thighs. "So, I'm not the only one." He responded. I looked up at him confused. "What do you mean?" I asked. He sighed softly and tilted his head back until it hit the wall. "Levi... do you wanna talk about it?" I said softly, however what he said next, I was not prepared for. "Depends. Do you wanna hear about it and are you willing to listen?" Levi raised an eyebrow at me. Levi, if I could, I would give you an award for acknowledging it. There are people who ask if they wanna talk about their problems, and then don't listen! Or when they do, it's a lot worse than they expected and end up not listening or saying we're dramatic. "I'd like to receive it in my mailbox." Levi's voice pulled me out of my thoughts, that I realized I had said out loud. My face turned red out of embarassment, but it's not like I was kidding. "Hey, I'm just teasing. There really are people like that and I think asking if they wanna hear about it is a good way to bring down their pride." He said with a small laugh. I nodded and leaned back in my chair. "Sure. I'm all ears, Parker." His eyes widened a bit. I laughed and looked at him in disbelief. "What? You really think I'm that bitch? I'd never do that to a friend." I said to the boy who was now wearing a grin on his face. "I'll text you. My dad's looking for me." Levi said, glancing at his phone. I waved at him as stood up and walked back to his brother's room. At the same time, I went back into my mother's room.
"Sorry about that. I had a hard time finding the bathroom." I lied. My aunt knew what I was going through and how it made me feel, but she doesn't know what it's actually like to be lied to and then left to fix the problems he left behind. "It's okay, Alice. Bella told me that you've made a few friends at school! I'm so glad you're finally coming out of your shell. It's a miracle that hoodie was thrown away. It was keeping you hidden." My mother said, sounding as delightful as ever. "It really was. Wasn't it?" I said sarcastically. Mom and Aunt Bella heard this and laughed. "I've missed you. I really hope you're doing well. You're not angry at your father anymore, are you?" my mother asked me. You tell me. I don't feel any remorse towards him, but when I see him, I'd like to crush his skull. "No. He had no choice." I said calmly. But he did have a choice to at least talk to us every once in a while. "That's wonderful. I wouldn't want his foolish mistake to interfere with your life." My mom said satisfied. "It's a miracle she's got your genes." Aunt Bella said jokingly. We laughed at the witty remark and continued to talk when a nurse entered the room. "I'm sorry to interrupt, but Miss Emily needs to take her medicine and rest. I'm gonna have to ask you to leave." The nurse said politely. We nodded and said goodbye before leaving the room.
We passed by Levi and his father on our way out. I did a small wave to him as we passed by. He did the same and walked past us. When we got into the car, my aunt watched me put on my seatbelt before driving home.
As soon I set foot in the house, I ran straight towards my room. I changed into my pajamas and flopped down on my bed. Hospitals are so mentally exhausting. My phone buzzed next to me. I checked and saw a text notification from Levi. That's right! We were gonna continue the conversation we had at the hospital.

Alice: damn.. we a whole group yet u ain't got enough trust in the others to talk to them bout ur issues and here u are telling me. The newest member of the gang who u literally met 2 days ago
Levi: it was easier to make friends with the 3 of you than with elia, eddie, and jake ://
Alice: y?
Levi: the 3 of u were the shy and quiet kids with hidden interests. The other 3 were so out there. Jake was the class clown in elementary, elia was like the star because of her performing, and eddie was popular among girls for his looks. It was hard to tell whether the friendship was genuine or not..
Alice: i see...

Author's Note:
Hey, I hope you enjoyed chapter 2 of Kill List. Things haven't gotten spicy yet, but maybe they will in the 3rd chapter. This chapter was pretty short and mostly consisted of texts. I'll admit this was pretty bad, but oh well.
Also, I'd like to note that I have no idea how people speak in the UK, so as a safe approach to this story, Alice studies at an American school in London. A lot of the students are also American and haven't quite adapted to English culture.
Thanks for reading!
As you can see, the second number still hasn't moved. I wonder why?
Keep reading and maybe you'll see that number go up. Stay safe everyone! 🤭🤭
