An omen of death that brings about the demise of the person who
encounters it...THE GRIM. The Grim is a large, black, menacing, spectral dog that
no one would want to encounter. Tonight, I'm going to tell you the tale of a little
girl who had the misfortune of crossing its path.
One day a little girl no younger than eight with long blonde hair that shinned
like the sun was walking home from a sleepover with her friends. As she was
strolling down the boulevard a frigid whirlwind brushed her figure striking her with
a feeling of turmoil. Gone was her happy go lucky mood and in its place was one of
foreboding, scanning the area around her for the cause of her ailment she realized
the streets where empty. Not one person could be seen, not even a car; all the
doors and windows where closed and the shades pulled shut, not a person was seen
not one.
The girl realizing, she was alone and vulnerable began to walk rapidly, the
silence unnerved her causing an increase in the blonde's brisk pace. She could hear
her heart hammering against her chest like it was trying to escape, to flee. The
little girl was now sprinting down the sidewalk trying to get home as fast as she could, home where her mother was waiting for her; home where she would be safe.
As she took off like a bat out of hell, she almost didn't notice the lustrous
bleached eyes staring at her...almost.
Noticing she wasn't alone was not a comforting thought, the feeling of
unease increased. Frowning she looked at the lustrous bleached eyes closely and
noticed they belonged to a large charcoal colored shape, the young girl looked over
the figure and froze; she recognized the shape...it was......... THE GRIM.
Alarmed she turned her back to the omen of death and shot off down the
street and she didn't stop until she got to the porch of her home. Calming down she
basked in the comfort of her home, looking at the light blue colored house with its'
dark grey shutters; the little girl felt a sense of peace. Feeling better she entered
her home and went to the kitchen to see her mother leaning over the stove brewing
some tea. "Mom I'm back", called the little girl as she hung her coat up on the rack.
Her mother a youthful looking woman with blonde hair much like her daughter's
turned around and smiled at her little girl. "Welcome Susie, did you have a nice
time at your sleepover?", asked her mother warmly, glad her little girl was home.
Susie nodded happily and hugged her mother before she was sent upstairs to wash
up for dinner. The incident with the grim long forgotten; but not for long. Right in the
thicket of trees in the backyard of the house deep in the shadows waited the grim.
Waiting for night to fall and for all the occupants of the light blue house to fall
asleep. The game would be over soon, and then the real fun would begin.
After dinner little Susie went up to bed and got ready to sleep, but alas
sleep was out of reach and had no desire to be caught. Susie tossed and turned but
could not fall asleep. As the moon was shining at its brightest our little Susie fell
into a restless sleep unaware of the grim that was approaching. The grim slipped
from the shadows and over to the bed of sweet little Susie, sneakily it scooped her
up and left the house; deep into the woods the grim ran farther and farther until
not even the moon could be seen. The grim carried our sleeping victim deeper into
the dark forest, not one sound could be heard; suddenly the forest opened to
reveal a dark chasm with no light at the bottom. The grim jumped into the chasm
and as it began its descent into the darkness little Susie woke up, looking around
she noticed the grim holding her blanket and in extension her. Susie screamed at
the top of her lungs in terror, but it was too late no one could hear her, only the
grim. The dark chasm came to an end revealing a tunnel, Susie struggled to get
free but the grim kept a firm hold on her and began to walk down the tunnel. When
the tunnel reached an end, Susie let loose a wail, the tunnel opened up into a large space but what terrified her was the large space was filled with large black dogs
each one bigger and scarier than the last. The grim had brought her to its home to
share her with the others. The grim walked to the middle of the room and dropped
Susie to the ground, the others gathered around her and then with a howl Susie
was tackled by thousands of large black dogs with white eyes. Susie screamed in
pain as she was torn into by the large teeth of the grim, the others joined in the
large space was filled with screams of pain and the sound of tearing flesh. Little
Susie had met her end, she was never seen from again; after all no one can bring
back the dead....or can they.
