Nothing I Haven't Seen Before

"You want me more than you'll ever admit."

...

Bolting the door behind me, I place our bags on the bed and take out fresh clothes for Tara. Walking into the washroom, followed by her, I hand her a towel and point her to where facewash, soap, shampoo and hand-shower is. I place her clothes on the counter where she can reach for them and turn around to face her, "Let me know if you need any help. I'm right outside, okay?"

"Okay," she nods her head before tugging on my arm, "Mommy always washed my hair. I don't know how to wash it."

I can't help but smile at her. "Let me help you then," I say and turn her around so that her back is facing me. I finger-comb her medium length hair first, untangling the knots and then carefully run lukewarm water over her head to wash and rinse her hair free from all the flour.

Squirting a quarter size amount of shampoo in my hand, I gently massage it into her scalp.
