"Ayan...? She's not going to take Tara, right?" I touch his arm, looking in his eyes for confirmation that never comes.

"Um, I don't know how it's between you two, so I'll clear any misunderstanding that might be created because of Ayan's incapability to say yes. Yes, Naira, I will take my daughter Tara and go back to Pune."

"You can't do that!" I cry out, blinking tears. "She's better off here, and it's not as if you care about her. Why do you have to take her away?"
