Cackling Skeleton

"Thank you for accepting this obsessive, weird, complicated, difficult, messy, imperfect, and stubborn person. She has an everlasting love for you too."

...

"Naira," mom speaks on call, causing me to groan once again. "Where are you? Why haven't you reached home yet?"

"Mom, I'm almost there," I breathe impatiently. "I'm just ten minutes late because the school bus was stuck in traffic. Why do you keep calling me?! It's not as if I'm an hour late... It has only been five minutes and you're acting as if you haven't seen me in days!"

This is the third call I've gotten from her in the past twenty minutes, and I can't even cut the call because she is my mother and I have to eventually come back home to her. Besides, hanging up on mom is the equivalent of entering a lion's den... you just don't do it!

"Nevermind, come home quickly," she mutters and hangs up the call.

"I'm trying to!" I grunt to no one in particular once the call ends.
