Just You and Me

After Jinn drove from the bar, he and Kai went to a restaurant, where all the seats were red booths and the floors checkered, a sixties themed family restaurant. Jinn smirked at he watched his googly eyed childlike man of a lover marvel at the setting, Kai had never been to a restaurant like this before.

"Know what you want to eat?", asked Jinn as he looked down at the menu.

"Hmmm.", said Kai as he began to flip through the menu. "Think I'll have a double cheeseburger and…."

"Onion rings, because they're better than fry's, right?", said Jinn finishing the sentence for Kai with a smirk on his face.

Kai looked up at Jinn with his eyes squinted, "because you know me so well.", he said rolling his eyes as he smirked and Jinn chuckled.

When the waiter came around, the two ordered, Jinn also getting a double cheeseburger with French fries and a strawberry short-cake milk shake.

After about a fifteen-minute wait, the food had arrived the two were eating picking off of each other's plate, only Kai had his eye on Jinn's milkshake the most.

"No.", said Jinn out of nowhere.

"What do you mean no?", said Kai with a giggle.

"No, you can't taste my milkshake.", said Jinn as he took another bit of his burger.

"I never said I wanted any!", Kai pouted.

Jinn smirked as he swallowed, "you don't have to, I see you staring.", Jinn responded and Kai busted out laughing, as well as Jinn. Jinn happened to notice things that Kai didn't even think he paid attention to, and that was real love.

"I have something better to offer you.", said Jinn.

"And what's that?"

"It'll be thanksgiving soon, and I don't plan on spending it with my parents this year.", said Jinn.

Kai raised a brow, "so where will you be?", Kai asked

"With you silly.", said Jinn as he sipped his milkshake.

"Oh no, I will not be the reason you don't show up for thanksgiving dinner, nope.", said Kai shaking his head.

A smirk made it's way onto Jinn's face, "It's no big deal, anywhere you want to go, we can go. I'd rather spend it with you anyway."

Kai smiled, although he'd love to go on a trip with Jinn, it just didn't feel right keeping Jinn away from his family for the holidays.

I'd love to go somewhere with you, but I wouldn't feel right if you missed the opportunity to be with your family Jinn.", said Kai.

Jinn allowed a small smile onto his face, "Then let's go somewhere before then."

"Anywhere?", said Kai as his face lit up.

"Anywhere, just say when.", said Jinn and Kai smiled, he needed to plan this carefully, this trip with Jinn needed to be absolutely perfect.

On the way home from the restaurant Jinn drove Kai to his apartment, there being stuff he wanted to grab before they went back to Jinn's. Jinn parked his car and the both of them got out going up to Kai's apartment. Reaching into his mailbox, Kai unlocked the door and went in.

"God my place feels so empty compared to yours.", said Kai, looking through his mail.

Jinn smirked, "it's because you're not here as much, you make places feel like home.", said Jinn, wrapping his arms around Kai and kissing his neck. Kai smiled as Jinn enveloped his body as he quickly flipped through his mail, "Ah, my least is up by the end of this month, I gotta see the landlord soon.", said Kai opening up the letter from his landlord."

Jinn removed his arms from around Kai taking the lease from Kai's hand, with his brows furrowed he looked closely, "how long have you been here?", he finally spoke.

Kai stared up at the ceiling for a moment and wiggled his fingers around to count, "Uh, Dana and I move in here over two and a half years ago, so it'll be almost three."

"I see.", said Jinn looking around with his usual blank poker face, handing the letter back to Kai. Kai smirked, taking the letter, tossing it on the coffee table and walked down the hall to his bedroom and Jinn followed. Kai opened his bedroom door, turning on his light and his face became horrified at the sight of his bedroom. The plain pale olive, green wallpaper had peeled down on each side and everything in his room was wet, everything!

"What the hell?" Kai yelled, quite upset that all his things were practically ruined! Jinn looked up at the ceiling to see that the ceiling was a darker color than he remembered, "Babe, call your landlord.", he said calmly, at least one of them had to remain calm in this situation.

Fuming, Kai snatched his phone out of his back pocket and dialed his landlord, Jinn watched with his brows furrowed as Kai was headed toward meltdown mode, a place he hated seeming him go.

"Hello Rick, this is Kai. I'm in apartment 206B. Listen, my bedroom is flooded, and the wallpaper is peeling, all my stuff is ruined!", Kai said, tension in his voice as he tried to keep himself calm while he was on the phone.

"Ahh, I'm sorry about your things, a piped busted last night in the apartment above you. Your lease is up soon isn't it? I'll put you in a new place and take $100.00 off of next months rent okay?", said the landlord trying to be nice and understanding. Rick wasn't a bad guy, but that wasn't going to replace what had been ruined, like Kai's thousand-dollar mattress or his stereo for example.

Kai put his hand over his face and sighed, "okay.", he finally responded and hung up the phone.

"What'd he say?", asked Jinn anxiously.

"The apartment above me flooded and since I haven't been here, things just kinda got fucked.", said Kai pulling his hands down off of his face, looking up at Jinn like a kicked puppy with tears in his eyes.

Jinn walked over, pulling him into his arms, and Kai awkwardly fell forward, burying his face into Jinn's chest. "baby it's okay, it's just stuff. We can always buy you new things.", said Jinn rubbing the back of Kai's head. Jinn looked around the messy wet room and sighed, thinking to himself. Although it was unfortunate, this situation had actually given Jinn the opportunity to ask Kai something he had been hesitant to ask for a while and now that Kai had said "I love you.", the timing couldn't be more perfect.

"Kai?", said Jinn

"Yeah?", Kai mumbled as his face was still buried in Jinn's chest.

"Since your least has to be renewed.", said Jinn pausing for a moment as he felt butterflies fluttering in his stomach. "Why don't you just move in with me?" The moment Jinn finished speaking Kai quickly lifted his head, both brows raised as he stared up at Jinn and Jinn back at him, his own expression somewhat nervous.

"Really?", said Kai.

"Well, yeah. You're always at my place anyway, it wouldn't be that much of a change.", said Jinn. Kai stood up straight and thought a minute, it was true that he spent more time at Jinn's place than his own place, not to mention it would save him money since he would be helping Dana pay rent for a while longer. That big pretty cheesy eye squinting smile made its way onto Kai's face and when Jinn noticed, he smiled, both dimples present, what was understood, didn't need to be said.

A few weeks had gone by and Kai had ended his least, moving out of his apartment. Selling most of his furniture that he and Dana had brought together, plus trashing most of the things in his bedroom, clearing out his place was easy. Kai filled his car with whatever he could get in there and Jinn took the rest, the both of them driving back to Jinn's apartment.

After everything had been moved upstairs and into their now joint apartment, the two flopped down on the couch tired after a long day.

"Ugh, I'm tired a fuck. Can you imagine if that was a house?" said Kai wrapping his arms around Jinn who had leaned back on his chest.

"You might as well start looking, because that is next.", said Jinn, but he spoke very quickly, barely above a whisper.

"Huh? What'd you say?" said, Kai?

"Ah nothing, hungry yet?", said Jinn with a smile on his face, dimples present per usual.
