Before Sunset

The horses sounded from the other side of the main doors. The quiet knights that spectated the whole scenario between Mina and I straightened their backs and the spears that they hold, awaiting the signal to open the doors. Someone had just arrived.

I take a few steps forward while watching Mina disappear inside one of the doors in the hallway. I remember that door leading to the smaller courtyard for the servants to do their chores. She left without looking back at me, nor did she allow me to see her face.

I decided to leave her be today since there are other matters that I have to attend to, and one of them would be to welcome my father back home. And as soon as I looked upfront, the doors open.

The cold wind rushes inside in a hurry that I hold my dress to keep it from flying. I look down, wiping the creases on my skirt before looking up and meeting the king with his raven on his shoulder.
