Chapter 13 - The Immortal Goes on Her First Movie Date

Sunday morning and I got woken up rudely by none other than Jiminie. Since he knew my passcode, he had entered my loft bright and early, announced his arrival loudly, climbed up the stairs before throwing himself on me - like he did not weigh a single pound.

I got the wind knocked out of me, my lungs spluttering in pain and I almost reacted in self-defence but stopped myself when I realised whom it was that had woken me up in the most savage way I had ever experienced in my life.

"Jiminie? What … what possessed you to wake me up like that?" I asked in a strained voice, nursing my stomach. "You could've knocked me out."

"Sorry!" he apologised, his eyes were round with apology. He made himself home on my stomach as he broke into a wide smile. "I was excited to spend the whole day with you!"

His eagerness made me sink back down on the bed with a groan. I can never get angry at him and even if I did, it didn't last long. I beckoned him closer, and he shimmied his way up. I wrapped my arm around his waist as I pressed my face onto his neck.

"Sleep first, we can do something later."

"Aww Alice!"

"I'm tired, baby," I said quietly, wrapping myself closer to him as I breathed in his calming vanilla scent, letting out a sigh at how it was able to ease my worries away so easily. "Just a few more hours."

I fell into a dreamless state akin to a sleep, for an immortal like me it was a simple method to recharge without causing any danger to my surroundings. I ought to heed Jaemin's advice and start feeding or I would befall harm onto my little one. I was getting exhausted more often.

And I had this wound too.

I woke up probably a few hours later, recharged and in the arms of my loved one. He was wide awake and playing a game on his mobile phone - a look of concentration on his face as he plays. He noticed me awake, and broke into a lopsided smile as he planted a kiss on my temple.

"You didn't move at all in your sleep," he said.

"What time is it?" I asked wearily.

"About two in the afternoon," he said. "Are you hungry? Do you want to eat something?"

"Yeah, let's go and eat," I said as I sat up with a stretch. "Why did you let me sleep for so long, little one?"

"You looked like you needed it."

I yawned.

"See, I told you."

I laughed. "Okay, you got me," I said. "I'll head for a shower."

Twenty minutes later, I got out of the bathroom wrapped in my bathrobe as I walked towards the walk-in wardrobe opposite. Pulling out an outfit including my underwear, I returned to the bathroom and wore them. Since it was cold, I ensured that I was bundled up warmly or it'd be odd.

Wearing a black turtleneck underneath, I had a loose fitting band t-shirt and a pair of faded black jeans. For accessories, a Gucci belt, earrings, silver rings and bracelet and a Rolex watch. I was humming away as I pulled on a pair of matching socks and stepped out of the wardrobe to where Jiminie was waiting on the bed.

"Let's go, little one."

"Wow," he breathed. "Now you look like your age."

"Gee thanks."

I grabbed a crossbody bag and filled my things in it, ensuring that I had everything in them before I climbed down the stairs to where my coat rack was. Jiminie was putting on his converse and his coat when I joined him there. Slinging the bag over, I put on my boots and grabbed a matching coat and my keys before we left the loft.

"Where shall we eat today?" I asked as we took the elevator down.

"I don't know," he admitted. "Anywhere is fine for me."

"What do you feel like eating?" I asked. "Ramen or western?"

"Western."

We stepped out of the elevator and headed towards where my car was usually parked. "How about we head to our favourite restaurant?" I asked as I unlocked the car and opened the driver's side door on the right. "And what shall we do after we eat?"

"Hmm, how about we watch a movie?" he asked excitedly. "There's one I want to watch!"

"Sure."

The drive to the restaurant took us fifteen minutes or so. We were regular customers, and I knew the owner so we always got a good seat whenever we came to eat. We ordered our usuals, and while we waited, Jiminie took out his mobile phone to mess around with it.

"Which seats do you wanna sit at?" he asked suddenly.

"What do you mean?"

"I'm choosing the seats for the movie we're about to watch," he said as he showed me his mobile phone and the screen showed rows upon rows of grey squares. "It's good to sit on the second to last row facing the screen. That's where the best sounds are."

"Do these squares mean that we're going to sit with other strangers?" I asked.

"Yeah."

"Do we have other options?"

"Yeah but they're expensive," he said.

"Get those," I said quietly and handed him my card. "Get some snacks too."

Every time I gave him my card, he would always stare at it like he couldn't believe his eyes. I could feel a smile creep up my lips as I looked at him. He will blink at it like it could explode on him anytime and he doesn't dare hold it too. I just find his reaction adorable and I would laugh at him.

"It's just a card, Jiminie," I said.

"It's … it's not just any card, Alice!" he cried out in a whisper. "It's a black card!"

"Yes, baby," I replied softly as I held his hand, rubbing my thumb soothingly on his wrist. "I know."

"I keep forgetting that you're rich," he said with an embarrassed laugh.

"It's alright, bub."

Smiling softly at him, he booked tickets to the movies and our food and drinks arrived soon after. Keeping the card once he was done, we indulged into the food and we fell into a calm rhythm together - as we had been seeing the other lesser, it was one of the few moments that we talked to catch up on our lives.

As we talked, I was reminded of the fact that my time with the little one was precious and my throat tightened up the longer I looked at him. I don't know what I would do without him. He was my life, my world and he filled up my entire galaxy. I would do anything for him, and it scared me.

My life is in his frail, fragile hands.

After we were done eating, we paid and left the restaurant to head back to the car so I could drive us to the shopping mall nearby. Since we still had time before the movie started, we decided to take a walk around the mall for a while - holding hands as we strolled.

His hand has grown larger for the past few months, he was growing at an alarming rate and he was already towering a few inches above me. He was twice in size now, and he was no longer the adorable little kid that I watched grow. Jiminie is now finally a man, who I will cherish for the rest of my eternal life.

"Alice?"

"Hmm?"

"It's almost time for the movie," he said. "Let's go."

"Okay."

He dragged me towards the escalator - heading up to the highest floor where the cinema is usually situated. My eyes were round with surprise, and I let Jiminie handle everything; looking around the front part of the cinema and noticed the display of popcorn, drinks, snacks and other assortments that they were selling behind the cashier.

We weren't the only ones queuing to get our tickets and snacks. There were families and couples alike, so I assumed that going to a cinema was a norm amongst the mortals. Jiminie got our drinks and snacks, handing me a cup to hold as we headed inside; showing our tickets to a staff member before they allowed us inside.

We climbed up carpeted stairs where there were rows of halls flanking us on our left and right. I followed Jiminie down the carpeted hallway - the walls were decorated with eye-catching movie posters that were being shown currently and we entered Hall 1 on the farthest left.

The space opened up to a large hall with an enormous screen at the front and I followed Jiminie down a couple flights of stairs. There were only ten pairs of seats per row, a different layout as compared to the one that I saw on Jiminie's phone. We walked down to Row M and sat down on Seat 5 and 6.

Slotting the cup on the cup holder, I put my bag aside and made myself comfortable. The chair was wide and soft, and I was far away from another pair of strangers. It was very interesting, a very cool concept. I caught Jiminie staring at me with a little smile which prompted me to ask.

"What is it?"

"Is this your first time watching a movie, Alice?" he asked.

"Yes," I admitted.

"Then I hope you'll enjoy this movie," he said warmly. "I picked out a good one!"

"Okay!"
