I woke up with a grin and jumped off my bed. I hurried over to the mirror Mother gave me for my birthday last year. I used my hands to smooth down my hair and grabbed my favorite blue dress that a maid had put out the day before.
I threw off my pajamas and pulled the dress over my small frame. I pulled on some socks and quickly ran out of my room.
I went down the stairs so fast, I slid. I giggled in delight at each bump. Once my feet hit the bottom, I kept running until I bumped into Mother on my way to the dining hall.
She put her hands on her hips. "What are you doing dressed like that, silly girl!"
She tried to grab me but I darted away, laughing. After a few more tries, I let her grab me. I shrieked in delight.
"Come now, the birthday girl needs to be properly dressed and ready for her big day!" She exclaimed.
I giggled "Yes Mother,"
We back up upstairs to my room where she sat me in front of my mirror. She gently brushed my hair as she hummed softly. I smiled. I wish things are always like this, I thought.
