29.

She finished brushing my hair and we downstairs and waited for Father to come down.

Mother patted my head softly as I leaned into her touch. She had an almost distant look on her face as if she were detached from what was happening. When my Father came down, with his best suit. She snapped out of her daze and focused on the present. I didn't notice her strange behavior and looked at Father with excitement.

"Shall we be off?" Father said with a smile. I smiled back at him and nodded. He took my hand and we left in the family car.

"Just drive us," Father said to the driver.

The driver nodded. "Certainly, sir,"

"So where do you want to go on your special day?" Mother warmly asked me.

"The amusement park!" My body quivered in excitement at the thought of all the fun I'll have there.

Father lightly frowned in disapproval.

"Edmond..." Mother sighed exasperated. "Just let her go, let her have some sense of a normal childhood,"

"Sasha...we both know she is not normal!" The smile on my face flickered and disappeared as I listened to them argue once again. "She is a Grover! Always will be, even we were to allow her to go she will never be like the other children!"

Mother glared at Father as both of their faces hardened to an unknown expression.

I looked down at my feet that dangled over the seat and counted up to ten in my head for the tears not to fall. The driver looked back at me in pity.

Father eventually gave out an unhappy sigh. "Driver!"

"Yes, sir?"

"Head to the amusement park, we'll be spending our time there,"

My head snapped up and I had a huge grin on my face.

"Yes, sir," The driver said as he drove to our destination.

I jumped up and down in my seat. "I can't wait!"
