Chapter 1

It started with FengGe, LongWei's older brother. They used to get along really well. It wasn't until their father had died and their mother fell ill, not too long after that.

FengGe instantly became the man of the house, always working leaving no time for LongWei. This led LongWei to distance himself from his big brother. He eventually found his own path although his brother disapproved.

LongWei wouldn't listen, he didn't realise his training was already taking effect. LongWei was able to hear the thoughts of other people around him including his brother. He had no idea how to gain control of it. It wasn't until LongWei said something to his mentor, his mentor knew exactly how to train him.

His mentor pushed him harder every session. His mother had stopped fighting and joined his father after FengGe had lost his life. LongWei took it even harder. He left home to complete his training, his mentor watched him religiously almost like he was waiting for something big to happen.

LongWei remembers his first week with his mentor. He found it really gruelling. It was so intense and extreme, he was ready to quit. Somehow LongWei found that little bit of resilience he had left and grabbed all the strength he could muster and ploughed through. In time LongWei knew he had done good in his training when he noticed his mentor's ever so slight smile.

LongWei kept persevering. Getting stronger and stronger to the point where his mentor decided to duel with him. At first LongWei was losing, but with a bit of harsh encouragement from his mentor LongWei was motivated and ended up gaining the upper hand to beat his opponent to the ground.

His mentor laughed, "LongWei, my boy! You have come so far that I think you are ready. Now you must do this alone. Trust your instincts and let it guide you. You will never get lost. I shall always be watching from afar." He bowed low after giving his last piece of guidance.

LongWei bowed and left as he felt something within himself stir, but he didn't know what it was. He felt something familiar like some form of connection. He stopped in his tracks and shook it off dismissing the feeling. As he continued walking he suddenly felt sharp pains running up and down his arms. When he looked down he noticed a scale on his left wrist then he looked on his right and there was a scale in the exact same place. LongWei hadn't noticed his skin had hardened. He examined each scale, feeling the smoothness. He didn't bother covering up. He wore them with pride. Although he was unsure of his destiny, he had a gut feeling he was on the right path.

With each passing day more and more scales appeared, they were also beginning to change to a slight turquoise colour. LongWei with all his training was put to the test and he won his first solo fight. Enemies underestimated his abilities and they quickly met their demise. He looked down at the fallen bodies and puffed out his chest, feeling invincible.

In a few months, LongWei looked as if he was wearing armour with a pearly turquoise tone. It shimmered in the sunlight and he could not stop admiring himself. People and creatures he did not know repeatedly charged at him from all angles. Many of them he struggled to fight off. He wanted to run, but he remembered his training and fought with all his power. Suddenly an ice cold blast shot out of his hands blasting everyone out of sight. He froze for a moment at what just happened before running away as far away as he could. Feeling overwhelmed with the second power he conjured from his palms. The first being his telepathy but he couldn't quite gain control. It took some time to try and find the trigger to control his ice power.
