'1.0' Falling

Unintentionally, I freeze. My thoughts jumped to Astrid, but last time I checked, her eyes weren't the size of tomatoes. My eyes wandered to the figure, my heart only resuming when a dragon head appears along with the eyes.

I sigh dramatically and put a hand on my chest while bending backward." Destiny," I breathe." You scared the living breath out of me. Literally." She pulled her head out of the bushes and faced upwards, letting out a laughing sound. I giggled at her actions and slowly made my way to her.

Although we trusted each other, I think its safe to say, I was still scared of her. After all, we only know each other, for what? Four days? She stepped out of the bushes letting the light reflect off her scales.

I held out my hand and moved downwards. She sniffed my fingers; which tickled, and licked my palm. I move my hand to the side of her face and scratch softly. She gave a blissful purr as she closed her eyes towards heaven. I gave a small smile.

After a while she stopped and glared at me, moving her face away from my hand. I frowned and quickly backed away. She showed her teeth and opened her wings intimidatingly. This of course was intimidating to me.

I clumsily tripped and fell to the ground, grunting. Destiny stepped closer and opened her mouth revealing purple-like light. My heart stopped for the third time today as she roared with fury.

My mind was fuzzy, but I knew to get out of the way. Hastily, I stumbled out of her range and ran for my life.

Pause. Okay, so, I want you to picture a teenage girl running through the woods at a ridiculous speed, at which her face can't keep up with her thoughts. Her eyes wider than an owl's, her neck almost bending backward like a giraffe's, and lastly; her hands trying to keep up, which I had to admit looked like jelly in the wind. Continue...

My body couldn't keep up with my legs as took a turn behind a tree and stopped. I lean against it and take deep but fast breaths. I slowly and very hesitantly peered over the tree trunk. There was nothing. Literally NOTHING.

I once again dramatically fall to the ground. My head and throat were sore from the sudden run for your life thing, so I still took deep breaths. When I collected myself I banged my hand on my head while muttering:" Stupid. Stupid. Stupid."

Then, I heard a blast. I froze with wide eyes. I gave a small whimper as I observed the clearing. And what I saw made me feel like an idiot. Destiny was standing in front of me, her back facing me and in front of her, as well, a Change wing.

My eye twitched. You can't be serious. I was running... For nothing?! I gave an irritated sigh to myself for my stupidity. That action of course got me attention. Both of the dragons peeked at me. " Hehe....hi?" I nervously greeted the Change wing while waving my hand. The next thing I knew was acid burning the wood where my face was. My mouth stood in a straight line.

I gave an obviously fake smile. " Nice to meet you too." I nod and run up to Destiny, hiding behind her. She gave a growl at the Change wing and readied another blast. My mind suddenly sprang to the Riders. What if...I could ride Destiny? Worth a shot... right?

" Sorry girl." I apologize quickly. My knees almost buckled under me as I quickly climbed on her neck. She gave a squeal and took off into the sky. I clawed at her neck, but her scales...she didn't really have them to say...

Luckily, I wrapped my arms around her neck. The air was getting thin and the speed at which she was going, didn't help either. The movement stopped, and idiotically I opened my eyes. We were so high.

She turned her body to the ground and dived. I let out a terrified scream. " DESTINY! THIS... ISN'T...WHAT..I.HAD...IN MIND!" I breathed. My eyes didn't take long to close.

The force of the wind was unbearable and my heart felt like it was flying. My head too, if I'm really being honest. My hand slipped and terror filled my core as the other one let it go too. ( .... Frozen jokes anyone?)

" THIS IS SOOOO NOT WHAT I HAD IN MIND!" I yelled. My mind went in self destruct mode since this was probably the thing that will end me. After a while of falling, I calmed down. Now I was just waiting to hit the ground.

" Huh. I guess being short does come in handy sometimes." I say to myself. My hand was holding my chin as a saw a blob. I couldn't identify the color of the blob, but I knew it was a blob.

I looked at it since there was a chance I was going to pass it. I squint my eyes in an undignified manner as I tried to identify the color of this blob. I tried to move closer seeing that I just might be able to reach it.

Oh, it's a red dragon.
