Frenimes

I breathed heavily from running too long.

"Mom, " I yelled "where are you?"

I checked the kitchen and the bedroom, but she wasn't anywhere. I tried the cell phone, but no one answered. That got me worried, a lot.

I suddenly heard a bang on the door, a loud bang.

"Open up, "said a guy's voice, loud and impolite.

My feet froze as I realized that maybe the people chasing me got here too. Window, I thought I would get out of the window and I ran to the window behind me.

"STOP!" a pale looking guy was standing just outside the window. He grabbed my wrist, hoping I won't run away anymore. 

"Look, we are not your enemies," he sounded serious, staring at my eyes. I could tell there was something making that guy worried too.

So I stopped to actually listen what he wanted to say.

"We just want to help you"

That is when I remembered, frozen people.

"What you saw was true," he said with a disappointed look "The people are FROZEN, most of them"

I knew it was true.The ice cream man, the old man and the people...they really are frozen. I am not mad...

Somehow, thinking this made me feel a little relaxed.

"But we are not" I asked in a polite voice as he lead me to his friends waiting for him.

"That's the mystery, Winter,"he chuckled lightly and then again came back to his not so good mood.

His name was Gale, the pale looking guy and in this short time he made me trust him a little bit .The reason maybe, was his protective way of talking.

I saw his friends standing on the right side of the  garage.

One of them was a girl with pigtails and an innocent looking face. She couldn't be more than fourteen or fifteen and the other one was a rude jerk. His black hair stood up like spikes and his white as vampire face stared at me, making me think I was not welcome there .

Gale introduced me to them.

"So you got the one you've been chasing for so long... Huh," the rude guy said.

I said nothing, although it felt like an insult.

"Elian, can't you be more polite," said the girl with pigtails.She gave me a hand to shake"Sarah"

"I am Winter,"I said, still confused.
