No Manager

Mina could not bear it anymore and started to ask questions, "Hi! May I ask to confirm that no one else came to become my manager? "

"I don't know," Manager Lim simply replied, scratching his head as a reply. "I was only informed to manage artist Jung Soojin's schedules."

"Yes?!" Mina exclaimed, her almond-shaped eyes went even rounder, "I don't have a manager, sir?"

Soojin could not help herself but smirk. It seemed like she was prioritized because she was the more talented and a more precious artist than her former best friend, Mina. In a few seconds, Soojin hid her expression by frowning and furrowing her brows.

"That would be hard for Mina," Soojin tried to act like she was worried, but she was happy for Hong Mina's misfortune. Even though she treated Mina as a friend, there was always an unspoken rivalry between them. "Is it not possible for her to receive a manager since it will be hard for her in the future if she ever receives roles?"

Mina turned her gaze towards the female employee, Nahee, who seemed to be the one in charge of welcoming new artists. "Ma'am, I have landed a lead role for a drama named Do you know who I am, and the script reading will start on Monday." Urgency plastered on Mina's face as she realized how hard it must be for her to shoot a drama without a manager. "I think it will be hard for me to go there all by myself."

"Well, I don't know about that," Nahee politely replied to Mina. "Miss Mina, I was told that you have to go to the office of the chairman's son after this."

"What?!" Mina exclaimed again, and this time, other employees around the area stared at her for a while and went their own way. She escaped with her awkwardly smiling at strangers and lowered her voice. "Miss Nahee, why do I have to go to the office of the chairman's son?"

Soojin was alarmed when the female employee mentioned Mina coming over to the chairman's son's office. She knew how Mina and Jeho were acquainted, but she knew how the bad blood started between them when they were in college, so she wondered why.

Kim Jeho must have chosen Mina to suffer,

"I don't know about that, Miss Hong," Miss Nahee replied to Mina with a half shrug. "I only knew that this short meeting will end soon and that you have to go to his office later. Kim Jeho-nim specifically asked for you."

It was true that she had no idea about it, but she was sure that Mina became the chosen one. It would be good and bad news for her as an employee and as a woman. But if she came and knew about it, surely, it was her choice as well, and no one would be blamed for it.

"Let's go, Miss Jung," Manager Lim spoke as he guided Soojin to go with him and discuss their schedules in a meeting room.

"Okay," Soojin briefly replied and called Mina over. "Mina-ya. I mean, Miss Mina, I have to go now. See you later!"

Mina awkwardly smiled, "Yes, see you later, Miss Soojin. Enjoy your schedules. Bye!"

And just like that, Mina watched Soojin enter a room with Manager Lim. It was a small meeting room just near the lobby, and they were probably going to talk about Soojin's schedules as an actress.

Mina could not help herself but feel jealous. She frowned as she always thought how these kinds of thoughts are not good for her. What Soojin has is different than what she has. Even though she joined the company by throwing herself to a man, Soojin would enter any company and land any roles due to her family's influence.

With a sigh, Mina became lost in her thoughts. It would be nice if she already has a manager; that was one of the main perks if you joined a company. And SW entertainment is a big company, why wouldn't she have a manager of her own?

Was it because she was still a rookie?

Then why did Soojin have a manager?

Was it because the company knew about Soojin's family?

Ha, without a doubt, of course.

Life revolves around money, luck, sex, and connections.

Or at least, that was what the entertainment industry is all about.

Talent has no stance against luck. If you don't have any talent, then being lucky can save you. But if you have no luck and only have talent, then there's no way you will get discovered unless you have the remaining three.

That is how life worked, even before modern times.

When she saw the female employee, Nahee, Hong Mina came to her senses, came back to the lobby, and stood properly like how they should during work hours.

Everyone works hard, but not all will be blessed with luck. You just have to create your own through efforts.

As Hong Mina walked past behind people, she finally found the elevator she rode last week. She wanted someone to accompany her to the tiger's den, but she was informed that she had to come to his office alone.

Just the thought of it made her shiver; Mina already got a gist of how that bastard---that guy would be flexing how he made Mina land a lead role with just one call.

Of course, she would not forget how she dreamt of him eating her private part. It was only a dream; she knew it was. But another part of her felt the excitement and the thrill of having his mouth in her.

As she tapped the eighth-floor button, she vigorously shook her head to make her come back to her senses. She was there to work; what kind of thoughts is having there?

It was surprising for her. She did not even know she was this type of person, but if she was, to be honest with herself, Mina was anticipating something else.

Even if she denied it from the bottom of her heart.
