Eight: Jessica

I overslept this morning so thankfully dad drove the twins to school.

I have a meeting at 12 with my professor to discuss the details of the internship. I only have two classes today which starts at 11.

I get to campus at about 11:30, technically I'm not that late but I like being up and running earlier than I have to be.

Modernism and postmodernism  drags, mainly because I'm not interested in this subject one bit and to make it worse I have this class twice!

This lecturers tone is so monotone. Kill me now.

I sneak out 5 minute before the lesson ends.

When I enter Professor Scott's office I see the other 4 the other students who have landed internships as well . I recognize some of them.

He talks about what I have to do as the intern, which includes, projects and attending weekly educational seminars and field trips.

He also mentioned that my projects will also involve research, writing, or helping to create strategy and community engagement for advocacy campaigns. As well as touring museums and other historical places.

As I'm walking to my car, my phone rings and it's Audrey.

"Jess could you pick me, I spoke to Jordan and it was a nightmare" she sighs sadly.

"I'll be there in 15".

It's snowing, which means I have to drive extra cautiously. Traffic always seems to be the absolute worst on days like this.

I get to Audrey and she's jumps into the call, shivering.

"i have a shift at nooks at 2:30, you can get as much hot cocoa as you'd like and you can even finish your homework or whatever you need to while you wait, I finish at 4."

"I don't mind and I also don't feel like talking the disaster that is my personal life but maybe after a cup or two I'd be willing to talk"

"deal" I say as we drive.

We get to nooks and Crannies and let me tell you how packed it is, you'd think that it'll be empty due to the weather but nope.

I swear people are here for the free wifi. Some of them don't even buy anything which sucks.

Audrey sits at a booth at the back while I go and get changed when I say change I mean just putting on an apron.

I make her a huge mug of hot cocoa with a plate of snickerdoodles.

Max isn't in today, Sherri is in full manager mode when his not around.

Max wants to franchise this place. His in New York talking to investors, they want to open 3 more nooks and Crannies which is awosme but finding employees will be a mission .

He has already placed adds online and has tons of interviewing to do. Nooks and crannies will be situated here in Massachusetts, New York, California and Seattle.

Sherri wants to manage the one California since she will be moving there in the new year.

I'm actually thinking about the Seattle nooks as I'm graduating next fall and I've always wanted to stay in Seattle.

I'd really love to go into Art Curating . Working for a well known art gallery .

I'm still deciding. I need to talk to Max about it and my dad of course.

I barely realize how quickly time has gone because how busy with place is.

Audrey comes up to the counter to let me know it's nearly four.

I grab my things and get her another hot chocolate and a Frappuccino for myself.

She asks if we could talk for a bit before we leave.

"I confronted Jordan, I asked him upfront, was it just about the sex  or does he really like me and if so he needs to talk to Adrian about but either way his going to freak out " she begins to rant.

"and do you know what he says? He says Audrey, you know I care about you but this will ruin my friendship with your brother" she becomes red in the face.

"basically he wants to be with me but his worried about Adrian. Like screw Adrian, you asshole, I just wanted a simple answer"

She sighs.

"such a dickhead response, we all know his liked you for a while now, even Adrian knows,Jordan's just being a coward about it, so what are you going to do" I ask.

"I'm just going to stay out of his way and I told him to stay out of mine until he can give me a proper answer" she smirks.

"an altamatom? You really are my sister "

We both start laughing and clink our mugs.

The weather is about to get chaotic and we leave before that happens.
