Flying private always feels like a different new experience from flying local. Especially when it's the only type of flight you've started taking from always being grounded. We fly over my hometown getting there around early morning. The early daylight brings my town to life, waking her up and all its people.
I think to myself,"Damn, I've missed you so much".
"Hey, you can see my house from here, I tell my manager in an excited manner. But he seems disinterested, as he keeps texting on his phone. We finally land and wait for the car to take us to the hotel. I ask my manager, "hey could we make a little pit stop at this pizza place". He reluctantly agrees. We get to the pizza place and I order a mega Hawaiian pizza with extra pineapples.
"I didn't take you for a pizza fan", my manager asks me. "I prefer this cheap pizza over any expensive Hollywood pizza", I tell him.
We head off to the hotel.
We get to the front of the hotel and my manager jumps out of the car. But I stay behind and tell the driver, "drive off now". I guess like me he particularly doesn't like my manager. So he does as I tel him without any hesitation. I tell him to drop me off at a particular house and to meet me back here in 4 hours.
"And what do I tell our friend", he asks me. "Tell him that I had background business to sort out", I reply.
I knock on the door waiting to surprise the person inside. To her surprise she opens the door to see her son all grown up and back home. My mother gives me the biggest hug she's ever given me. I walked into the house and find my Dad sitting by the couch.
He looks at me with surprised eyes and exclaims, "you're alive". I laugh and tell him, "yeah Dad. You cant get rid of me that easily".
"Well then, welcome back home son. Had I known you were coming I would have put on something more decent. But what the heck, give your old man a hug.
I sat on the the side of the couch my Dad usually sits on. My mom comes to join us and we all catch up. So K, since you're here now, you can go see TK, she claims. "Uhm yeah, well I mean I just got here and I need to spend time with you guys before I go out to see the rest of the neighbourhood", I tell her.
My Dad grabs my side, pinching deep into my flesh. "Go and see your friend if you want to sit your ass back in this house again boy", he tells me. I look at my mother for support, but she only tells me, "you better listen to your father K".
"What", I exclaim. "Don't worry, we aren't going anywhere anytime soon. So you know where to find us", she tells me. "Go now son", my dad tells me as he lets go of my side.
I leave the house taking a walk up a few blocks. I look at the address my mom wrote down on a paper, and find TK's new place. I knock on the door, hoping no one's there. But the door opens and its TK who opens it.
"Son of a bitch", TK yells out then, after slamming the door in my face. I can hear yelling behind the door. I could repeat the words, but I'm too shy to repeat those curse words. The door opens again but this time it isn't TK but some random woman.
"Hi. I'm TK's wife Heather. Sorry about my husbands behaviour, please come in", she says. I can hear TK at the back screaming, "you better not let him in here Heather". She yells back, "say that again".
Tk doesn't respond after that.
I walk into the house following behind Heather. I see TK sitting by the dinning room, pulling his face with his arms folded. "Now what are you making that ugly face for", Heather asks him. TK gets up and says, "I'm going to the shops to buy some things". He bumps into my shoulder as he leaves and slams the door behind him.
"Well that went better than expected", Heather exclaims.
I look at her and say, "really. Is that what you call better than expected". "Well be glad that he didn't punch you in the face like he keeps promising to do", she tells me.
"Fair enough. Well nice to meet you Heather", I say that while shaking her hand. "Nice to finally meet you K", she replies. "I've been praying for this exact day", she states.
"That what, TK walks out in a fit of rage", I ask her. "No that you and TK make amends. And that he finally finds some closure", she claims. I look at her with a slightly confused face.
"IF you must know, TK hasn't been the same after Chris died. And after you left, he didn't fare any better", she says.
I remain silent.
"You and I don't have much to talk about now, so go to the shops and check up with TK", she says. "You've been talking to my mom haven't you", I ask her. "We share the same concerns. Now go", she tells me.
I head off to the shops and find TK coming out with a shopping bag. "TK bro, can we just talk", I exclaim.
TK drops the bag, and gives me sucker punch straight into my left eye. I fall to the ground with a loud THUD. TK stands above me and exclaims, I should have done that earlier, and I'm not your bro. You have no right to come back here".
Soon after he walks away leaving me to pick myself up.
