The Pedestrian

You came while I am crossing in the pedestrian lane of love and brokenness. Without any warning, you raced for me over the speed limit and knocked me off the ground. You didn't even mind to control the steering wheel and step on the breaks, you crashed with me like an asteroid that hit my world out of orbit.

I'm the lampost by the street who had no choice but to brace myself for what was about to come. Rooted on the spot. Watching my life flash before my eyes in remaining moments of sanity. We ended up in a love accident; I never wanted this but maybe because of you, I did. Here I am, near-death for accepting you wholeheartedly. And how ironic is it that you only got the slightest casualty when you're the one being reckless between us?

Still, I loved you no matter how thoughtless you handle the steering wheel or how many rules you can possibly break. I fell for you even if your carelessness only brought me pain.

And I think, accident is the best word for this―the sweetest one.
