Chapter 21: That's a lot (Joseph's POV)

I wanted to lay down, I wasn't tired at all, but my mind felt exhausted, and I just wanted to sleep. I knew that I could not though, I needed to get some money from the bank to get some clothes for Julia and Mariah.

Mariah I could get a lot of her clothes from the old place, but I also knew she was still growing a little bit and she needed some new ones. All of Julia's clothes were at her exs house, and I could understand why she probably did not want to go back over there. I was not going to go over there either.

I looked back at the prison, thinking sadly, my father had gone bad, I wish I could believe him. Maybe it was true, maybe he was not the one that killed my mother, but it definitely was not a dragon, maybe it was one of his old friends and he was just trying to take the piss for him.

I wish I could believe him, but I had read books, and in every single one of them right of the bat they would tell you that dragons were just a fictional thing and they did not really exist. Besides, how would dragons be able to hide for so long? At this point someone in this world would have found one and told everyone.

My father had gotten out, he was not fast and he was not in the best shape either. I shook my head, not wanting to think back on it, this was in the past now, I had to think about the present and what was going on around me right now, I thought to myself as I nearly ran into a caddy.

The guy yelled at me and I shook my head as my way of saying sorry as he continued heading off wherever he was going. I knew that the bank was just a block away so there was no point in really getting a cab to go over there. I wanted to think for myself as well.

I continued walking, I saw a guy to the left of me that I had seen several times for so many years begging for money. I had never given him any before, but today I felt like being generous as I gave him a couple of coins.

The guy nodded his thanks to me then he stopped me for a few seconds. He looked right in my eyes and whispered something that I could not hear before he then said something to me.

"Thank you kid... Get luck on your travels, I see a long road ahead of you." He said to me. I nodded at him, then I sat there for a few seconds wondering what he was talking about. This was just some guy on the street maybe he could have seen the look on my face that I was feeling different right now.

I shook my head not wanting to think about it, the guy was smart, but he had lost a leg and he could not work anywhere. I felt bad for him, I wish I had given him some before, I remember one time I saw a couple of guys beating him on the street and taking the little amount of money he had.

I wish I had done something that day, but there was too many of them and only one of me, there was a police guy right beside them laughing at the whole thing as well, it was a terrible day, much like the last few days.

"No problem... I wish you luck." I said to him. He nodded to me but then he looked at me sadly. It confused me a little bit, he did not look upset at me but he looked like he was more upset for me. The guy seemed a bit weird but I listined to what he had to say to me.

"I wish you even more luck... I see fire, lots of fire! Run!" He yelled to me. He then ran at me, I dodged it easily, it was an older slow man and I was also really fast. He fell to the ground and then he got up and randomly just began running away.

I wondered what the guy was talking about, I thought about my father, and it was not the first time I had heard about fire today. There were people on the streets looking at me as if they were blaming me for the guy going crazy. I shook it off and just began to keep walking to the bank.

I wondered if I was ever going to see that guy again, and I wondered what he was going to do with that money that I had given him. I shook it off, it was not even 1/10 of an hour of my paycheck so I did not mind giving him the money, but he did seem to be on the strange side.

Once I saw the bank from not too far away I began jogging over towards it. I tried shaking my minds off of what the guy had just told me. The guy was crazy he probably had no idea what he was even talking about, I thought to myself. I just closed my eyes and stopped myself for a few moments trying to get it out of my head.

Once I was ready to continue walking, I looked up wondering where I was at, all of the sudden I realized where I was at, I was in the woods... I turned to the left and saw my mothers body sitting there. I saw my father sitting there on it crying.

Then I turned over and saw something out of the corner of my eye. I saw a dragon, a purple dragon just like the one my father had told me about, it was nearly twice the size of a human and it had its claws at and it was smiling right at me.

Suddenly it ran at me, and I blinked... Then I was back to where I really was at, I was in the streets of my city, sitting right beside the bank, there was a woman on the bench looking at me a bit confused but she looked scared at the same time.

I shook my head not wanting to think about what I had just seen, I always had dreams like that after someone had told me something scary, it was nothing new to me. I walked into the bank not saying anything to the lady that was just staring at me. I then looked back through the door of the bank and the lady was not there.

I shook my head, I was pretty sure now that I was going crazy. But could you really blame me though? I had had potentially the worst, and the craziest last few days I think that anyone had ever had in their life. Maybe I was, I shook it off, I had to stop thinking, if I didn't think about it then none of it would ever happen.

I looked back at the front desk, there was one lady that was at one of the registers but the other one was open, and I had not heard the guy calling up on me. I realized who it was, it was one of my old friends Chris. I had not seen him or heard about him in a long time.

"Next up please!" Chris said, he clearly did not recognize me, but I could not blame him, my facial complexion had changed a lot in the last few years, he still looked the same. I walked up to him smiling and he looked at me a bit confused wondering what I was so happy about.

"Hey Chris... Didn't know you were working here. How have you been?" I asked him. He looked at me a bit confused and then he looked at me up and down. He then realized who I was and he smiled right back at me.

"Huh? Oh Joseph! It's been a while! How have you been? Ive been doing not too bad, just really bored and no one to really talk to." He said back to me. I nodded at him, me and him used to be close friends. But then I stopped hanging out and talking to my friends after my uncle had died. I wasn't really allowed out much anymore.

"Not too bad... My mother died yesterday... Got in a fight, but I won." I said to him. He looked at me a bit sadly, I could tell he felt bad for me, he never really knew my mother all that well but he did know that I looked up to her and I loved her so much.

"Wow... I'm sorry about that! Both of my parents kicked me out when I turned 20 a few months ago. I'm still looking for a place to live, just living with one of my friends right now." He said to me. I nodded to him, I thanked him for it. I then continued talking to him.

"Yeah... Im sorry about that, there's a good place that you can live, I bought a place there but you can rent there. They are cheap and they take care of you and your place." I told him. He looked at me and then he smiled at me and then nodded.

"Really where would that be? I'm a bit low on funds, I lost a lot of money on a gambling addiction a few years ago, still having to pay that back." He told me. I nodded to him, I could not blame him, he was always good with tricking people and playing games with them. But all it takes is one person even better at that, and you lose everything you have.

"Redwood Acres, its about 2 miles from here down that way. Theres no downpayment." I said to him, pointing at the direction to the place. He nodded to me and then smiled. He then got back on topic continuing with his job as I heard a couple of people walk in behind me.

"Thanks I will go check it out once I get off work in a few hours... Now what are you here for?" He said to me. I nodded to him, I was thankful for Jim, he sent all the money to everyone at the bar to this bank, he had gotten everyone there to put their money in this bank.

You did not gain much money each year for having funds in it, but it was the safest place in the city to put your money into. I looked at the cieling trying to remember what we were talking about and then I looked up at him and told him why I was here.

"Here to get funds from vault C178, just need about 20 coins to go get some clothes and then food from the store." I said to him. He nodded to me and then he slid a paper and a pen over to me smiling at me.

"Alright, just type your account password right here and then I will get someone in the back to go check in for you, I know you wont take anything but this is just what I am forced to do by the bank." He said to me. I nodded to him and then began typing in the password to my account.

"I know... Don't worry..." I said to him, laughing at him. He laughed back at me and it made me feel good to laugh with someone, it had felt like everything had been terrible and all gone wrong for me over the last few days.

He began looking through the papers as everyone always did when they looked at my account and made sure I was putting in the correct password. Once he was in the C section he went through a few more pages and then looked at me really shocked.

"What the... I mean I'm not supposed to say something about it or check through this but, you just got 30 million coins this morning from someone... 2 million last night." He said to me. I looked at him a bit shocked, I knew I was going to get 2 million from my dad but where had I gotten 30 million from? Jim? No way not even he had that much money.

"Are you serious? My dad had apparently killed my mom, I knew I was going to get him money... Where did I get 30 million from?" I said asking him. He checked through the papers and then he went to the back and shouted something to someone who was back there.

The go walked up and looked at me, I noticed him as the owner of the bank, he looked a bit snobby and he was definitely rich, but I knew he was not a bad guy. He looked at me and then nodded seeing that I was confused.

"Joseph... Someone walked in, he had an account at the bank and he asked to have it moved to your account, I did not recognize the guy and had never seen him before." He said to me. I nodded to him, I was still really confused, maybe this was all a big game and a trick, maybe my father was lying and he was a part of the game.

There were so many thoughts that were racing through my head at the moment but I shook it off and then nodded to him. I did not want to ask questions, Im pretty sure someone had done something to my father or tricked him or maybe my father was a part of a group.

I closed my eyes, I knew this was enough for at least 500 lifetimes I just did not think it was real, I closed my eyes wanting to cry trying not to think about what was going on with me. Chris said something to me that got my mind back to what was going on.

"Wow... I can't believe this, that's a lot..."
