Chapter 61

Actually, this policy was decided because even Maya, herself was in a relationship that time... with Lucas. She understood that it was completely unjustified for anyone to decide if she wanted to be with someone or not, and who she wanted to be together with.

And that's why she allowed people to have freedom of their own choice when it came to their personal stuff.

This was also one of the reasons why many talented people could be easily, and unintentionally poached by Supreme Starlight.

"So…?" Maya asked him.

"Um, Yes we were deciding to reject her earlier, but then the plan was scrapped up when Special Assistant Ashley stepped in."

"Ashely?" Maya asked in surprise. She knew that Ashely used to love her job as an ace agent, and at times she still wanted to go back to her old job.

That's Maya had even asked Ashely to cut down her workload so that she could manage some artistes if she wanted to. But Ashely had declined her offer by giving the reason that the new assistant might not be able to cope up with Maya's work and it will not have a good outcome. After that Maya didn't pressure Ashely much. 

She was surprised to know that Ashely had personally backed up this girl. "She must be really good then." Maya thought. 

"When is she coming? She should be here by now, right?" She asked Davis.

"You want to meet up with her in person?! CEO Maya, I do not think that you have to pay this much attention to her." Davis said worriedly.

Although he had not taken any action towards Alyssa, this new artiste, he had already hinted to her regarding somethings.

If she was wise enough, she should back off soon. But if Maya entered the scene, things would not be very simple and become very complicated!

Maya gave Davis a side look and said as she observed Davis's facial expressions, "Manager Davis, I think I had told you something right? I don't need you to tell me what to do." 

By looking at Davis's jumpy reactions, which made her feel as if he was walking on pins and needles, Maya was sure that something was wrong, and that she had to make sure to pay attention to this matter. 

"She will be here anytime soon! Just a minute, I will call her right now." Davis took out his phone to call her number when he realized that he did not have her phone number.

"....."

Maya looked at him with slightly disappointed eyes… Well, she didn't know what to do with Manager Davis.

She passed him the file containing Alyssa's information.

"Huh- Thank you Miss Maya." Davis quickly took the file and called Alyssa. 

As soon as the phone was picked up, Davis was about to yell at Alyssa for being late, but he was interrupted by booming loud voices on the phone. 

["You! Can't you give us some-!" 

 "Stop it! Please! I think it- its my boss!"

 "What's the use when-!"]

Maya winced, very slightly. Even though the voice was different, the tone felt very familiar to what she had been used to hearing from her mother.

Suddenly Davis heard a calm voice which he wasn't expecting to hear, "Hello? Is this call from Supreme Starlight? I am so sorry I will be there within a few minutes!"

She immediately ended the call, even before Manager Davis could say anything. He looked at Maya, she understood what he was conveying and said, "Since she said it, let's wait. Till then, I think I will check some matters regarding the company, please give me all the records from the past six months."

"Okay. They have been kept in the file cabinet next room, I'll bring them." Davis said as he had turned around to bring them when Maya added, "And I would like you to change the security system."

Maya didn't explain much as she started reading  some documents. Manager Davis, also didn't pay much attention to the new 'order' she had told him and went on to bring the records.

As Davis walked out, he saw his secretary sitting out, he asked her to bring the records that Maya wanted.

When she brought them to him, he quickly glanced over them as he thought, "Thank god I have only come to this office recently, even if there are any problems with the records, it won't be implied on me."

While Davis was taking his sweet time with the folders, Alyssa had already reached the office.

*Knock-Knock*

Alyssa knocked the door and was surprised when she heard a female voice from the other side.

Last time she had come here in this office, she had met with a man named Davis. He had also warned her about a few things.

That time she had thought that she would lose this job. Who knew that the next day she would be called and asked to report to work!?

"Yes?" Maya responded to the knocking without raising her head from the documents.

"Um, Hey, it's Alyssa. I am sorry I'm late, something had just cropped up. I assure you that this will not be a regular thing!" 

Maya remembered the things she had heard during the phone call a few moments ago and felt a bit  sympathetic for her, "Hmm, it's okay, but make sure not to make this a habit. Have a seat." 

*Knock-Knock* 

Suddenly the door was knocked again. This time, it was Davis who had come in with the records' folders. "CEO Maya, here, these are all the records from the past six months."

"She is the CEO of the company!?" Alyssa thought as she got a bit uncomfortable, she had been late to her first meeting with the head of the company! 

"Okay thanks, please put them on the table." Maya said and then looked up and saw Alyssa who had been sitting on the sofa with an embarrassed expression on her face. She had her back up straight and her hands were tightly placed besides her.

As if realizing something, Alyssa looked up at the male speaker who had just entered. She looked at Davis, with an alarmed expression, "It's you!"
