The Consequences of Tardiness

"Mr. Cheng!" Secretary Sun greeted, then he glanced through the window of the car and noted, "Oh, waiting for CEO Xia?"

Secretary Cheng sighed, but he decided not to tell Secretary Sun about his Boss's disappearance. It wouldn't be good if others were to know of this matter. The lesser people who knew, the better.

"Yeah, I'm waiting. What about you? Did you just finish an appointment? Why don't I see Old Peng around though?" The seasoned secretary was quick to change the topic and he asked about the other party's company driver instead.

Secretary Sun felt that something was off, but he knew that he shouldn't meddle with other people's business. Besides, he needed to meet with his new Boss today, so he shouldn't waste more time here.

"Old Peng is on leave, but he'll be back soon. I'm off to meet my... someone today." Secretary Sun said, opting not to mention anything about his new Boss for the time being.

"Is that so? Then I shan't hold you up. It's nice meeting you here!" Secretary Cheng was slightly relieved that the other party didn't press on the matter about his Boss.

"See you later!" The two secretaries shook hands before they parted ways.

Little did they knew that their decision to hold back information from one another would be a huge mistake as they stressed over their Bosses' disappearance.

Secretary Sun walked a few hundred meters from the entrance of the hotel, in search of the car with the same description as the valet told him.

After a full minute of walking, he stopped. Not because he found what he was looking for, but because he still hadn't seen even the shadow of Wang Rouxi's car.

'Where is she?! I was only delayed for a few minutes and she suddenly disappeared!'

Secretary Sun could feel the scorching heat seeped through his suit, making his back drenched with sweat. It didn't help that he just came out of the fully air-conditioned building of Haohua.

"Did that valet trick me?" He couldn't help but curse under his breath.

Just then, Li Wei rushed in front of him, catching him off balance. "Mr. Sun! Sir!"

"250!"

Li Wei was surprised upon hearing Secretary Sun's outburst. 'Did he just call me stupid [1]?'

Not only him though, even Secretary Sun was shocked when that profanity escaped his lips. What would happen to his reputable image then?

Fortunately, Li Wei thought that Secretary Sun must have been talking about the time. Such a respectable person couldn't possibly be spouting swear words here and there.

"Yes, Sir. It's 2:50pm now. The Miss must have left since she's been waiting for almost an hour here." Li Wei said, checking the time on his wristwatch.

"What?!" Secretary Sun couldn't believe what he was hearing at this moment, so he asked for confirmation, "She left?"

"It seems so, Sir." Li Wei promptly replied.

Secretary Sun really wanted to pull at his hair right now. That woman didn't think of running away, did she?

If that happened, he didn't know how he would explain it to Master and Madam Wang.

A plethora of emotions flashed on his face as he thought about every possible repercussions of her untimely disappearance.

Seeing this, Li Wei kept mum to give Secretary Sun some time to organize his thoughts. Moreover, he couldn't leave or else this big shot could make him lose his job.

It should be known that Haohua was only one of the hundreds of thousands of businesses named under the Wang Empire Estates.

As the notable secretary to the CEO of the company, it was no wonder that the small employee was afraid to offend this man.

Too preoccupied in thinking where he would start looking for Wang Rouxi, Secretary Sun didn't notice the buzzing sound in his pocket.

"Sir," Li Wei softly called out.

"What?" asked Secretary Sun absentmindedly.

"Your phone."

It was then that the anxious secretary noticed that someone was calling him. Pulling out his phone, he saw the name 'Wang Rouxi' flashing on the screen.

Secretary Sun immediately answered the call. He couldn't help but release the breath he didn't realize he was holding.

"Miss Rouxi, where are you?" Secretary Sun asked lightly.

No matter how much he wanted to strangle her through the phone, of course he could not do that.

Besides, they needed her for a favor so he could only swallow his anger and probe her gently.

"Secretary Sun, I apologize for the short notice. Something came up so I had to go." The voice on the other end of the line was cold and devoid of emotion.

"Where ar–"

Beep, beep~

Hearing the beeping sound signalling the end of the phone call, Secretary Sun gritted his teeth.

'Did this Young Miss not know that if something happens to her, the Wang Empire Estates will be put in a tight position?!'

His Young Master Shen Yun was already bedridden. The injuries he had acquired from THAT incident were so grievous that he had to stay confined in the hospital.

Their last hope was this woman. Taking the CEO position from his Young Master Shenyun, Wang Rouxi might hopefully be able to stabilize the company's situation while they await the recuperation of their Young Master.

Crossing his fingers, Secretary Sun hoped that Miss Rouxi would be fine.

However, the worried secretary probably was not aware that the one thing that his new boss despised the most was tardiness.

Secretary Sun had lost track of time earlier as he was doing the task he had received from the Old Madam to work on.

If it was not for the sudden intrusion of that bellboy, he would not have realized that he was already late for thirty minutes.

He and Wang Rouxi had actually agreed to meet at Hao Hua half an hour ago. From there, they would go to the Wang's Imperial Residence together to meet with the Wang Family.

It was already generous of Wang Rouxi to wait for half an hour, when in fact, this punctual woman could not even wait for someone just for a minute.

She had her own principles.

One second late could get you killed.

So when Xia Jiannan asked to be sent home, Wang Rouxi immediately left, no longer having the patience to wait for Secretary Sun.

Note:

[1] Calling someone “250” basically means they are stupid, useless, good for nothing, etc.
