Offer Me A Seat

Growing up without feeling the warmth of love from her parents, Wang Rouxi was akin to an infant discovering new things for the first time.

She wanted to relish every bit of this parental affection that she had missed out on for the last twenty-five years.

Although there was Elder Xin who took care of her until she was five years old, the motherly affection from one's real mother couldn't be compared with.

Wang Rouxi observed the petite woman in front of her with an undetectable longing in her eyes, her lips unknowingly tugged upwards in a heartfelt smile.

So this was her birth mother, alright!

All these years, every time the calendar turned a new leaf over, she couldn't help but wonder when she would be able to meet her family. Or rather, would she be able to meet them in this lifetime?

The constant struggle of life and death diminished her desire to reunite with her family. Not knowing whether she'd live through each mission thrown her way, it was better not to keep her hopes up.

Now, this chance has come. She was finally able to meet them!

Wang Rouxi etched every detail of Shi Linlang's heart-shaped face into memory and branded it with the label 'mother'.

A mother who she hadn't met since the day she was born.

On some nights, as everyone was in deep slumber trying to rest their aching bodies from all the tiresome activities they did in the day, Wang Rouxi laid in bed wondering why her own flesh and blood did not know about her existence.

Why did they leave her to suffer all those hardships and killings that were not meant for children at her age that time?

If it were not for her unrelenting trust on Elder Xin, Wang Rouxi wouldn't even believe that she was the legitimate Wang heiress.

Looking at Shi Linlang who bore 60-70% resemblance to her, even without knowing the truth, it would be hard to ignore the uncanny similarities.

Not to mention, Wang Rouxi looked a lot like her younger siblings, Shenyun and Xinji.

Wang Rouxi did a background check on every member of the Wang Family. From the Main Branch down to the Lowest Branch, she got a hold of every information there was about each and every one of them.

From the intelligence that she had gathered, Wang Rouxi was able to connect the dots and confirm what Elder Xin had told her.

Even the closely guarded family secrets of the Wang Family were dug out by Wang Rouxi.

To say that her intelligence gathering prowess was top-notch and the best of the best would not be an overstatement. Hacking through the fully secured Headquarters' main server on a whim proved her ability.

Although the news about the Madam of the Wang Family giving birth to a stillborn baby was locked down and only a few people knew about it, with Wang Rouxi's excellence in intelligence gathering, she was able to unearth it.

In addition to that, Wang Rouxi had discovered something that even the Master and Madam Wang did not know about.

Shi Linlang's "dead" child was not actually a boy but a girl!

And that child was her, Wang Rouxi!

An icy coldness flashed in her eyes as she remembered the details of that report.

Someone was definitely working behind the scenes.

However, even with her great intel, she was not able to acquire any information about who was behind it.

All she could tell was that there was someone who had switched her and that dead child to make it look like it was only Shenyun who was born that day...

It was hard for her not to suspect that something was wrong. After all, her return to take over the company coincided with the incident involving her twin brother.

But there was no point in thinking about these things for the time being, she had an even more pressing matter than that at this moment.

Wang Rouxi pried her hand away from Shi Linlang's grip and took a step back.

"Mrs. Wang," her formal tone made Shi Linlang flinch. "No need."

There was no need for Shi Linlang to check on Wang Huozhen as Wang Rouxi wanted to see for herself what this so-called father of hers had in store for her.

There was no need for Shi Linlang to care, Wang Rouxi didn't have anything to do with this family after all.

All this while, in every ups and downs of her life, she was able to live on without them. Nothing would change even if she wouldn't acknowledge this family.

Wang Rouxi's cold eyes took in Shi Linlang's shivering form, but she didn't comment on it.

Turning to her new secretary who stood by the side, she nodded at him to lead the way, "Secretary Sun."

"Yes, Miss Rouxi. Please follow me."

Secretary Sun bowed at Shi Linlang, who was petrified upon hearing how he had addressed Wang Rouxi, before he took the lead towards the Master's study.

Bewildered, Shi Linlang slumped on the couch and held her head in her hands as countless thoughts ran through her mind.

That lady was not Xinji?

Not Xinji...

Not Xinji...

What did Yiqi call her?

Rouxi?

Isn't it that...?

As if realizing something, she leapt up on her feet and dashed upstairs to prevent her husband from laying a heavy hand on Miss Rouxi.

She crossed her fingers, praying silently that Wang Huozhen hadn't done anything unimaginable yet.

'I hope I'm not too late!'

...

Secretary Sun stopped in front of the mahogany door and turned to Wang Rouxi for further instructions.

"Knock."

Nodding his head, Secretary Sun was just about to knock on the door when he heard a gruff voice coming from the inside, "Enter."

Wang Rouxi didn't wait for Secretary Sun, opening the door of the study herself. She gave him a sidelong glance and ordered, "Stay here."

Secretary Sun paused, slightly unsure, but nodded his head in understanding.

"I understand, Miss Rouxi."

Wang Rouxi strode confidently inside the study, her gait exuded a sense of nobility that couldn't be hidden from deep within.

"I heard that Master Wang has waited for my arrival?" She regarded him with a cold smile.

Wang Huozhen looked at her with an austere expression, extremely unhappy with the way she was behaving, lofty and proud.

Wang Rouxi didn't turn her gaze away, in fact, she stared straight into his eyes. The stinging pain in her cheeks reminded her of how cold-blooded this man was.

"Shouldn't you be offering me a seat?"
