•The Start•

Since this is my story let's start from the beginning of how it all went down. I woke up, went to school, Met my best friend, went home, ate, and slept. Things were continuous in our small little town, there's wasn't anything proper or anything taken care of appropriately. For awhile now there has been news of disappearances everywhere all over our town and state, but everyone knows these aren't just disappearances, they were killings. No matter the age or pattern there was just lots of random people disappearing, with no evidence to back anything up. We were just left with a giant question mark on everything. No leads, no evidence. People just went missing and there wasn't even any bodies to be found.. or so I thought.

The day started off normally, 6am with mom already gone to work knowing she'll get back later dead tired. I got up and got dressed, went downstairs and left the house. Walking to school I could feel a pair of eyes on my back, I was almost at the school when I was feeling anxious. Should I start running? I didn't know what to do then a scream! My best friend Chelsea, she jumped out of the bushes right by the front of the school and it scared me I thought I could die. I punched her in her arm at that time, I wish it was as simple as a scare. She laughed at me as we walked in and went to our class, getting seated and changing classes about every hour or so. Lunch then some more before heading home, me and Chelsea usually walked home together but never to school together. She was always busy in the mornings but she was still one of my close by neighbors.

We lived on a dead end of a road with some small houses lined up on one side while a giant cornfield laid before us. Chelsea lived with her mother, because both of our fathers were gone we had something in common and became friends quite quickly. She had a twin brother named Eric who I had a crush on but it didn't matter because he left for military training as soon as he got outta high school and had stayed away for a year. Yet we were only seniors in high school at this time. Chelsea lived two houses down from me, the house next to me hadn't ever been used. It wasn't up for sale but no one really used it and no one really went around with it.

This day wasn't anything special, just normal until we were walking home and Chelsea had looked at me with a mischievous smile. "Hey Lilly! Let's go out into the cornfield tonight. I heard there's this large cool barn out there somewhere." Of course I didn't wanna go at first. But I couldn't deny it when she said, "my brother just got back from military training.. he's gonna go with us tonight, it'll be fun!" At that moment, I stopped. Her being behind me, I could feel the grin on her face now that I think back to that moment. I had the biggest crush on Eric and I couldn't say no to seeing him again after a long year away from him. I looked back and she was just smiling normally with her eyebrow arched.

Maybe I was wrong about her face but I agreed to go and went to my house and Chelsea went to hers. I did my homework and got a shower, I got ready! I didn't wanna look bad in front of him. Just as I was ready about to leave, my mother burst into the door dead tired. She collapsed into my arms, from working all day and another long shift tomorrow I laid her down on our couch and covered her with a blanket. I tried to make her as comfortable as possible, I kissed her head and thanked her before leaving her and going outside to find Chelsea alone.
