•The Runaways•

I don't know how long we ran but as we did it felt as if time had slowed down, everything stopped. We ran past many black doors that had bars in the middle of them like my own room. We didn't waste time, just went as silently and quickly as possible. Maria slows me down as we came to an opening inside the long hall, a giant room which had an opening to the hallway we were in. There was this main opening and two side openings, Maria gave me a look that I shared right back. We both were screwed this time, someone would have seen us and we'd have to run for our lives but she had a plan.

I had to lay on the ground in the blood of my own and others, my broken ankle and the cuts already on me burned with a sensation. It hurt a lot but she helped me lay down, she gave me one command, "Act Dead.." that was it. I did my best to pretend before she got a crazy look in her eyes again. She grabbed me by my feet and started dragging my body through the corridor. There was a few guards there, they were stronger and faster then us both so we knew we couldn't get away without a little deception.

I held my breath as she dragged me across the opening, they looked at us with masks on. I couldn't read them at all as she dragged me, when we got past the opening she quickly helped me up as we continued. We ran a little more before the guards figured out we were lying and came after us. We made it to the door when they finally started coming for us, I leaned on the wall while Maria got the heavy door open for us then she picked me up again. We closed the door behind us and started running for our lives. Both of us were crying to see the bright sun out again, drenched in blood we ran until we got till a field of corn again. The guards couldn't leave the premise without permission so we limped you into the cornfields.

It was large and got dark even thicker then we thought it would, we wandered around for hours before I started feeling faint. If I passed out I knew I might not wake back up but the bleeding wasn't good. I ripped my shirt and Maria's to wrap the wounds as we wandered around through the large weeds. We couldn't see a thing with the way the cornfield was planted. That's when I seen it, that old barn..

We wandered around for so long we were both tired and weak but when I seen that barn my eyes opened wide for the first time for what felt like awhile. "There! Maria. Take me there!" I couldn't say much but we got there before Maria set me down. The pain was so much but I don't think I ever cried, maybe I was still so scared that those guards or anyone worse might come for us both. Maria set me down before I started passing up, she grabbed me and shook me. She yelled at me as I smiled telling me to stay awake, she didn't know where she was and needed me but I was so weak. I couldn't take it anymore, I smiled and went as I heard the barn doors open. Men had come in for us but I passed out before I could figure out what happened next.
