I go down the steep staircase that leads to the ancestor's wall. Falling over the stairs many times. The last time I was down here was when I was six, and my great-grandfather died.
The ancestor wall is only for anyone older than the fourth generation. If you are the fourth generation and above, you get buried.
Moving my hand down the wall alongside me, I decrease my speed, so I don't fall. Getting down is the hardest part. When the old elves made the stairs, they made it to fit their height, not the height the elves have now.
I wouldn't say we some much as evolved; We just changed. Our height shortened over the generations. Along with our hair, eyes, and skin color. My father is one of the rare elves -along with me- that have a darker skin tone.
Finally, getting down the long staircase, I stop in my tracks, Starring at what is ahead of me.
"Oh, my elven gods.."
On the castle roof.....
"You should've listened to me, Lilac." After learning what happened to Lilac, I laughed at how reckless she is and went up to the roof. The roof is where I go when I need an escape.
Zion is acting weird, and I can't hang out with Lilac. The king as yet to dismiss me, so, I am stuck at the castle until he does.
What is left to do? Sit on the roof until the king gets out of his meeting. I don't see why he didn't dismiss me before, but he didn't.
Losing my pendant a few weeks ago, my mom won't get off my back. Knowing it is unique, I have to find it before someone else does. I should be looking for it right now, but losing it at the Iris creek, I would have to travel considerably far just to look for it, and it not be there.
So far, the roof is my best alternative to searching for the pendant.
Why that is happening.,
Getting into a kingdom should be hard, right? It is not. Sneaking in is easy. The guards are lethargic and don't even ask for traveling paperwork. Walking right by the guards, I make my way to the inner villages.
Walking through the Biar villages, I see Moon Valley Pilea, waffle plants, and pencil flowers. There are many more flowers that I don't recognize but, they are stunning.
Scanning around for the local inn, I start to notice the glances I am getting from the citizens of the village. Looking nothing like them with my snow-white skin, blue eyes, and blonde hair, I can see why. You can tell I am from the West.
Anyway....
"Oh, my elven gods.."
Running to the wall, tripping over the small dents in the ground, I pretty much just stumble to the far side. Bring my hand up to the wall; My hand starts to shake.
There's a crack. A crack in the wall. Death is coming. It is finally coming true.
My whole life, I have always been told that when there is a crack in the ancestor's wall, I run. I need to run as fast as I can and hide. No matter where I hide.
I bring a strip of my hair into my fingers. The crack makes no sense. Not one region is at war. Getting myself to calm down, I think about what to do next. Mumbling to myself, "If I tell my father he won't do anything. He will be too preoccupied with drinking to do anything. So, I will tell Zion."
Making my way out of the secret chamber, I shut it behind me. Going to my door, I gently open the door; The guards are standing there sleeping, propped up by their spears.
Laughing at the audacity of our guards, I close the door behind me and walk away, my bare feet not making one once of noise. Turning around to make sure they didn't wake up, I start running to Zion's room.
Afterward....
"Lilac. Are you sure? You could have imagined it!" Trying to get Lilac to listen to me before she goes making accusations, her headstrong personality won't.
"I am sure, Zion! The crack was on the wall, and it was at Iris creek!"
"At Iris creek?" Lilac nods, frowning. "What is it?" Shaking my head, I dismiss her.
"It's nothing.." Glancing over at the drawer, I bring my gaze back to lilac before she has time to get suspicious. "I don't know, Lilac... You need to tell someone else." She shakes her head in a stubborn motion.
"I thought you could help." Lilac sighs and walk's out of my room. Starring after her, I collapse on my bed.
"That went well."
Mystery guy got to the Inn...
I set my bag down as I walk into my room, pulling out my assignment papers.
Jaylin Fylanin: New recruit
Age: 15
Mission: Find out sensitive information on the princess and her family.
I don't know why I am here. The reason why my Dynasty needs information on the princess and her family is unknown to me.
Maybe the papers I stole will help me with that. Before I left, I copied down some of my commander's papers. The papers had a big CONFIDENTIAL on them so, I figured they might have more info on my mission.
Laying down on the bed, I take the papers from my bag and take a long look at them. They have nothing to do with my mission. I think I just found out why my king has been so annoyed.
The next day...
Being up all night takes a toll on you. My eyes are bloodshot, the big bags under my eyes won't go away -even with all the makeup, my maid put on me- and my eyes are droopy.
All of the drowsiness is worth it; I have decided to tell my father about the crack. Being the responsible person I am, I have to.
That morning, I fling the council conference doors open, walk-in, and slam my hands down on the table and stare straight at my father. Getting to the point straight away.
"There's a crack in the ancients wall."
My father's face is flushed red from being drunk.
He stands up pointing a finger at me, glaring.
