Chapter 6

' Dada the aunty is yellow. She has a big bombom ' The last part had caught his attention. Rotimi was just six, when had he started describing women by their assets?

' ok son. You will show me who she is. I promise to talk to her ' Dieko said. His son had come back home two days ago with a swollen eye. He had been angry to see his son's eye swollen and red. His son had then explained that it was the new aunty in his class. She had put her hand in his eyes when he had caught her staring at her  ' long claws ' as Rotimi had put it.

He had decided to go to the school to complain to the headteacher and question why they will assign some long-fingernailed woman to a child's class. He also wanted to meet the woman that had caused his son to cry in the hospital the day before yesterday.

As he drove into the parking lot he felt his son's small fingers tug his shirt from behind

' That's her. She's the one ' Rotimi screamed as he pointed in the direction of a woman who was none other than his current lover, Lewa.

All the fight in him was gone in an instant. He did not know how he was going to confront her. He had still been thinking of a way to introduce them but he had never phantom that they had already met.

Lewa had told him last week that she had started working in a school because she loved children and wanted to be around them. He had respected her decision and was happy that she did love children. At the time he had thought it was a good thing as it would be easy for her to accept his son and she will not object to having children for him.

' Dada ' his son's voice brought him back to the present. Without knowing it he had put his car back in reverse.

' Are you not going to meet the aunty? '

' Rotimi another day, ok? Daddy is already late for work '

' Do I get to follow you to work then? '

Rotimi thought about it, it wasn't a bad idea, besides he couldn't let Rotimi go back to school without addressing the issue, Lewa or not.

....

Lewa yawned as she arranged the children's books into their file for them to take home. She hated children and she was only doing this because she wanted to impress Dieko. She had lied when she had told him she had started working in a school but on seeing his reaction she had decided to make it a reality. That wasn't hard though. She had a history with the headmaster and a video that could tarnish his image. All she had to do was call him and ask him for a job where he worked and she had landed herself one.

She didn't plan to work here long, just long enough to convince Dieko that she indeed loved children and would not mind taking care of his son. She planned to make friends with some of the children, take a few pictures of herself with them to show Dieko how good she was with children.

Unfortunately, things had not gone exactly as planned. The children were hostile to her and it was difficult faking a smile around them every time. Most of the children were also very spoilt and one couldn't blame them as they all came from influential homes.

There was one child in particular that had annoyed her no end. His name was Rotimi and he looked oddly familiar. He had kept on staring at her which she found very rude and although he was a child he had an arrogant and intimidating presence. She had even found herself being cautious around him. She had asked him with a fake smile plastered on her face if there was something interesting about her that he kept staring at her to which he had replied yes. She had then asked him what it was instead of replying him he had asked her a question.

' Why is your bombom big? ' She had been taken aback by the question. It was not what she had expected him to say.

' Is that why you've been staring at me? ' She had asked him when she had found her voice.

' Yes,' he had replied without hesitation. She had forced a smile and very playfully attempted to flick his forehead, unfortunately, her just-fixed nails had entered his eyes. She had panicked at first but her mind had been put to ease when she noticed there was no swell and no blood and his eyes had only been watery. She had told him sorry repeatedly but he had refused her consolation and told her to leave him alone.

That was two days and she was yet to see the boy back in class. She sincerely hoped nothing had happened to the boy. She didn't want to face a millionaire's wife's anger for touching her son.

...

Dieko glanced at his son as he sat in his office. Today was not a busy day but his mind was preoccupied. As he looked at his son who was licking chocolate from his fingers he remembered he had wanted to get a DNA test just to be sure. He thought of a way to get a sample that could be examined without his wife's knowledge.

An idea crossed his mind which he put into action immediately. Grabbing a nail cutter from his desk drawer he made his way to where Rotimi was seated. He squatted in front of his son and placed his small fingers in his large palm.

' What did you do to your school aunty that made her put her fingers in your eye? ' Dieko asked as he used the nail cutter to cut his son's left thumbnail.

' I didn't do anything. I swear ' his son said shrugging.

' Haven't they taught you not to swear in Sunday school? ' he looked at his son's brown eyes which had a glimpse of mischievousness in them. He was convinced Rotimi had done something to warrant it.

' What happened before she did it? ' he probed his son

' I asked her why her bombom was big ' Rotimi said in a small voice.

' What!?'
