The Contract ~ Spectre

I stormed out of the tavern, furious that he would ever dare to go such lenghts to achieve what he wanted. That blasted demon. As I walked along the coast of Worthwood, the sun started setting.

Odd, I thought. The sun isn't supposed to set for another two hours. Whatever. Whatever Raziel is up to is not my problem. Unless it includes me. Then it becomes my problem.

As I was almost to the mouth of the river Geneva, where I cast a spell to create a portal. I waited a few minutes for the spell to take effect, and soon the black, swirling portal opened. I made sure nobody was following me, and then I stepped through. The portal closed behind me, and I was faced with the darkness of the Void.

I walked through for a while, and finally came to the other side of the portal. I stepped out into the dark realm of the demons, the Island Mizeareigh. As I walked through the land, heading for the Leader's quarters, I was stopped by a demon.

"Who do you think you are, waltzing in through a portal, and expecting us not to investigate?" He said.

I turned around to see Zachriel, Leviathan's brother, standing there. He was wearing a faded gold breastplate, and a sword was hanging in his belt.

"Oh it's just you." I said. "I thought for a moment that it was someone I had to kill to get through."

"How about you show me some respect? One touch of my gauntlets and you burn."

"Ha! You really think I'm still weak to gold? That faded long ago. If there's anything now, It's bronze." I replied.

Zachriel scowled. "What's your business here Spectre?" He asked me, in an annoyed tone.

"I need to have a word with your father."

"He's not here at the moment, but do you want me to leave him a message?"

I looked at him with a deadly expression. "Do not test me Zachriel, I can sense his presence perfectly. So don't think for one second that you're actually capable of lying to me."

He sighed. "I guess there's nothing I can do to stop you, is there?"

"Nope."

"Very well. Go on then, talk to him. But don't say I didn't warn you." He said.

I walked past him, and into the living quarters, where I scanned the place for an office or a work room of sorts.

Soon enough, I found one, but it was locked from the inside, and very well protected against a variety of unlocking spells. I had no other resort but to call him out.

"ARGOTAURIUS LESAUVAGE, I NEED TO HAVE A WORD WITH YOU!" I shouted at the door, knowing he was inside, and that he most definitely heard me. The fury in my chest was boiling, how could he do this to his own son?

"OPEN THE DOOR LESAUVAGE!" I shouted again.

A few moments later, he finally unlocked the door.

"Oh. It's you." He said. "I'll have you know that I thought this would take you longer to figure out than this."

I walked into the room. It was dark, and the only illumination was a few torches along the walls.

"So, I'm guessing you're here about Leviathan?"

"Damn right I am!" I said. "Not only do you invade his thoughts, force him into taking a role that he obviously doesn't want, but then you hide the memories of the girl he loves and cares about? Oh and the message in the wall was a bit much." I told him, the anger and hate in the speech very visible.

"Oh come on. I don't have much of a choice, do I?"

"Yes you do. Your other son, Zachriel."

"Zachriel is young and inexperienced. He doesn't have what it takes to lead." He explained.

"Then train him. I don't care what you do, just give Leviathan his memories back."

"I suppose we could make a deal."

"What kind of deal?"

"You get Leviathan's memories, in exchange for something else."

"Like what?"

After I agreed to the exchange, Argotaurius gave me a bottle.

"In this bottle are Leviathan's memories. Give them to him, and see for yourself how it works." He said.

I walked out, and created a portal in the courtyard. As I went through, I started doubting that I'd made the right choice in the bargain, but I shook it off, entering Worthwood coastline again. The portal closed behind me, and I started walking back to the tavern. The sun was up again, and the day was bright. When I got back to the White Helm, I was greeted by an extremely worried Lyka.

"Where were you?" She asked me.

"Taking care of Leviathan's memory problem." I replied.

"For three days?"

"Oh. Of course. Time difference. I had to enter another realm, and the time there went by only a few hours." I said.

"Well, next time tell us that you're leaving Araycien." She said.

"Don't worry, I will." I handed her the bottle. "Give this remedy to Leviathan, then put him to sleep with a spell. When he wakes up, he'll have his memories returned to him."

Lykfilia nodded, and sprinted up the stairs. I took out a bottle of whiskey from behind the counter, and said to Reyna and Sirius, "If you need me, I'll be in my room." Then I went up the stairs, into my room and locked the door.
