The Angels Lie ~ Leviathan

After Spectre stormed out, we both heard the front door slam shut, indicating that she'd left the building. I looked apologetically at Lykfilia, who was staring at me with a disappointed look.

"Leviathan....what did you do? Because I remember Spectre, and she would never act like this." She asked me carefully, a bit hesitant, but curious about the answer.

"Really? Oh well, I guess it wouldn't hurt to tell you what happened. But not right now, I need to calm down first, before I set shit on fire. Also, don't we have some catching up to do?" I replied.

"Alright. But why did she react like that?" She asked quietly.

"It's related to Lucifer, her friend from one thousand and five hundred years back. I don't know the details, so if you really want to know the story you gotta ask her." I knew she wasn't just gonna drop the subject, so I told her to ask Spectre herself when she comes back.

"Levi...it's not your fault she reacted this way. " Lyka started.

"It is! If I would've just....if I had just been a little smarter, I could've recognized them! And then, I would never have done what I did, and I deeply regret it."

Sirius knocked on the door.

"Uhm, maybe you should follow her through the portal she made." He said.

"She made a portal? Did you see where it leads?" I asked him, genuinely concerned about her.

"I think I saw a cliffside? Or seaside. There was an ocean at least." Sirius replied, as we walked down to the main room of the tavern.

"Oh no...."

"Leviathan, is that bad? Where is she?" Lykfilia asked me.

"She's gone to the place where everything went wrong. The place where she turned against her people and became one of the fallen. The cliffside on the west side of Araycien, the one that doesn't face Mizeareigh." I explained. Lyka looked rather confused, and a tad bit worried. "I need to go, and I need to go now. Before- before something bad happens; if it hasn't already."

I turned around, fastening my swords on my back, walking towards the front door.

"Leviathan, wait!" Lyka half-shouted, making me turn around.

She walked to me. I looked at her for a while, before finally opening my mouth to say something, but I couldn't quite remember what it was. She gently put her hands on my shoulders, staring me in the eyes with her signature caring look.

"Just...come back alive, okay? For me. Please." She said.

"I'll try."

And with that, I left them behind, stepping through the portal that was open in front of us.

When I arrived at the scene, I realized that I had been a few seconds late, and only caught a glimpse of Spectre before she fell off the edge. I ran to the edge and jumped off without a second thought, releasing my dark, shadowy wings. I constantly caught up speed, as I tried to catch up with the angel. Hoping I wasn't too late, I willed myself to go faster. She landed in the ocean, sinking faster than should be possible. I retracted my wings and dove into the water, swimming after Spectre.

I caught on to her arm, pulling her and myself out of the water by forcing my wings out again. I got myself a better grip on her, flying back up the cliff, up to the portal back to the tavern. As soon as I exited the portal on the other side, the portal closed behind us. I kicked the front door open, carrying the unconscious angel up to her room. I after nearly tripping over a wiretrap in her room, I carefully placed her on the bed in the corner, hoping she'd wake up.

After a while, she started muttering things.

"....Cortana...why....."

"Who's Cortana? I asked out loud.

"She's...the....one....who.....killed........Lucifer..."

"Oh. I should have known." I said, again, out loud.

Spectre's eyes suddenly shot open, she grabbed my wrist forcefully and said these three words. The three words that were the start of a war.

"The angels lie."

And then, she blacked out again.
