It's been two days since Leviathan brought Spectre back, unconscious and muttering nonsense. We need her back if we're gonna do something about the oncoming war, or Araycien will split once more.
Leviathan is trying his very best to learn to cook decent food with Lykfilia's instructions, but it's uhm, not going well. Since he's a demon and part vampire, he doesn't really have to eat that much, just stay hydrated, so he doesn't know how to make decent food. But he's trying.
I sighed. She's so lucky to have him, this kind of relationship is so rare. It's unique, with the fact that she's a fairy and he's a demon, but it's clearly love.
__________
A day later, Leviathan came running down the stairs, shouting.
"Lykfilia! Where are you?!"
"In the kitchen, why?!" She replied to him, in her ever sweet voice.
"Spectre's awake and she wants to talk to you!" He shouted back.
"What?!" All of us were surprised. Spectre hadn't exactly been the nicest to Lyka since we came, and seemed eager to throw us out of the tavern as soon as possible. Lykfilia went up the stairs, quietly and hesitantly. Leviathan followed, as if to make sure she'd return in one piece.
After a few minutes, Lykfilia returned downstairs to the main room, with the biggest smile imaginable on her face, and her eyes were almost glowing with pure happiness.
I looked at Sirius, who had the sams confused look on his face as I probably did. I didn't dare to ask Lykfilia, as Spectre returned downstairs with a list in her hands.
"Boys? Could you do me a favor and collect the items on this list, they're essential for the cooking and brewing of this tavern." She asked them.
I stared at her in disbelief, What happened to her? She wasn't usually this nice.
The boys nodded carefully, and Leviathan took the list from her.
After the boys left, Spectre's expression turned grim again, and she told us she'd be in the kitchen if she was needed.
Lyka spoke up.
"Reyna, there's something I've been meaning to ask you."
"Yeah? Fire away." I replied.
"Is there anything you belive in? Like, a certain religion or something?" She asked me.
"No, not really. I mean, most of us aren't believers anymore, but the ones that are, worship certain, or all heavenlies. How they do it, and what the heavenlies look like to them depends on the person." I explained to her. Her expression changed to a more calm one, like she was suddenly more interested in human culture.
"No worries. Some people, cultists, worship the demons, and they usually worship the leader and his soldiers. There's either the Mizeareighean demons, or the Void demons. The Void demons are usually just monsters without a soul, but their appearance varies between types.
The Mizeareighean however, maintain a human-like appearance, but with slight differences like wings, fangs, horns, slit-pupil eyes and such." It felt weird explaining demonology to a fairy, but I managed to get the main facts right.
"Reyna, I hope you don't mind me asking, but what did your family believe in?" She asked me cautiously, as if she didn't want to cross a line.
"Oh I don't mind at all, it's nice to have someone to talk to. My family is mainly non-believers, but my ancestors were greatly attached to certain heavenlies." I paused, trying to remember who they were. "They were mostly on about Cortana; goddess of the Ocean, Trophonia; Angel of Lost Souls-"
I heard something break in the kitchen.
"Spectre are you all right?" Lyka asked.
"I'm fine, I just dropped a few plates, nothing that I can't fix." Spectre replied.
"Anyways, where was I? Oh yeah, and of course Athuriel; Angel of War, Ygraine, the moon controller and Athuriel's mother, and the leader of all things heavenly, Raziel, the sun controller."
"Wow. That's a lot of things you remember Reyna. Those are some interesting beliefs though." Lykfilia said to me, mesmerised by the information and the knowledge behind what I had just told her.
I started speaking again.
"There's a myth that, out of rage, Trophonia killed an angel, and was imprisoned, and eventually brought to trial. The angel she killed was her best friend's lover, but he was never avenged. But Trophonia never forgot what she did, so whether she still seeks revenge or redemption, no one knows." I said once more, because once you get me talking about something I know, I'm not likely to stop.
"You sure know a lot about myths and religion Reyna." Lykfilia complimented.
I smiled at her.
"It was the subject I studied at school. I personally think Trophonia seeks redemption for what she did, but her friend wants revenge for her lover." Reyna said.
"Wow" Lyka said.
"But there's no solid proof for any of this, is there Videns?" Spectre asked me, her tone dark and cold.
"No, but it could always be true, even if it hasn't been proven." I replied, confident about the subject.
"I guess so." Spectre replied in her usual monotone voice.
The front door of the tavern opened, and the boys, Levi and Sirius came in.
"We found most of the things on the list, but not all of them." Leviathan told Spectre, the accent as smooth as ever.
"That's alright. I'll just see what I can do." Spectre left for the kitchen.
"So, what were you girls talking about?" Leviathan asked us, winking at Lyka afterwards.
"Religion." I answered for us.
"Cool. I've never quite understood cultists. Worship is one thing, but worshipping monsters? That's just weird." He said.
"Hey Leviathan, care to show me some of those moves you were talking about earlier?"
"Sure thing, it's nice to have someone beatable to train with for once." Leviathan said happily, adding a small laugh at the end.
"What's that supposed to mean?!?" Sirius asked, partially offended by his words.
"Relax Arden, I'm just used to training alone or against Spectre, and she's hard to beat." Leviathan replied, walking towards the back door that lead to the training grounds. He stopped half way, turning around to face us again. "Oh and Lyka?"
"Yes Leviathan?" She replied.
"I'd love to teach you the basics of hand-to-hand fighting sometime."
"That sounds great, yeah." She said.
The guys left, and Lyka turned back to me, only to notice me staring after them.
"You like him, don't you?" She said, her voice teasing.
"Leviathan? I'd never. He's not really my type. Too.....weird." I replied, internally panicking.
Lykfilia laughed.
"Not Leviathan silly. I meant Sirius. It's obvious. You come from the same city, right? I can see it in your eyes, just like I can see it in his."
"Okay, maybe I like him a little bit..." I admitted, still panicking a little on the inside.
Spectre came out of the kitchen corner, and put three plates of steaming food on the counter.
I reached into my backpack and took out a map, and carefully started studying different places, and wrote down locations and directions.
I felt someone lean over my shoulder, but I didn't turn around.
"So Reyna, where are we headed? 'Cause I can just portal us there, much easier than having to walk everywhere. " Spectre asked.
"Wait, I thought you said you didn't want anything to do with the trio anymore?" I asked her, confused by this sudden change.
"I was reminded of what I am fighting for by a friend. So I'll ask again, where are we headed?"
