I woke up in complete darkness. I couldn't see my own hands, not even with my left eye, the one that still has the remnants of my angelic vision. I stood up, slowly and carefully to find my way to a wall or something to guide me out of the dark.
Oh no. The soul trade can't have worked if I'm still awake.
My thoughts forced their way through my head, filling it up with thousands of old memories, thoughts, ones I'd rather forget than remember. A million faces flashed before my eyes, a thousand voices speaking, crying, shouting at the same time. It was overwhelming. I fell down on my knees, feeling like my head might explode any second.
Then, when I thought it was all over, it stopped. That's when I heard the voice.
It was a cold, emotionless voice, and it chilled me to the bone.
It sounded so similar to myself, only darker and colder.
"Ut tandenem venita ad med angelus fecite tibi?"
Who even speaks Mithrain anymore?
"So, what did you need from me?" the voice asked.
I perked up, trying to find where the voice was coming from.
"I didn't come here of my own will. Where am I anyways?!"
The voice chuckled softly.
"Welcome to my prison, otherwise known as your mind."
"Who are you?!" I called out, not knowing which direction to face.
Slowly but surely, I noticed a cloud of dark vapor take form in front of me.
Once the form had been completed, I flinched and stepped backwards.
It was like looking in a mirror, except the reflection-
"Why, I am you!" The now formed person replied.
"W-what do you mean?" Stuttering? Get your shit together and face your inner conciousness like a soldier Spectre!
"Oh right. You weren't taught how to keep me out, were you? No, I was sealed away in your mind by your mother right before she died. Well, a part of me anyways."
"Who are you!" I asked again, this time with a hint of authority in my voice.
The voice started laughing.
"Well, you see, I am you. A darker, better, more powerful you. I am the demon of the moon, Ygraine Tergeo."
I backed away slowly, shaking my head in disbelief.
"Y-you can't be! Ygraine died, and she died because of you!"
"But Trophonia, Ygraine managed to really bring a change to the land beforehand, didn't she?"
I didn't reply. The so-called moon demon was right, Ygraine really changed the way Raziel ruled the City and all things holy. Oh the things we do in the memory of the people we care about. People either change for good, or take a dark turn of mind. Sadly it was the latter for me, and there isn't a day that passes where I don't regret my actions a thousand years ago.
Yet here we are, and nothing would have changed, would I have kept my line as an angel of the Lord. I would have found my way here anyways, because that is what fate has decided for me.
I reluctantly took a step towards the demon, deciding to hear what they have to say.
The corner of it's mouth twitched upwards, then going back to its neutral form.
"So have you come to a conclusion, Trophonia?"
I swallowed hard and nodded.
"I'll listen to what you have to say."
"Very well. You may ask all the questions you want little one, now come on. Sit down and make yourself comfortable. After all, we might be here for a long time."
"How are you still alive?" I asked, the question sounding absurd in my mind, but came out pretty fair.
"Fair question. I am alive only because this part of me was sealed in your mind Trophonia. I am the demon of the moon, I am the dark to the sun's light, the oncoming storm of Araycien. I take the name of the last moon controller, before Ygraine I was Aywin, and before Aywin I was Ghachu, the first and only male moon. If there is to be a sun there must be a moon, because light will not live without dark, and dark cannot survive without light."
"Uh, okay.....but why am I only meeting you now?"
"That would be because of the seal. The seal that kept me locked away was taken along with your soul dear angel, and therefore I claimed my opportunity to awake in your dying mind." The voice finished the sentence with a bone-chilling laugh, turning their gaze at me. "You have a choice ahead of you, young angel." The demon walked toward me in slow steps, partially dragging their feet behind them. "You can either die and move on, leaving me to roam the world on my own, free to do as I please, or you can accept me as your new soul and go back to the world of the living."
I stood up, catching their eyes. "I'm not about to let you twist my mind as you did my mother, daemonium."
The demon grinned, showing off spiky teeth."Think about it Trophonia, you could take the chance and use it to show the angels what you can really do with your powers."
"I will not give in to your sweet-talking Tempest."
I heard the demon gasp lightly.
"That's right. I know your true name, demon of the moon. And will not leave you to control me like anyone before me!"
"Then I shall leave you to die alone in the cold gap of the void as I lay ruin to your friends and all of Araycien."
I froze. That is the one thing I will not stand for, and that is the destruction of what I fought to protect in the War of Survival all those years ago.
"Fine." I said. "Take over me. Become my new soul or whatever. Just please, please don't destroy everything I've fought for." I said.
Tempest started laughing crazily, then stopped, put her hand on my shoulder, stared me dead in the eye and said, "Then may the eternal night begin."
Then my eyes started closing as I collapsed on the ground, seeing only white and a blurred figure standing over me.
