"I am convinced that the only people worthy of consideration in this world are the unusual ones. For the common folks are like the leaves of a tree, and live and die unnoticed."
― L. Frank Baum, The Land of Oz
The classes were fairly interesting, and truly remarkable. Classes ranged from Maths to silent art of photography. By now I was fairly acknowledged as the new girl, few people came up to me to start conversation it was ok for the most part.
It was soon lunch time, the epitome of teenage monarchy. I was having trouble locating a seat when I was suddenly pushed onto the floor my tray sliding a few few in front of me. Picking myself up I turned around searching around the room for the culprit, my eyes met dark one. Taking a huge breath in I was taken aback my how beautiful this creature was. His hair was so light it was almost white his skin looked almost inhuman.
Sucking my breath in I regained my composure, I gave the best glare I could before walking outside to the out door cafeteria. I hated confrontation and I wasn't about to start something I would regret later on. I wandered around passing flocks of people until I came a garden. It was hidden my a veil of vines and flowers, it was kinda hard to ignore . My finger tips itched to push back the curtain when someone caught my wrists.
Turning around I came face to face with Xena I breathed out I was relieved it was someone I knew. Her grip was pretty strong for someone who looked as petite as her. Xena's eyes were dark as she dragged me away from the garden, it was really secluded and I wonder how she found me there.
She continued to drag me across the courtyard I struggles against her grip as she pulled me into an empty classroom. Pushing me gently on to the table she locked the door and held her ear against the door for a couple seconds before she faced me her face filling with concern.
"Quinn, I'm sorry for dragging you away, like that but I needed to keep you away from that place. You shouldn't go there ever, I can't protect you from there. If you wander there I can't come to save you please.", her eyes pleaded with me. Her hair was pulled all over the place, it was painful to watch her
"Why?", I muttered to myself.
She sighed as turned away from me. "Because you're pure that's why, I sensed something different when we first met and that place you were wandering to was beautiful and hard to resist like most unholy things. Promise me you won't ever go there without a warning."
She looked so defeated and I just nodded. I studied her trying to get a reading was there an ulterior motive but none she was just worried and concerned. She came close and hugged me, I stiffened into the hug but warmed up eventually. She was soon back to her chirpy self as we left the classroom.
We walked back into the lunchroom, seating at a table close to the Center of the hall where a few more people sat, I quickly spotted Xavier at the center of the table. They seemed to be in a heated conversation, but stopped when they sensed Xena and I close to the table.
I got a closer look at the people at the table, there were two guys and two girls. They were all breathtakingly beautiful it was almost they were inhuman. Xena introduced me and sat at the table following her lead I pushed my hair behind my ear and looked at them. They seemed to have a conversation with themselves, but the odd thing was they were using their eyes. The red head who sat close to Xavier gave me a once over before her mouth set in a disapproving cow, I felt shivers go up spine shifting my gaze their was another girl, she looked Asian her long black hair fell to her knees. I liked her upon seeing her, she smiled and I shifted my gaze to the boys.
The boys were twins by the look of it same as Xena and Xavier, they had similarities but their differences where very obvious. For starters one had midnight blue eyes the other had Sea green eyes that seemed to be conflicting with themselves, they looked pretty tall and had very sharp jawlines. They seemed friendly enough . Did you have to be beautiful to be in their friend group? I need to find people on my average looking radar.
Xavier introduced me to them starting with the twins. The twin with blue eyes was called Jesse the other Jonathan the red head was Valerie and the Asian was Anai. They involved me in their conversation and I found myself laughing alongside them.
"I heard they are rebuilding the dorms.", Anai said he voice soft
"If that's the case would we have to move back in?" Jesse asked
"That may be the case if-" Xavier commend
I stopped listening to their conversation as my eyes found the boy who pushed me down. He was sitting on a table close to the edge of the cafeteria with his what I assume as friends but I could see make out his features, he caught me staring and proceeded to stare as well, my breathing hitched and I got chills down my spine. His eyes had speckles of gold within the amber. I continued to stare at him, till I felt a kick in my shin. It was Xena, I presume she tried to get my attention to join the conversation but she followed my train of vision and saw him. Her faced paled instantly.
"What's his deal? You know the white haired guy?", I asked Xavier, Xena wasn't going to give me answers. Xavier tensed up when he noticed who I was looking at his lips forming a scowl. Xavier and the white haired boy continued to have a stare down this one way more intense than the one we shared not to long ago. I heard the sound of metal scraping against metal as the lunchro9m became quiet instantly. Both Xavier and the white haired boy stood up at the same time they continued to stare at each other till Valerie tugged on Xaviers seat forcing him to sit. She whispered something in his ear that made him back down immediately.
The white haired boy stormed out of the lunch a sudden tension filled the room as the people who were on his table filed out after him. I faced everyone on the table and they all had an angry expression on their faces it was almost as if they radiated hatred it was odd and I felt pained, it hurt physically to be next to them. I think they noticed my discomfort them the eerie feeling was gone as quickly as it came. Guilt flooded into Xena eyes.
