I'll burn it down
I'll light it up
For you I'll risk it all
I'd rather crash I'd rather crawl
Than never have your love at all
With only bricks to break my fall
-Risk it All the vamps
I never got my answer the same way I only got an hour of sleep, waking up hot and bothered I shrugged myself through daily tasks, I was the epitome of death and I wasn't ready to fix it.
No one approached me all day and I was thankful for it, opting to lunch away from anyone else so I could get some room to breathe I stayed behind the bleachers. It was my mistake as all I could recall was Daisy's corpse. There hadn't been any other bodies but then again it had only been two days since it happened.
Trudging to my next class general religious studies, it was a mandatory class for everyone at least on senior level. It was important for us to know where we came from. Anyone who's beliefs differed from the ones being taught sat at the back of the auditorium and talk amongst themselves, others decided to listen. I decided to do something reckless.
Sitting away from my friends I let my eyes roam around searching for Andrew, he had a lot of explaining to do but instead my eyes found amber ones resting on the wall secluded from anyone. Sucking in a breath I faced the podium. After some shuffling Xavier sat beside me, I didn't say anything but nodded at him.
"Are you okay? We haven't seen you all day.", Xavier said his eyes full of concern my heart clenched.
"I'm fine, just homesick.", I replied he wanted to say more but was cut short by a short fat man who hair stuck to the sides of his face, he was wearing a WiFi most likely to hide the fact that he was bald. The woman beside him was thin and long; she appeared frail but her eyes were mischievous.
"Good day, we are Mr and Mrs Ramon and we will be taking general religious studies. Firstly I don't like noise in my class, so if your not a follower of the religion practiced in our little town you're welcome to leave.", his voice was deeper than I expected but on that note some students left, the auditorium was less than half of the number, my friends were still here as well as Nathan, I could feel his eyes on my back.
"Well...nice to have you guys, I've always preferred smaller classes. You may call me Lisa and if you don't mind I would ask questions so I'll know what you know and what you don't.", her voice was melodic and I almost felt hypnotised upon hearing no objections she jumped right into coming close to the edge of the stage.
She say down and crossed her legs although thin see rocked the joggers and baggy shirt look with her legs dangling by the sides her eyes met mine and stayed there. "You, with the white hair can you tell me about the great fall.", she was talking to Nathan but her eyes were on me.
"Lucifer betrayed God, he aspired to be greater than him and as a result he was thrown out of heaven with his angels of course who became demons.", his voice was bored like he recited the story every night.
"Wonderful, and you with the really curly hair and dark skin do you know what happened after that.", she was asking me this time
The short man just stared at me, he was expecting an answer. Taking in a breath I replied " they were damned for all of eternity to torment the ones on earth to join in their suffering. They also had offsprings who roam the earth to this day."
"Splendid darling splendid. And do you know than some angels too, were in dire need of company. I imagine it gets lonely up there, so what do you call children of angels? And what do you call children of the fallen?"
She was still talking to me. "Children of the angles are called bearers of light, children of the fallen are called demons and children of angels and demons are called mismatches."
"A round of applause for the beautiful Quinn, everyone."
Xavier tensed beside me his eyes asked asked if I knew my eyes said yes. But the weird part was not that Nathan left and slammed the door. It wasn't my friends giving me sideways looks. It wasn't the fat man staring weirdly at me or his 'wife' it was the fact that she knew my name.
After class I ran outside before anyone could stop me, walking to the principals office which was on the other side of the building gave me room to think. But in no time I was there and was waiting patiently for him to call me in.
When he did his chair was faced away from me, I couldn't really see his faced but he motioned with his hand for me to speak.
"I was wondering...if you could let me reach out to Ben, my brother." I stuttered suddenly admiring every little sheen on my shoes.
"Okay.", was all he said and suddenly I was dismissed. Walking all the way to the dorms should take me about ten minutes fifteen if I really stopped to smell the roses. It was then the hairs on my neck stood on edge.
It was at that moment I realised the school was unnaturally empty, and that I felt a pair of eyes watching me. Increasing my pace I noticed with every step I took the gas seemed really far. And then I felt a breath on my neck, jumping back I saw the two teachers from general studies.
But what I failed to notice earlier was their eyes, a blood red colour stared right back at taking a step back I looked around the empty lot. I was doomed to die but I'll go down fighting.
"Qinnie, when were you going to tell us about your family. They shaped the history as we know it.", her voice no longer beautiful but high pitch and squeaky causing my goosebumps to have goosebumps.
"Oh my dear Lisa do you know the fortune we'll get if we bring her head to the underworld, your kind has always been haughty and arrogant maybe we should take them down a notch.", the fat man said I never got his name and I figured now wasn't the right time to ask.
"What do you mean my kind?", I was stalking for time as I tried to summon my dagger into my hand his behind my back.
"Ah, you don't know eh? Your kind is the type that would rule over the sky only submissive to God himself, your kind is the type that hunts down poor innocent demons like myself and my lovely companion who just want to kill in peace.", the fat man continued.
"So you're the one that has been killing girls around school?", my voice stronger than I expected it to be.
"Hell no my dear you have us all wrong. It's a shame about the bodies it wasn't us a higher demon probably. But enough talking I'm feeling quite thirsty maybe your blood can elevate that. For you see I've been thirsty for a while.", Lisa barred her fangs and charged.
It was instinct as soon as she came within a fraction of my face my dagger elongated into a sword stabbing her right in her heart. Black liquid splattered over my clothes, but it didn't burn this time. The liquid dropped down her lips and stained her clothes the large shirt she had been wearing before now stuck to her like a second skin due to the blood. She crumbled to the floor.
The fat man didn't give her a chance to swing at his and charged at an equally alarming speed. She waited for the impact but it never came, opening her eyes she regarded his limp form with Nathan standing over him.
He had no black liquid on him and his eyes were filled with fire, it would have been creepier but I didn't feel scared not at the moment. Even though my shoes were getting soaked Lisa's blood I didn't care as Nathan cracked the man's almost non-existed neck the sound on the bone cracking sickened me and I fought holding my lunch in.
"Are you okay? Damn it answer me Quinn!" He rushed over to me and tried to pull the sword out of my hand it burned him, I felt bad I made it smaller and put it in the pocket of my blazer.
Pulling out his phone he dialled a number. "Yeah you were right, she's fine now I'll take her to my uncle meet us there. Can you get someone to clean up though. She managed to kill one." He regarded me with respect and pulled me in the direction I had returned from less than a minute ago.
We passed a secret door, and we were soon in the principals office and this time he looked at me but I realised his eyes were the same blood red as my attackers. My dagger was in my hand in an instant and all I got was a raised eyebrow.
"Quinn drop the knife, I want you to formally meet Swellius the principal of our school and my uncle on the demon side of the family.", Nathan said but his voice seemed to get faraway then suddenly I was our cold.
