He who is buried under the earth#6

Every man have their own demons don't they? Mine just like to kill.

*********

He is dead. The man from the port.

He is dead and it his her fault; they have killed him too.

The demons.

Her demons.

How many times had she tried to make him stop talking?

How many times had she told him in her head to run?

She should never have stepped foot in her car- he would be alive then.

She never should have mentioned that demon in the back seat, should have pretended it didn't exist like she always did. But it was so scary; so strong and threatening. And the man was so noble, that she believed if only for a moment, that he could protect her.

It was foolish. He was a human; he could hardly protect himself.

She reads the name again and again.

Mike Taylor.

For her, people are like clouds, drifting past her. She does not remember their faces, or their names. She never knew his - until now.

But she would always remember it, with the 109 names she will never forget. The names of the people that have died by her doing.

The people she has killed.

This is her way of honoring them; their names will be like scars on her forever.

Another regret.

If she hadn't acknowledged it, it would never have had the strength to be visible to the man.

Because when you acknowledge demons, you give them a right to exist.

You give them power. You help them kill.

She reads his name once again.

***********

In the middle of Romania, a man stands confused. There is something about this place, he is sure of it.

For the last 25 years he has searched for clues; anything that could prove if only for once, that his father was not an old man suffering from dementia.

He wasn't crazed dammit- they were real.

Vampires.

Blood suckers and murderers.

He just had to prove it ;and after 22 years of research, of wandering around the world like a fool, he'd had finally come to know where they were.

Romania.

Made sense if he were to be honest. Their culture wasn't the only thing thousands of years old.

He had observed this place and its people very closely.

And yet he found nothing, that in itself was something of value. The people were secretive beyond believe, they did not trust any but their own- as if a cult of some sort.

The castle was his next area of interest; however it was almost impossible to take a glimpse of it, even from a distance. 5000 years old, it was a area of interest to tourists and researchers around the globe; and yet both the people and the government kept foreigners away.

Some say the place was haunted; deserted by the once royal family that disappeared without a trace.

Some believed they never existed.

But he knew better.

For the land of Romania was home to the most powerful dynasty of the world. Hidden and not known of, it never existed for most of the world, nor is there anything known of it except in the books on the dark arts.

He knows it was real though. A dynasty of vampires.

The "Regat sub luna"

"The kingdom under the moon".

He had tried to find something inside the castle with no results, but fate was on his side, for just as he had given up he had found, another clue.

This statue.

Standing for the last 1000 years, this was also a part of Romania's history and yet the people never talked of it.

If you did, your questions were ignored, and if you insisted you were thrown out by force. No man, woman or child ever came near it, and it was never mentioned without having the gathering turn uncomfortable in a minute; until the full moon of the last month of the year.

Then all fear forgotten, people went to it and lighted candles on the ground; an offering to the devil he was sure.

Everything was pointing towards this place.

His skin prickled with excitement as he made his way to the statue. Looking up at, in the dark of the night, his hands faltered once before he took a deep breath and dug in.

Craziness and obsession moved his hands. Sickness and manipulation kept his feet firm.

For under all his research and curiosity was a flavor for killing. A thrill for murder. And he was so close to proving them evil; so close to killing them.

Perhaps that is why he did not see them.

They stood hidden in the shadows, concealed in the jungle. They watched as the human removed chunks after chunks of soil. He had no idea what he was doing, he had no idea what he would find down there.

They would stop it before that however. They were sworn protectors of the statue, their job to keep the power buried under it safe.

The statue was a seal.

Embedded with such power- that it could keep him inside. For if he were to be released, mankind would suffer as it has never before.

They moved then, silent as shadows, fangs gleaming under the light.

They did not kill him there.

He who was buried under the earth could not have even a drop of blood.

They took him, picking him up like a stack of hay. His cries echoing through the empty forest.

A mile away , a flash of lightning burnt a human to nothing.

He had found what he was looking for.

The creatures of the night.

The vampires.

DAYUM!

Your thoughts on the chapter will be much appreciated.

Author, why do you introduce a character only to have it killed? Why introduce him in the first place?

That's just my writing style. The story will be told from a third person point of view throughout the book. It could be anything. A pedestrian, a family member, just anybody not part of the cast.

I'm not just writing an event. I'm using somebody there as a vessel. Also why they die. A lot of reasons. The over all feel is that humans are insignificant, especially in the vampire perspective.

Also the female lead is shown to be a lonely character. Well, this is why. Because everywhere she goes she kills somebody. Which is why she doesn't remember or pay attention to people.

The concept is she's already not normal. She's living in some other world.

Mike came to an end, even though he was not just a nameless side character. I was trying to show that even though their is one lead of a story, other people are leads of their stories too.

Lives that are impacted by her. Lives that are unexpectedly cut short.

That goes in life too.

Thank you for your time.
