Another Jade Mountain Contest is held after the previous winners are mysteriously murdered onsite at the Forbidden City. However, this one isn't successful and the winner mysteriously disappears right after the competition. Emperor Hongxi dies and is succeeded by Emperor Xuande. A dangerous group of martial bandits spread terror through the country, nearly unstoppable. These bandits are only overpowered by the Jade Mountain Warriors, a group of great martial masters who watch over Jade Mountain and the soon-to-be-held-again Jade Mountain Contest.



This is a historical action-packed novel highlighting the Ming Dynasty of China and the broad history of martial arts.

He Xin, the son of an orchard owner has no interest in learning the martial arts. His twin sister Minerva, however, wishes to become the winner of the Jade Mountain Contest. A contest in which she is forbidden to attend. Her love for the martial arts leads her to befriend the Jade Mountain Warriors, unbeknown to He Xin. When the warriors reveal that they will be supervising the contest, Minerva pleads that they sign her up. The warriors agree on on condition; Minerva helps them assassinate Rodanthe Yue, one of the past winners of teh Jade Mountain Contest. Deeply impressed, Minerva runs off with the warriors on a dangerous journey, completely neglecting her family.



With great concern, He Xin sets out on a long and dangerous journey through the martial world to find his sister, while experiencing the wonders of wushu first-hand.
