Chapter 8

Maoris POV

"Are you guys coming for the party?" Yvonne asked as we sat down to eat lunch at school. "What party?" I asked taking a bite of my sandwich. "Yeah, what party" Martha echoed while taking a big bite of her apple. "You guys haven't heard Kyle is throwing a party at his house tomorrow" Yvonne said looking at us. "His parents aren't in town so he's throwing a party" she added. "Wait Kyle Mason?" I asked wide eyed. "Yes" Yvonne squealed. "So what's so special about this Kyle dude?" Martha asked rolling her eyes. "Kyle is the famous rich kid of Western view" Yvonne told her with much enthusiasm. "Yay" Martha said sarcastically. "So are you coming or not?" Yvonne said ignoring Martha. "Like yeah we are" I said high fiving her. "Yeah, I'll show" Martha said hesitantly. Just then Gill walked up to us. "Show for what?" he asked. "Kyle's birthday party" Maoris replied with a smile.

"Oh, tomorrow right" Gill answered.

"You coming?" Martha asked turning to face Gill. "Uh…yeah" he replied scratching the back of his head.

"I'll see you girls around" he said turning around to leave. "That was awkward" Yvonne said taking a sip of her water. We both stared at her, "what?" she asks putting her hands up in the air.

Martha's POV

"I'm going to the gym, wanna come?" I ask Yvonne as we walk out of class.

"Sure" she says shrugging her shoulders. Carly joined us to the gym, as we arrived I went for the weights and Carly went for the chin up bars while Yvonne went for the treadmill. We kept switching and doing different exercises until we were tired.

"I think we should call it a day" Carly said drinking some water and pouring some on her face.

"Sure, why not" I said chuckling.

"Yeah" Yvonne said wiping off sweat from her face.

We got into the car and started going home. When I turned up the radio, Firework was on.

Do you ever feel, like a plastic bag, drifting through the wind wanting to start again?

Do you ever feel, feel so paper thin, like a house of cards, one blow from caving in?

Do you ever feel, already buried deep, six feet under, screams and no one seems to hear a thing?

Do you know that there's still a chance for you, cos there's a spark in you, and you've just gotta ignite the light and let it shine, just own the night, like the 4th of July...

"Are you kidding me?" Carly asks turning to look at me. "I love this song" I respond. "Who doesn't?" Yvonne says from the back seat.

"Baby you're a firework c'mon show 'em what you're worth, make 'em go ah, ah, ah, as you shoot across the sky, ah, ah. Baby you're a firework, c'mon let your colors burst, make 'em go ah, ah, ah, goanna leave 'em all in awe, awe, awe"
