Two days to our gig, our school's annual graduation ceremony. Tomorrow would be our last rehearsal, the band has been going really okay, Dave was fitting in perfectly, speaking of fitting in, we had our first date today, this very evening.
I had to start getting ready for the date, exams rounded up yesterday, but we went to school today for some student volunteer decorations. It was hectic as usual because the school was big, very.
I scrambled outta bed and headed straight to the bathroom. I washed off quickly, and headed back to my room to dress, Dave had already texted the address. It was a garden with a restaurant around the next avenue from school, it's a classic one though, lots of couples went there regularly. Ou! Lovely. I squealed delightly.
I picked a black short dress with spaghetti hands, it suited the night and my figure perfectly. I let my hair down, as the wavy curls bounced on my shoulders and down my spine. I applied some lips gloss, mascara and powder to look a little you know. But I picked a pair of white canvas, I wasn't in the mood for heels, not tonight.
I picked a nice black shiny purse, carried my phone and headed out, it was almost 7:30pm. I was late. I drove fast, and was there in minutes.
I came outta the car, expecting to see Dave waiting at the entrance, I checked my fone no missed calls, I mean I was late so why no calls. I started to have a bad feeling in my stomach.
I entered the garden, I made my way to the restaurant, I didn't get far before I noticed Dave with some blonde girl in a nice nebula black ankle length dress, they were standing at the far end from where I was. She blushed, Dave smiled at her with a perusal that said he liked what he was seeing. Was he flirting?. I became confused, do I go over and cause a scene, or just back off.
Wait! ... Oh no no no! She just leaned in and he kissed her, Was this really happening, on my very first date, oh God no!. I thought and blinked. Yep it was real!. I felt struck in the face as realisation hit me.
I looked one last time before turning away to go, he met my gaze, he said an inaudible foul word as he shoved his way through the crowd to reach me. Run!. I ran away, he was chasing after me.
"Dami, please wait." He called after me.
I got into my car and locked it immediately, so he couldn't open it. He came banging on my window saying inaudible words.
I hit the ignition and zoomed off. I stopped the engine when I reached the next turn. I took some seconds to catch my breath and organize my thoughts. Uncontrolable tears streamed down my cheeks. I mean what was I thinking, I just started to know Dave, what else did I expect. He was a good looking devil and a God damn player.
Truth is no one knew much about Dave safe for the facts that he joined our school after spring break and he was a scholarship student with good football skills. And then here I was acting all Sherlock Holmes, thinking I've known him enough.
I wiped my cheeks with the back of my hand, still lost in several thoughts, like what he was about to tell me and the foul reasons he'd picked from his play boy hand book.
Well thankfully we weren't dating. Yet!. Anyways the deed had been done, it's over before it started, at least I was saved some stains and bruises.
I organized my self and drove home. I went straight to bed, my phone rang a couple times obviously it'd be Dave but no I wasn't ready for his excuses. I mean there was nothing left to do or say, he had made it very clear, why would I ever think a boy like him would just stick to one girl, in what Galaxy was that ever gonna happen.

Friday evening came early.
Lily and Cam came early too, today was our last rehearsal, so lateness and excuses weren't an option.
It's been thirty minutes into rehearsal, Dave wasn't here, we were gonna have to remove his part. After all we were the DLC and without another D we were definitely fine.
"Um... Where's Dave?." Lily finally asked.
"I haven't been able to reach him either since last night." Cam said.
"Wait Dami, I thought you guys had a date last night?" Lily asked.
"Can we just forget about him and do our stuff like old times?" I spoke in quick defense not wanting to remember last night's experience.
"Um if you insist" Cam said obviously bewildered.
"Dami is something wrong?"
"Everything's fine, but it won't be tomorrow if we don't start practicing and quit this vain conversation about Dave okay?"
"Okay!".
We rehearsed, but everyone was in low spirits sorta. I was the lead singer, Lily backed me up with her voice and guitar, while Cam played the drums and also sang as well. Dave was supposed to play the piano.
We worked our scales and it was a success, everything was mastered and we were ready for the gig.

Loud music boomed from the school's auditorium, and through the hallway. As I made my way to the auditorium I met Cam and Lily at the entrance, they were waiting for me.
Lily was wearing a red mini skirt and an off shoulder white cotton top, which she paired with a black lace up boot. She packed her hair in a ponytail, damn she looked gorgeous. While Cam on the other hand wore red pants, black short sleeved shirt, with a white sleeveless sweater. He wore black Italian shoes and to finish his look he gelled his black hair to one side so it drapped over his left blue eye.
You might be wondering why they were wearing red, white and black. Well that's the color we picked for our presentation today, cool don't you think?.
You might be dying to know, so I'll tell ya. I was wearing a no hand white crop top and red mini high waisted skirt similar to Lily's but mine had some lace up the side, I packed my hair in pigtails but did a bun with each of them, I wore a black choker, full stop earrings, a watch, ring, and silver bracelet on the other hand. Then I finished my look with a pair of black boots, it was almost knee-length.
"Hey looking chic Lily, and ouu Cam you look divine." I said smiling perfectly
"You look pretty too!" Lily said and Cam smiled in agreement.
"Shall we?." Cam held out both hands as Lily and I took them and we made our entrance.
The crowd went into an uproar and the DJ made some mixes to rhymes with all the shouting, yeah we had fans, it was the best part about being famous.
The crowd cheered and kept shouting till we took our sits.
"DLC"
"GO GANG!"
"WE LOVE YOU GUYS!"
Were several screams from the crowd.
Light beamed on the stage brightly, as the red curtains lifted and our principal made a grand entry, the uproar increased. Well that's Beaver's High for you, full of grand entrance.
We all stood to welcome him. He gave the opening speech and we applauded loudly.
The ceremony started, gifts were awarded, honors given, smiling faces everywhere, well dressed and dignified personalities all around. Our gig was the last on the program list. We were meant to wrap up the whole thing.
Well right now we just sit down and enjoy the rest of the ceremony. Still no sign of Dave. Well...

"Ladies and gentlemen please give it up for our very own favorite Gang, dahhh!!! DLC! Common people make some noise..." The MC announced with gay spirits and mad gesticulation.
What an introduction. Well it was time, and Dave...oh no not now Dami, no more Dave, it's time to concentrate and make magic.
My thoughts were ravaging, my heart was beating wildly although this wasn't my first time I just had a very bad feeling.
The DJ handed us mics, to insert in the microphone stand. One for Lily, Cam and I. The stage was already set, the lights in the auditorium were turned off, in order to give us the spotlight, so several lights beamed on the stage.
Cam occupied the drum, and made a roll that got everyone screaming. I was grinning so gaily. Lily striked her guitar strings, uproar filled the air.
Then I spoke finally.
"Hello everyone, we are the DLC..."
"Woooooo!!!!!!!!!....." They didn't let me finish.
"We are gonna be presenting a song from our new debut EP titled Colors, listen and enjoy, thank you!"
Applauds filled the air, with joyous shouts.
We began, we were making magic, everyone was up and cheering loudly while dancing in rhythm to the beat. I sang the Solo, Lily followed, it was time for us to sing the chorus, after which was supposed to be Dave's part. Oh no not again... Stop thinking about Dave Dami... please!. Well we were jumping his part and singing the chorus over again before ending the song with an interloop we created.
Few seconds till the first chorus was over, the lights went off.
My stomach sank, my heart started beating nervously, what could be wrong. Oh no God not today please!.... I was almost in tears and then in a spilt second the lights were back on again. Thank you Jesus!.
The crowd was screaming and cheering for someone on the stage but definitely not us, so I turned to see who or what... My spirit lifted immediately I saw his nice handsome smiling face... Dave!... My soul was screaming. I could just go over and kiss him right now.
But was this really happening No!... I mean Yes! Dave was here and on stage with his piano. Grand entrance don't you think?. Our gaze met in that spilt second, I nodded and smiled, he winked. I looked over to Lily and Cam, they seemed more happy.
"Alright let's do this, one, two, three,..." I said it so only us could hear.
Dave did his part, we sang the chorus again and finally the interloop, where we all sang, no drum, only the guitar and piano sounds.
🎶Stars are shinning, we're different kids, from different worlds, moving together to make a difference, coz we know.... That..... Colors....ouuuuu.... Colors.....do channnnnggeeee!!!!....🎶
The crowd cheered, applauded, screamed, my cheeks ached from excess blushes. We all came together in the middle of the stage held our hand together and bowed together. The DJ did some beats to suit the moment.
The crowd was still cheering even after we left the stage. Finally it was all over, and it turned out well. The principal came back to give the vote of thanks while refreshments was being served.
The crowd cheered again, the DJ began playing some songs, which kept everyone in gay spirits, some where dancing, eating, while others came over to have us sign autographs.

I went over to the school garden, when the party was over, and people started leaving.
Offs!.... I needed to clear my head. I entered the gazebo and sat on a bench, staring at Oblivion while lost in my thoughts.
I thought about the gig, Dave's entrance and everything, I wanted to be angry with him, but I couldn't not anymore, I had already forgiven even before I left that driveway that night. But we needed to talk.
"Hey..." I heard someone say from a distance as he snapped his fingers in my face.
I blinked as my spirit was called back into my body.
"Oh!... Dave it's you!." I smiled sadly.
"Um... We have a lot to talk about, but first I'm sorry...!"
