(Over time the chapters will turn into 3rd person, sorry guys, hope you still like it, it's from Atlas's point of view)
She hangs her head, her black sword drawn. "Oh my....Lydia, you're alive."
She raises her sword slightly. "I thought she killed you. You didn't run, you didn't leave, like you were supposed to."
"Lydia, what happened to you?"
"She opened my eyes Adam. She promised me the world, all I need to do is hunt you down and bring her your head." she says smiling,
"Lydia."
"You want to know what I call this sword? The Black Reaper."
She charges at me, I jump back as she swings for my throat. She spins and swings again, I duck and grab her arm.
"Lydia stop!"
She spins and knees me in the groin followed by the face. I fly onto my back, she raises the hilt above her head and brings it down.
"Whoa!"
I roll away, it narrowly misses, I kick her legs out and get to my feet. She falls onto her back, brings her legs in and kicks out throwing herself back up.
"Lydia!"
She swings repeatedly in a blurry motion, slicing my arm and shoulder.
She dashes forward and pushes me back and trips me. I stare up at her and she shoves her blade into my shoulder.
I scream and push on the blade. "I'll make this quick Adam, I promise."
She yanks it out and raises the hilt above her head again. The sword flies out of her hand as the arrow bounces off.
"Get the heck away from him!"
I glance back at Violet, another arrow knocked to her bow. Shit!
"No wait!" I shout,
I kick Lydia's legs out as Violet releases. I throw myself over Lydia and shove my fist into her. Along with some number of electric volts the instant it touches her.
She yells, she shakes her head and looks up at me drowsily. "Adam....Adam? Adam! Oh my Gosh!"
She rolls over on top of me and presses her lips against mine. She pulls away wide eyed, "I just kissed you." she mutters,
Violet throws her leg into her Stomach and sends her rolling off through the air to the ground.
"No wait Violet!" I shout pulling on her shirt,
Violet has the arrow aimed and pulled back. "Adam she just tried to kill you!"
"What?! I did that?!"
"You think we are-"
"Violet calm down, let me explain, both of you for five seconds."
Hesitantly, she loosens the strain and replaces the arrow. "Lydia, you were brainwashed, but I'm guessing you knew that."
She nods, "I'm so sorry....Im so so sorry Adam I didn't mean to hurt you!-"
"Hey, it's okay, I know you didn't. Violet, I shocked her when I punched her, I think it brought her back."
"Adam, she just stabbed you."
"I'm begging Violet, please."
Her face softens, she sighs. "Ugh....fine. Why did you kiss him?! Tonight of all nights?!"
I look at Lydia, she looks up at the moon wide eyed, pale and back at us. "Y-you kissed him too? Oh no...."
"Whats the problem?"
"Adam?!" Violet spits,
"I'm not saying I'd want to do it again but why is this such a big deal to you?"
Violet grunts and points at the half moon, thick clouds surrounding the invisible sphere its trapped in.
"That's the big fricken deal! We both just kissed you on Liara's moon!"
"Who the heck is Liara?"
"Adam, she's nicknamed the demi goddess of love, when you kiss on her night the affection you share turns into an eternal love between the two."
I stare blankly at them.
Violet looks at the ground, anger quickly building. "Violet, breath." I say slowly,
"I'm sorry, it was just a reaction, I didn't-I didn't know."
"Shut up. Gah I want to hit you so hard! If I did he'd hate me."
"Violet I don't hate you, just calm down, everyone."
Both look at me with depressed and guilty faces. "...So, so, I'm in love with both of you now?"
"Yes." Violet mumbles,
"You knew?" I ask her,
"Would you not have done it if you knew?"
"I-I don't know.....I think I would have. But, I don't what to think right now."
"That's the conflict, you love us both and don't know which to choose. It'll stay that way until you make a choice."
"I hate you." Violet whispers,
Lydia looks down as she squeezes her hands too tight. The blood drains from both.
Violet turns and stomps off. "Violet?"
"I'm making dinner, all I found is one." she spits,
I look back at Lydia, she looks like she's about to cry. "I'm so sorry Adam....I didn't realize what I was doing, it just, it was just a reaction."
I plop down next to her and hug her. "I can't believe you're alive."
Her arms wrap around me and she squeezes tight. "I thought they killed you too."
We sit there in silence just hugging, it feels so nice. But we both at last pull away and smile at one another.
"Come on, let's get some dinner."
"It wouldn't be cooked that fast, besides there's three of us."
"That's why we are going to find dinner."
She smiles and nods. "Okay."
We walk to the tree line, she takes off her coat, and drops it. "Are there a lot of animals in there?"
"Violet said she hasn't caught anything big but the traps usually work. This things more like a forest I'm surprised there isn't anything big in it."
She frowns, "How do you hunt for them?"
"Find an area and wait."
"Just....like a random spot?"
I nod, "Oh dear."
"What?"
"I don't, think she's hunted in a while, may I try?"
I gesture her to the forest, she starts in and searches the floor. Three minutes in she bends down and picks up a leaf to show me, the tip has been broken down and inward.
She shows me the pile of leaves, I frown at her, she smiles and takes my hand and runs it over the faint hoof print.
I look at her wide eyed, she grins and gets to her feet. We continue through, I draw my bow and arrow now to eliminate sound later.
She stops again and asks for another arrow. She stick the tip in deer droppings, it sticks to the blade.
I frown in disgust at her, she covers her mouth to keep from laughing, she wipes it off on a growing leaf and we continue.
At least it means it's close. We follow for another fifteen minutes silently and she suddenly stops.
Slowly she points the tip of the arrow at the young deer, grazing. I even more slowly pull back the arrow and aim, release. The deer freezes and whines as it sinks into it.
We hurry over as it still wines and kicks the air. Lydia pull her sword out and pierces it's chest with the tip.
"Thank you friend. Be at peace, with ancestors and family." she whispers to the deer as it takes its last breath,
She sheaths her sword and carefully takes out the arrow. "You still haven't changed Lydia."
"What do you mean?"
"You're the same kindhearted woman."
She turns red and looks at the deer, "Thanks, uh, I'll help you carry this, so it doesn't bleed out on us."
We each grab two legs and walk back Violet look at us and jumps to her feet. "Where'd you find that?"
"In the forest, deep inside."
"We've never found anything in there before."
"I just received really good advice from people in the past."
"So what? I have too?"
Lydia shrugs, "Maybe it was just a good night?"
She snorts and sits down again and pokes her rabbit with an arrowhead.
"Maybe we could teach each other? I think I'm too loud when I move, but I'm sure you know how to avoid that?"
"Please don't suck up to me. Don't. Ever."
"Do you have any rope?"
"What's it to you?"
"Violet, can we please try to get along?"
I hate asking and for a moment her face flickers, like it hurt her. "....behind the house, what do you want with it?"
"I'd like to drain the blood of the deer, is that okay?"
Violet sighs and throws her hand out to the house, giving permission.
Lydia thanks her and walks away. "I'm sorry."
"It's not your fault, I was stupid, I shouldn't have done it in the first place, I should've told you in the first place."
"Violet, I'm still glad."
"I'm not sure if it's real now, I might have believed it totally before, but your heart belongs to two now."
"I know, and I...honestly don't know who to choose. I know that must hurt."
"It's does, a lot, but it's nothing compared to what you must be dealing with. You have to choose between two people you are in love with, and when you do, it will destroy you. I'm exaggerating of course but....thats part or Liara's moon a blessing and a curse and it's going to kick your heart between the legs."
I stare down at the fire. "I care more about you two. I did before tonight."
She looks up at me and takes the rabbit off. "Do we still have a deal? Tomorrow?"
"Yeah, we do." she smiles and takes a bite out of the rabbit,
"Hey Adam, can you help me for a second?"
I walk over to Lydia who has begun tieing the rope around the deer's hind legs.
"Sure, with what?"
"Hanging it."
We drag the deer to a nearby tree and pull it up. "Wait wait. Hold it."
She let's go, takes her sword and makes a huge and deep cut into its throat. We pull it up higher and tie it off.
"Cool, now we let it drip and eat it in the morning when it's done."
She thanks me for the help, zips up her coat and sits by the fire. Lydia rubs her eyes and lays on her side, "Tired already?" I chuckle,
She mumbles a yes and closes them. We stare at the fire in silence for two hours before Violet finally breaks it.
"Can we really trust her?" she whispers,
I nod, "I'd trust her with my life. If she was still brainwashed we'd be dead."
"Gee, thanks."
"I'm just saying, you caught her off guard but if I didn't make her come back she probably would've taken us both down."
"She's that good?"
"She'd deny it I'm sure, but yes. I trust her with everything, she's selfless and kind, strong and skilled. The type of person we ran short of in my, where I'm from."
"Which is where?"
"Can I tell you tomorrow? When you both are awake?"
She mutters an acceptance. We let the fire slowly die and we close our eyes.
I start the fire again while Violet and Lydia carve the deer and spit it.
"Alright. Who first?"
"What?" Lydia asks me,
Violet clears her throat and scoots forward, "I was abused growing up. My father abused me sexually, mentally, emotionally and physically, in all areas. My brother and mother agreed, he was abusive to all of us.
One night when I was sixteen, he came home, way after dinner which was rare. He had been laid off his job, and robbed that same day so instead of just coming home he drank all day. He came home, got into an argument with my mom and before you knew it he knocked her to the ground and was wrestling my brother. He grabbed the kitchen knife and stabbed my brother repeatedly. Stabbed my mom and came at me, I accidentally froze his feet to the floor.
He dropped the knife, I grabbed it and rammed it into his back over and over. Ever since then it's been almost impossible to trust anyone of course and to even love, which....is why I went overboard a few nights ago. I've never physically shown love before, I didn't know how I still don't. I ran away and have been on my own since then, always hiding, Sylvia, the head of that place found me when I was seventeen. She tortured me for three years, and you and I met, you were different, you cared about me even though you were in pain yourself. That's rare to see."
"Im so sorry Violet..." Lydia mutters,
"I can't imagine what that was like. I'm sorry."
Violet shrugs, "It made me strong."
"Well...there is something I have to admit to both of you. I'm not from this world, I'm from a different dimension."
They frown at each other and back at me. "What?"
"I was in school, my friend walked out into the str-er-road and was about to....what you have as carriages, picture a carriage that moves way, way faster and on its own. It was coming down the road, I pushed her out of the way and it hit me instead.
I died but I was...still alive, like my spirit was outside my body. Then Death, an actual figure, came and said he was giving me another life, I guess because I was pretty caring or something in that one. He sent me here, gave me, well locked magic and told me to figure it all out. I appeared, bruised and beaten in that tiny wooden box and you came and saved me Lydia."
Both stare at me, "Wait...what?"
"Is this a joke Adam?"
I shake my head, "No, I'm from a different world, we don't have floating islands or magic."
"Holy....."
"You're from a different world....holy crap."
"Can you prove it?" Violet asks,
"No, I can't."
"That explains so much actually.....the 'memory loss' you really just came from another world?"
Lydia plops down on the ground and covers her mouth. "Adam I need you to tell me straight up, you're telling the truth right?" Violet asks,
"Yeah, I would never lie to you guys."
Violet takes a deep breath and sits next to Lydia. "Whoa."
"I know it's crazy. But no one knows, except you of course. I'll give you a moment to digest it."
"So, Death just brought you back because you saved a girl in your past life?"
"He said it's because....well I saved a couple people, we all weren't the smartest human beings." I chuckle,
They both look at each other with raised eyebrows and back at me. "O-okay, so...thats it then." Lydia asks,
I frown at her, "You're okay with it, just like that?"
"Well, I mean I'm still surprised, hugely, but it doesn't change anything."
"How does it not?" Violet asks,
"Well I still, you know, have feelings for you, it's not like because you're from another dimension I'm going to ditch you. I am pretty curious though." she asks smiling and squeezing her arm,
"Lydia?"
She frowns at the skeptical tone, "What? O-oh no I'm...excited, mostly, I don't really know what to think about it but, I'm really curious. Why don't welay everything out for each other?"
"Okay." I say,
"You first." Violet says,
