Chapter 76: Density VS Gravity

Dondre's POV

While the others were busy holding Donte's hand through his battle, I was on my own trying to take out my guy.

When I'd arrived on the scene, he quickly reacted by raising his hand and creating a large dome around himself.

Naturally I was caught inside this dome, immediately falling victim to it's effects. I helplessly fell to my knees, feeling the weight of a crushing force on me.

"Bastard." I mumbled

"You think you can beat gravity, speedster?" the man mocked

Neighboring objects in his field begun to get crushed and visibly damaged.

"What the hell is he doing?" I questioned those back at the lab

Instead of a direct response, they were busy coaching Donte with his own bad guy.

"Can't rely on anyone." I scoffed

Using all of my strength to fight against the force, I slowly rose to my feet.

"Nuhuh." he went

Suddenly the force increased several times, flattening me onto the ground. It felt as if the force of his gravity wanted to crush my atoms to bits.

"Damnit. Think Dondre think." I told myself

I vibrated on the spot, slightly shifting the compacity of my atoms. When I slightly shifted my density, a barely noticeable amount of the force was relieved. I couldn't maintain it for long, reapplying the full force whenever I stopped.

"So I guess super speed isn't everything." He chuckled, " See you around Acceleration."

He increased the force even more and started causally walking away.

This is pathetic. How people commit such pointless and baseless crimes is beyond me. And I'm just about tired of going along with all of this; I should put this degenerate in his place.

Closing my eyes, I distracted myself from the pain and focused my thoughts.

"So far based on how his ability's affected me and the other things in the field," I thought to myself, "it looks like he's able to do all of this by manipulating the gravitational constant within his field. Recalling the formula for the force of gravity, F = G [(m1+m2)/ r], it'd explain why density shifting decreased the force. So to beat this guy, I have to lower my body's mass as much as possible."

He might be able to control gravity, but he didn't spend years learning how to manipulate the laws of physics.

I vibrated on the spot to generate energy, then internally surged my body with the electricity on the cellular level to loosen my bonds. I'd have to be careful though; if I loosened them too much, they'd completely break apart. My body was now covered by a lightly tinted blue aura, signaling that it was working.

By shifting my density to a much lower mass, I almost fully negated the effects of his artificial gravity, allowing me to get up to my feet. I sped in front of him, exiting his field and blocking him from leaving.

"What- But how-" He questioned

"Come back in a thousand years;" I told him, "Maybe then scum like you will be a match for me."

Vibrating on the spot again, I internally surged my body with my electricity again, but this time using it to hold my atoms more compact; increasing my density and covering my body in a thin dark blue aura.

"You disgust me." I ridiculed

Before he had time to even react, I drove my hardened fist into his chest, ending up throwing him back into a wall.

His ribs were visibly broken from my attack; might've gone a bit too far for a 'hero', but people like him deserve it.

His field dissipated and the criminal passed out.

-"Interesting maneuver lad,"- The Prince commented, -"What was that last blow?"-

Assuming my higher pitched tone as opposed to the darker, more serious one I was just using, I ceased density shifting and was brought back to reality.

"Oh nothing." I humbly jested, scratching the back of my head, "Just a new move I'll be naming the Condensed Speed Punch."

-"Guys."- Cas came in, -"We have another problem."-

"Three crimes in one day?" I questioned, "That has to be a record."

-"It's giving off the energy readings of a speedster. Donte; it's heading your way."-

"A speedster?"

-"Dondre, rendezvous with the Donte and help him fight the speedster."-

"You got it Cas."

Quickly running to Donte's location, I watched as he was standing off against the speedster.

The enemy speedster was in a dark red full body suit, and you could totally feel the evil vibes coming off of him.

-"Uh oh."- went Future Romaine, -"Not good. That's Overdrive; one of Black Zero's Hunters."-

"He doesn't look so tough." I commented, "We can take him."

Ignoring my comment, Future Romaine went on to warn Donte.

-"Donte, you can't beat him; take up Shante and go."-

"Ok Romaine." he responded

Donte quickly ran to take up his seemingly unconscious sister, but was intercepted by Overdrive.

He kneed Donte in his side, knocking him away to the ground. Donte laid there spasming as the residual red electricity shocked his body.

I figured that if I didn't do something soon then things would get even more messy, so I charged towards Overdrive with a speed punch ready, but he quickly countered by punching me in the gut. When his energy surged through me, I was left immobilized and started spasming.

His reaction speed was unreal; I barely even saw when he moved.

Donte's POV

I tried my hardest to move, but no matter how hard I tried my body just wouldn't work. Some of his electricity was still shocking parts of my body.

After he knocked Dondre down he started walking over to him.

"Leave him alone." I told him, still paralyzed on the ground

All he did was look at me out of the corner of his eyes, then put Dondre over his shoulder and ran off.

Later when his power's effects wore off on me and Shante and I were both able to walk, we went back to the laboratory. Cas and the others tried for hours, but weren't able to track down Overdrive's trail shortly after he left, or find out where he took Dondre.
