|Chapter Fourteen|

Selene's POV.

        Selene is my name. It is the name of the Greek moon Goddess.

Thus, The moon was my best friend, whom I'd talk with for hours without judging me nor mocking me.

I was born and raised up in the mansion, serving master Jonathan, just like mom, dad and my late ancestors.

I work at master's personal wing alongside with so many other maids.

I wouldn't say it is a fun job, but I love my Job nonetheless.

I have never went outside, Since We are not allowed to leave the mansion.

My dream is to travel the world. Cliché, right? But, I always dreamt I'd be able to go outside, see new faces and meet new people, go to school and making friends of the same age as me other than the fellow maids, and lastly, fall in love and make a family.

I love books, the most. So, I'd spend my free time, when the master is asleep, at the mansion library, not reading since I don't know how to read nor write, but just skimming through the pages of colourful books and pretending I can read those magical books.

Oh How I wish I could learn how to read those beautiful books.

It was almost midnight. I was in the library when Janna, a fellow maid, came to me and told me that Joseph, the Butler, is gathering all the maids in the main hall of master's wing, for an urgent meeting.

I followed her there, where so many maids and servants were seated on the ground in rows while Joseph, the butler standing in front of them.

I sat down beside Janna who was shivering visibly.

"For master's sake, we got to be cooperative. I will not force any of you to volunteer but, I need to let you know that master almost risked his life to save this human. So, we should not stand there and do nothing while he dies. "

Joseph begged in a sincere tone.

I was confused so I nudged Janna asking her what is it all about.

She finally told me that the master saved another human and turned him into a vampire tonight, and that human needs a human slave to drink his or her blood.

Everybody were exchanging scared gazes, and nobody responded.

"I can do it. "

I Nonchalantly said which made Janna gasp in shock.

"Selene! Have you lost your mind?!"

She whispered in disbelief.

"Thank you Selene. Master Jonathan will be pleased with your bravery,  Please follow me. "

Joseph said in a relieved tone, and dismissed the rest of the servants.

I got up to follow him but Janna held my wrest stopping me from following Joseph.

"Selene, please, you might die! "

She whispered desperately. Her eyes watery.

I smiled and patted her hand softly assuring her; " I 'Might' die, Not sure I will. It is for master's sake, plus do not worry, I am strong. "

We reached the dungeon in no time, I wasn't scared. On the contrary, I was feeling peaceful and calm.

Then I saw him, he was curled up in the corner of his dungeon, his body twitched suddenly then calmed down like nothing happened.

I heard about the stages of turning into a vampire, I guess he is in stage two, when his human body is fighting the new vampire blood in it, trying hard to get over it and prevent the transformation process.

Once I stepped inside the dungeon, Joseph locked the door leaving me with the monster.

I approached him cautiously, obviously his nose caught my scent the nearer I stepped.

He lift his head up abruptly, his sharp gaze fell over me that made me shudder. He started growling and breathing heavily. I stopped in my trace frightened to proceed any further.

I was stupid to think I could survive this, as he suddenly launched forward snapping the chains with his intense power. Everything happened in a flash, him holding my shoulder harshly, his fangs piercing through the soft skin of the nape of my neck, sinking through my flesh.

I never thought anything would hurt as much. I let out a low whimper, without trying to escape, but soon I felt light headed, and the sound he made while gulping down my blood made me get nauseated and sick.

Suddenly, he stopped and loosened his grip leading me to fall to the ground. I was barely able to lift my head to see what happened.

He was staring into the nothingness, into the darkness at the far corner of the room.

He gasped as if he just realised where he were and what he just did.

He slowly turned around and looked down at me, exactly at the deep bite mark on my neck and I could tell he panicked and started murmuring incoherent words.

I looked up to him while trying to get up, but my body refused to obey, and I felt enormously dizzy. So, I  just laid my head back on the cold dirty ground.

" Where am I? "

Those were the only three words I could hear him say before he run to the dungeon door looking through the little window.

It seems like he spotted someone outside that he yelled; "Hey, where am I?? "

" Wonwoo! Are you alright? "

I Heard a male voice gasp. His voice got closer as he kept asking the vampire about how he felt, but the later had only one reply ; " I do not know. "

Soon, I heard master Jonathan's voice ; " Seems like you got over the monster stage pretty fast. "

"What happened to me? "

The vampire asked.

Master explained that he had to turn him into a vampire because he was going to die after he jumped off the bridge.

So, that was why master saved him. The guy wanted to end his life.

He was furious after hearing master's words.

"Why would you even interfere!!?? "

He yelled.

How dare he yell at the master like that?? After saving his life. Such an ungrateful creature.

" We couldn't let you just end your life like that, Wonwoo! How are we supposed to let you die while we just stand and watch? Plus, You should live to avenge your parents' and baby brother's death. "

The vampire tense body seemed to relax bit, as his shoulders fell slightly, and his breathing calmed down.

I could figure out almost the guy's whole story. I felt bad for him.

A few minutes have passed, he had just sat on the ground with his back to the door and knees brought close to his chest.

"What did I do? I just hurt an innocent girl here, why do I feel like drinking fresh blood out of everything? "

I could hear my master sigh

" Because you are now a vampire. "

He said in a bitter tone.

The vampire's eyes widened in shock but he stayed quiet.

"And That was the only way to save you, since you hit your head hard to the stone bottom of the shallow water surface where you jumped. "

He added but the vampire didn't react.

A few minutes passed while only silence filled the empty dungeon.

Finally, The vampire got up looking very composed and calm, and headed to where I lied on the ground.

"Are you feeling alright, little girl? "

He asked as he kneeled close to me.

I nodded as I carefully got up. I still felt a bit dizzy but I could stand still.

He helped me up then turned his head to Master Jonathan who was sitting cross-legged on a chair.

"I think I know who killed my parents, but I will need a good plan to avenge their death. So, Can I stay here till then? "

He requested politely.

He is really impressive, truth be told. I thought.

Master's lips curled into a small gentle smile then said ; " Actually, You are supposed to stay here. Joshua will help you learning the rules of vampires and the rules of living in this mansion which are pretty simple. Oh, and your human slave here could be of help too. Right, Selene? "

He said then glanced at me and smiled.

Master Jonathan just smiled to me! He must be proud of me being brave!

I couldn't be more satisfied.

Later, We left the dungeon and went upstairs where master asked Joseph to prepare a comfortable room for us.
